When I was in the US - I searched high and low for this delightful food without success. In fact it was one of the few foods I missed while I was there - I am hoping it is a case that it is known as something else
So here it is
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CrumpetAnd where do I get it

Here is a recipe I found for Crumpets
ngredients
450g/1lb plain flour, sifted
½ tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
2 tsp/1x7g sachet fast-action dried yeast
300ml/½ pint warm milk
300ml /½ pint warm water
vegetable oil
4 crumpet rings or 7.5cm/3in plain pastry cutters, greased
Method
1. Place the flour and salt into a large bowl and stir in the sugar and yeast making a well in the centre. Pour in the warm milk and water and mix to give quite a thick batter. Beat well until completely combined and cover with a tea towel or cling film.
2. Leave in a warm place to rise for about an hour until it's a light, spongy texture. Stir well to knock out any air and pour into a large jug.
3. Heat a non-stick frying pan over a very low heat with a drop of oil. Wipe the pan with kitchen paper to remove excess oil. Sit the greased crumpet rings in the pan and leave to heat up for a couple of minutes.
4. Pour in enough mixture to fill the rings just over halfway up the sides. Leave to cook until plenty of small holes appear on the surface and the batter has just dried out. This will take about 8-10 minutes.
5. Remove the rings and turn over the crumpets to cook for a further minute or two on the other side. Sit the first batch of crumpets on a wire rack while continuing to cook the remaining mixture.

I'm pretty sure you can post a personal message now (by which I'm assuming you mean a custom title, in place of 'platinum member')... check your controls

and the recipe looks great! can't wait to try it

ewww; vegemite on a crumpet is a TRAVESTY, and I say that as an Aussie

honey or maple syrup is the only way to go

(the wiki article mentioned cheese first on the list of toppings, which also disquieted me more than somewhat

)

Yeah I was just being silly - vegemite is far to savory to be a good combination

But hey any excuse to use vegemite in front of an American is worth the effort

Depends where you're moving to. Here in Florida they're in the egg section of the supermarket. Natch.

They're recently been added to the "international frozen foods" section at Ingles here in North Carolina. Which is one freezer. And I like 'em with butter and jam, or back home in Canada we put Cinnamon spread on 'em.
If you will be moving somewhere that has a World Market or a high end grocery store with a large international foods section, you may be able to find them.
You can also order them from on-line Canadian and UK food shops.

I LOVE crumpets and missed them as well when I moved here. I have checked out all of the local stores - including Whole Foods - and they just don't seem to be available in this area. I did find an excellent on line site and have ordered them in (I need to order some more, in fact). Here is the link:
http://www.tea-n-crumpets.comTheir prices are really reasonable and a lot cheaper to be shipped than they are from Canada. They are located in San Rafael, CA. I worried about how fresh the crumpets would be when they arrived, but they were fine - in fact, better than fine - they were great!
I highly recommend them.
I have also ordered the crumpet tins and have the recipe - just haven't got around to making them myself - they are too easy to order through this site:-).

Mm...honey and crumpets! The honey always melts and mixes with the butter and then the gooey mixture seeps all the way through the crumpet...

they have them at my local supermarket...i live in brooklyn, ny and they have them at my key food...i think your best bet would be the healthier stores like whole foods or trader joe's because they tend to carry more imported foods than regular supermarkets
edit: nevermind about whole foods, because someone already posted about that
