I was listening to my Bering Strait CD this afternoon and had the thought that I might share this with others on VJ. Maybe some of you enjoy country music, but are you familiar with Bering Strait? I understand that they released two albums, but I only have their debut album. The group consisted of six classically trained young Russian musicians. They were initially placed together and asked to play bluegrass music. I won't try to tell the story.....there is plenty of information on the internet. I do understand that they broke up in 2006. Anyhow, I like the CD and their sound. On the debut album, there is even one "traditional" Russian song (sung, of course, in Russian). I think that I'll try to find their second album. I understand there's a remake of Fleetwood Mac's "You Make Lovin' Fun" on that second (and last) album.

I haven't heard of them but I did have a co-worker a few years back that was really into rock and punk. He saw my wife's picture and was like, "yo, dude, your wife is Russian, you should listen to this CD I have." He put this CD in and I heard Russian words. On the outside it said "HANB" (in as close to Cyrillic as he could muster) and he told me they were a Ramones cover band. The CD is actually pretty good and they're supposed to be like the longest running punk rockers in Russia. Check them out too, Youtube or one of the others will have them. "Naive, Russian" etc. should get you a video or two.
