I am sending our I-715 today. Her current green card expires 7-26-2008. My wife wishes to travel back to China for 2-3 months soon. Will that possible be a travel problem. I am concerned she will get over there and have to come back for a bio appointment. Do they still do biometrics for I 751? It sounds like she needs to wait for the reciept before traveling. She would not be back before her green card expires but, she would have her I-751 NOA reciept. Any advice and where is a good source for info that states travel restrictions and requirements that commoners can decifer.

Thanks everyone..

As long as she has the NOA and her expired GC, she will be able to re-enter the U.S. after travel abroad. The NOA extends the validity of the GC for one year and is travel and work authorized.

The only problem she might have is the biometrics appointment. Possibly you could make an InfoPass appointment to reschedule the biometrics if she were to be out of the country on the day of her appointment.
