Well, this has been a long and often strenuous ordeal. My souse and I met a little over a year ago. We knew that we were meant for each other the first time that we mean. I know that this sounds cliché but I truly believe it was love at first sight. Anyway, we decided to get married in Vietnam, which turned out to be a big headache. We went through the whole ordeal of completing the Vietnamese Marriage application just to be turned away numerous times because of inconstancies between the Vietnamese Consular and the Department of Justice. After 2 visits to Vietnam and numerous visits to the Department of Justice to obtain our marriage license, we decided to go another route and file for a K-1 Visa. We filed the I-129F petition in September 2007. It wasn't until January 7, 2008 until we finally received the approval notice, which I guess wasn't too bad due to the delays caused by the fee increases. Well my fiancé finally received her interview date the other day. Her interview will be on May 14. We are both very worried because of all of the horrible stories that we have heard about how they treat those applying for their Visas. She also knows a few people who were denied their Visa because of problems encountered during their interview. We hired someone to manage and organize all of the paperwork because I was told that being unorganized is the main cause for denial. We are also concerned about the medical examination and vaccinations. Neither of us know how long it will take to have this done or if it everything can be done on the same day prior to the interview. I noticed that the costs have gone up and no longer match that of what was sent with the package. We are both just trying to stay optimistic and pray that we will soon begin our lives together. I was originally going to fly to Vietnam to be with her for her interview and if all went well bring her home with me but she is concerned that soething may happen with her interview. We decided that it would be best to wait until she has her Visa in hand.

Good luck at the interview. If you have everything, all of your documentation, etc, you should be fine. Many people have their medical the day of the interview. Don't worry and stay positive!

I would suggest to go for the interview, apart from her getting a moral support, you can also raise questions at the interview if something goes wrong. Being the USC you do get a right to question or challenge them, whereas your fiance will just have to accept whatever they give out.

Since I do assume that you are going to go anyways to pick her up once she gets the visa, then going a few days earlier won't really hurt you.

Best wishes for the interview smile.gif good.gif

Thank you for the information. I was concerned that the vaccinations couldn't all be administered at the same time.

Congratulations on the Interview date. I agree that you should seriously consider being there for it. That would make 3 trips? It's hard to question that. Every trip helps.

I'm sorry to hear about the problems with the marriage. I guess we can consider ourselves lucky that ours went through with little problem. We did have to jump through a few hoops though.
