The NVC auto message says that "a packet of forms and documents has been generated and will be sent in the next few weeks" (or something like that). Once the forms are generated, do they send them out right away or sit on them until they are ready, for some reason?

Why would they say "in the next few weeks"? Or is that how long they assume it will take to get to you??

They send them to the mail room to be packaged and mailed which in reality generally takes a few days to a week. Depending on where you live, it should get to you in about 3 days after that. A lot of things on the automated message system say that a step will take a few weeks but that's usually just a CYA... Looking at people's NVC timelines these days, they are reviewing and approving I-864's and DS-230's quicker than "6-8 weeks" or "a few weeks".

Oh excellent, that is helpful, thank you. When the fee bills were sent (to New York) it took about 10 days to arrive... So, I am guessing about the same for the AOS and DS_230.

After packet generations, Nobodys really sure where they sit.

The only thing were sure about is the packets dont get mailed right away. It sits at NVC from a few days to a few weeks.

Thats why a lot of people are turning to james' shortcuts

The packets arrived yesterday, so the time between generation and arrival was about 10 days - the same amount of time as the fee bills.
