Depends, if you and your Father live in the same house, you are a member of his household and therefore he would use the I-864A. If not, then he uses the I-864.

You can download the forms and start filling them out.

If he is the joint sponsor, then he would fill out an I-864 and file as "I am the only joint sponsor". He needs to include his tax returns, as well as a copy of the bio page of his passport.
You need to do a complete I-864 as well.

You can download the forms and have them ready to go, along with tax returns and any other documentation you are including.

Hi,

I also used my dad as a household sponsor, some other things i learnt from this forum and from talking to the NVC operators

1) Include proof of relationship between you and your dad, sounds obvious, but i sent my birth certificate as proof of our relationship
2) If both your parents are in the same household and you are using you dad you need to count both of them in the household count for the poverty level head count
3) My parents file joint tax returns so i also included their marriage certificate.
4) Also had my dad write his own cover letter
5) Need to include his proof of citizenship, and address also ( passport and drivers lic for example)

not sure if this was overkill, but my I 864 and his i 864A were approved without a problem

hope this helps

Regards

I live with my parents too
However, he is not part of my household
we do share the same address, that is all

it would be different if I had a son eho is part of MY household and I am using his income to supplement my income
Then I would use for him I-864A

so I let him fill out I-864 as the only joint sponsor
I sent it yesterday, so let's see what is gonna happen
you don't need to send 3 years of tax return
only the most recent one, but you can if you want to
