It does not hurt to give them a call!!! And yes, we received the E-mail for the Packet 3 this morning. But it could be different for Buenos Aires, because with their packet 3, it lists all of the documents that you have to submit before they will schedule the interview.

And yes, this is great. We planned on kids, but I admit, this is a couple months ahead of plan. But like I told her, I expect her to be in the US around mid august, so that is not that much time.

I called them and they were closed. The Brazilian Consulate specifically says NOT to send them ANY documents. We should take them all to the interview. So, I guess I won't have to send anything. I asked them that, if I could send them the documents from packet 3, even though I hadn't received the actual packet yet. Their answer was:

"According to the instructions, nothing should be sent to this office, but taken with you at the interview". It pretty much says everything, right?!

Steve, it's only 2-3 months. She won't even have a pregnant belly yet! Come oooooooon! lol

Yay, good! Let us know tomorrow if Jessica is really pregnant!

Well she is much happier now, her father received her proxy to get her police certificates in Lima yesterday afternoon, and he was able to get all 3 of the police certificates today with the help of his "friends".

So tomorrow he will be sending them to Buenos Aires.

But now I am beginning to second guess if we should continue with the K3 process. Because. part of the checklist is to pay the $131 fee and I would assume send a copy of the receipt. Well this fee is not required for the CR1. So I could be paying the $131 for nothing.

But, the reason for continuing with the K3 is for a sooner interview. Because when you return the Packet 3, you usually get an interview in a couple of weeks. As long as the CR1 is complete, the interview will be changed to a CR1 interview. But if I do not continue with the K3, I do not know how long it takes to get the interview because, there are very few people frm Argentina as it is, and most do the K1 or K3, so there is nothing for me to judge how long the interview would be after it is complete at the NVC.

hi all! so here i am.. dying to be touched (we really have to find another term for that) and i haven't been touched for over a month. getting reaaaally nervous. i hope i'm not one of those unlucky people who end up waiting for years. =( i miss hubby so much.

one thing i don't understand is the processing times posted at the USCIS website. how can they be in the middle of processing applications filed last year when there have been approvals for applications find this year?

Yay! That's great! I am going to the federal police next week. My police certificate will be ready in 15 days tops (usually 10 days).

Steven, I think it would be best for you to is to go with CR1!!!! No doubt about it!

And what about Jessica? Is she pregnant?!

My lawyer has received my packet 4!! YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!

I'm happy!

Hello Renatchi and Steve, I got a question for u.
I received Packet 3 (finally !!!) but I have 2 problems :
1) On the DS 2001 Applicant readiness for interview and DS-230 Part I forms, someone handwrote "K1" instead of K3 wacko.gif
2) I told my lawyer I would send them back anyways and just say they made a mistake...but she said those forms aren't the correct forms for a K3 because they are for IMMIGRANT visa and K3 is non immigrant.

So my question is, did u get the same forms ? I rlly rlly dont know what to do...because I was under the impression that the those forms were the same for K1 and K3 and also I thought embassies consider K1s and K3s as immigrant Visas.

Thank you for ur answers.

Loolinette,

Well in my wifes packet 3, the instruction sheet said K1/K3. The K3 is considered a non-immigrant visa, because you have to adjust status after you are in the US. My wifes packet, we had to send in the DS-230, 156, 156K and my support 134 form. They are the same forms for the K1 and the K3.

I just got back from Buenos Aires today, and we delivered everything to the embassy while I was there.

Renatchi,

Well, when I was in Buenos Aires, my wife got thr results from the doctor. She is deffinately pregnant kicking.gif
and we are both very excited about it. She is now 5 weeks. kicking.gif

We turnned everything into the embassy on Wednesday. Usually, they will take about a week to review everything, then set up the interview about 2 to 3 weeks later, so I am expecting Jessica's interview to be around the end of July.

As far as the CR1, I called the NVC to get an update, and they said my AOS package did not have my original signature. But I know it did because I have not made any copies of anything. I always print multiple copies and sign them all. So they are going to have a supervisor review my paper. But me and Jessica discussed everything, and when she gets the K3, she will just come to the US, then we will go back down for the CR1 interview when they set that up.

Well, my lawyer only got packet four, in which they asked for forms: DS230 (part 1), 2xDS 156 and 1xDS157 - oh, and the affidavit of support. Other than that, nothing. The cover of the packet was a letter scheduling my interview for August 19th.

They also mention that WE MUST NOT SEND ANY DOCUMENTS TO THE RIO DE JANEIRO EMBASSY.

So, I guess Rio does everything very different. But, Loolinette, they also mention K1 and K3.

Steve, they don't ask the DS 156K. That's only for k1's. At least that's what the embassy told me.

I have my exams done, vaccines done, photos done. All I still have to do is pay for the K3 fee.Geez... so much money....

Steeeve, congratulaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaations! I wish you the best!!!

Ya, I wasn't sure about the DS-156K, but I didn't want any problems so we filled one out and sent it in anyways. But everything sounds the same. Jessica finally got all of her police certificates and she has her medical appointment on July 11. So everything is going very good. We are just waiting to find out her interview date.

And by the way, the packet your lawyer recieved is the Packet 3. The packet 4 is the one that the embassy will give you to give to the immigration when you enter the US. The packet 4 is the one that cannot be opened.

Thanks, we are sooooo happy about her preganacy!!! But I do not like not being with her. She is having nausia all the time, and I want to be able to take care of her. Luckily, her mother lives very close, and she is taking care of Jessica.

But very soon we will all be with our loved ones!!!!!!

Steve, I had that doubt too, I called Rio and they said that I didn't need that one. I might fill one out just in case... lol... you never know!
;
Nope, the packet the lawyer received is packet 4. It's written on the cover letter: Packet 4, packet 4... Packet 3 is the one they send to you to send them documents to schedule interview, right?

It's all sooo weird... how one embassy works things in one way and the other works everything different.

I have my medical exams done and have already requested my federal police ceriticate. I have to pick it up next week. I have the pictures already. All I'm missing is the K3 fee.

I am really nervous, the day is finally coming! I will be going to Rio for a week, staying at a friends house! Gee.... I hope she'll call me down! lol

Steeeeeeeeve, that's awesome she's pregnant! Couldn't be happier for you! It's a true blessing! Don't worry, Jessica has her family there and soon you'll be both together forever!! You 3!

Like I keep telling Jessica, Don't be nervous about the interview, From reading the reviews of the Rio interviews, Rio is like Buenos Aires. If you have all of your paperwork together there should not be any problems. It should all go very good the day of the interview. good.gif

I am sooooooo happy her mother is ther with her. Her mother is talking about moving back to Lima, but she doesn't want to go anywhere until Jessica is with me in the US.
But still I worry about her every minute of the day. And on thursday, she had her first ultrasound. I didn't know they did one so early. And I want to be with her for these things. She was able to see the baby on the monitor, but she says it just looked like a fried egg. But the doctor said that everything is looking good.

Just seeing what everyones up to. And our thread is getting pretty far back.

My wife had her medical today and all went good. So now we are just waiting to hear when her interview is. All is done and ready, just need that darn interview.

And with the CR1, I have finally sent everything in, they received the DS-230 and entered it in to the system on Monday. So I would expect to hear a case complete sometime next week. So if everything goes as planned, I will get the K3 interview around the end of July and be able to change it to the CR1 interview.

Hi guys!

I already have my medical exams, my plane ticket to Rio, all documents (except for the Affidavit of Support that the attorney will send to me next week). I still need to pay for the K3 fee!

I have done my police certificate, forms, pictures and all. Ai ai .... can't hardly wait!

Well I have a great update today! Because I am following both paths, K3 and CR1. I called the NVC today and my wifes case for her CR1 was completed yesterday.

With the K3, we got an e-mail from the Embassy saying everything was ok, they just needed a photocopy of the medical envelope so they can set up the interview. So she took that to the embassy on Wednesday.

So now we are just waiting for the interview date with both paths. kicking.gif kicking.gif

Thanks to all the information I gathered from the many posts, so far so good! This April filer received NOA2 and is now waiting on the NVC.

So hang in there everyone...

CONGRATULAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATIONS!

I am sooooooooooo happy for you!!!

Now it's all finally over! (until AOS, of course!)

Where will you be living in the USA?

Loolinette
Ty Renatchi !
I will be living in Missouri near St Louis.

I cant believe I got the wrong papers from the embassy (K1 papers) then got the right ones (lost about a month with that) but still got a really early interview ! I didn't think I'd be leaving France before September...

This morning I got my passport back !!! the Visa looks sooooooo good HEHE, I keep looking at it and still can't believe it!

I wish u good luck with ur interview Renatchi, I know urs is pretty soon too good.gif

Well everyone, here's another K3 filer from April '08 who's wife has her interview scheduled at the embassy in Prague. It will be 19 Aug. Say a prayer, keep your fingers crossed. Whatever works.

Just a reminder, here's what NOT to do when doing this process:
1. Don't give up. After your I-129F is approved and go to NVC don't be shy about calling them to check the status. I've done it constantly and found out many things I had to do. This was important because the USPS returned to NVC what was sent to me -- it can happen.
2. When it says in this website to do things in order, follow that. As soon as you have the I-134 and supporting paperwork ready send it (original) to your spouse/fiance for their embassy interview. Of course make that copy and email it to your spouse/fiance. In my case I waited and my wife's appointment came sooner than I had guessed, so it cost me $$$ to get it there in time.
3. The NVC is very helpful in most cases if you have changes to your paperwork. In my case my family name had been wrong and would be fixed at adjudication---but with more paperwork to file after I-129F I spoke with someone at NVC and was able to send copies of our passports with our correct names and that saved a lot of issues with I-134 and other paperwork.

Patience is more than a virtue, it's a requirement.

Cheers!

Well good luck to everyone with an interview coming up!! good.gif

My wife just had her interview on Thursday. Today we picked up her passport with the visa in it. good.gif We keep just looking at it in disbelief. We can't believe that she now has it.

Plus in our case. When everything was approved, I also followed the process with her I-130, and got that complete before her K3 interview, so her interview was changed to the CR1. So she has the CR1 Visa kicking.gif kicking.gif

We couldn't believe how easy the interview was.
