Actually, from what I have been seeing. But I have been tracking South America, the average is 5 to 6 days to arrive at the embassy after the NVC receives it.

Yeah, yeah. Just called Rio. Nothing yet! Geez... She told me that I would be receiving a package with instructions. But I know about A LOT of ppl who NEVER got their packet 3. Humpf....

She said "It takes 2-4 weeks to get here in Rio"... but I know that usually it takes a week for the process to arrive down here. headbonk.gif I just need an interview date, how hard is that?! wink.gif

Also I found out that the spouse has to make more than US$ 17.000,00 a year to be able to support you. For K3 you should fill out the I-134 (Affidavit of Support!). YAY!

Steve, try calling again tomorrow. They only had my I129F one day after they got my I130! I don't know why though!

We are almost there guys!

Renatchi,

There is a way to track to the embassy. Go to the DHL website. http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRef . You need to put in a reference number with a date. It is the day before your package left the NVC, because that is when it is called in. So for you it is - EXP 30 may 2008a . It is the 30th of may because the 30th was a friday and the 2nd was a monday. Then you click on track. Then it shows all of the packages that were sent out that day and the delivery status. There is one that was shipped to Rio and it is being delivered today to the embassy. It says that right now it is with the driver.

Steve, sorry, but I didn't understand.

Like, for instance, my case left NVC Monday morning - Jun 2nd. So, my date would be the 30th of May (because if the package was collected Monday morning, the collect must have been requested on Friday).

But, where did you get that "EXP 30 may 2008a"?

Could it be mine, could it be mine?!

Ai ai!

I got the info on how to figure out the tracking number on another thread. But yes, you are correct about which date to use. There is no way of knowing if your papers are actually in that package, but they said that it was shipped on the 2nd of June, and that was the package that was shipped on the 2nd of June, so I would bet money that your papers are in that package. But it might take a day or two for the embassy to acknowledge that they received your paperwork. kicking.gif you are getting closer!!!!! kicking.gif

Sometimes it feels like I live on this website. It is addicting!!! I just try to keep getting as much information as possible so that I can know what is going on with my visa and do everything I can to speed up the process.

I just want to be with my wife as soon as I can!!! Is that too much to ask?

And last night, Jessica was telling me that before we started the process she was worried about me. Because she was reading the forum on the Univision website and there were women complaining that their husbands didn't know anything about the process and they were having to do everything themselves. So she was thinking that this was the way all Americans were. She was worried that she was going to have to do everything herself, so she is very releived that I know so much about the process.

And by the way, I grew up in Colorado, so I am a Denver Broncos fan. I do not like the Seahawks. rofl.gif GO BRONCOS!!!!!!! good.gif

Steve, I was born and raised in Brazil. I grew up watching SOCCER. I have nooooo (nada, zero, nichts) idea how things work in football. I asked my husband, he tried to explain but still, waaaaaaaay too confusing for me. I say I support Seahawks because I know no other football teams.

I learned a new one today: Broncos! lol rofl.gif

By the way, are they good? Do they usually win?

Maybe you could wear a Seahawks or Broncos jersey to the interview to show your support for United States sports. rofl.gif

And yes, I know very well about the addiction in South American Soccer. I was in Buenos Aires last year on a day when Argentina beat Brazil in a soccer game. They were partying in the streets all night long. And I am very aware about the rivalry between Argentina and Brazil in Soccer. I have to give my friends in Brazil a hard time about it all of the time. Then they will tell me lots of jokes that start - "There was a Brazilian man and an Argentinian man" rofl.gif

Oh oh, and maybe we could add a foam finger AND a whistle to my jersey! That would be super! Imagine me?! Cool! The council would go and ask: Oh, I see you support Broncos / Seahawks?! And I go: "Who? What are you talking about?" rofl.gif

I know. I have my restrictions to Argentinian people. Hum... We are better you know, the brazilians. There's no need to explain why we are better. It simply shows. LOL

Yes, I read someone's case here in VJ in which NVC processed everything in 1 month for his CR1. But I'm scared of going on with the CR1 because eventhough is cheaper and it has more advantages (in my opinion), it would be risky. It is very complicated for my husband to come visit me in Brazil. So, if NVC really takes the whole 5 months, he would end up spending about $2000 with a trip to Brazil, plus he can't get days off all the time. So if NVC really takes a long time, it would be more expensive and stressfull for us.

Well, it's a tough decision. Thank you for the replies. They've been very helpful. I really hope Vermont do something about my case fast! Whether they process I-129F or I-130, I don't really care that much. At this point, whatever comes faster I'll take it. You guys from CSC are lucky!! wink.gif

I don't think the other lik worked, lets see if this one works for the shortcut.

Check out this thread about people that used the shortcut and got through the NVC in 4 to 5 weeks. so if you go through both processes, it could be possible to come to an end at the same time.

Oh! I heard that lately EADs are taking up to 4 months to process!!!! That would be a problem. But I'd rather be on a tight budget for 4 months than being 4 more months away from my husband. In that point I do agree with you.

QUOTE(Renatchi @ Jun 5 2008, 07:16 AM) *
QUOTE(Steve Y Jessica @ Jun 4 2008, 08:07 PM) *
I was thinking the same thing. Because both of my petitions were approved last thursday and they said they sent them both to the NVC. So it looks like they did the same to me as Renatachi.

I have been doing alot of reading and here is what I have found. If you use some shortcuts posted by Lotofpatience in the WIKI, then you can get through the NVC in 6 to 8 weeks. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...ost&id=7083

In my case, this has all gone much much faster than we had thought. I was talking to my wife, and she can't leave Argentina until probably mid August. Because we bought an Apartment in Buenos Aires and there is some final paperwork that isn't going to be ready until Mid August.

So, I was thinking about going with both processes. If everything went good, our I-130 could possibly be sent to the embassy before her K3 interview, then we could just interview for the CR1 instead. Or she could go to the K3 interview, and when the I-130 got to the embassy, if she was still in Argentina, just go to that interview, or if she was in the United States, she could just return to Buenos Aires for the interview. Either way she would get the CR1 much sooner than doing AOS. And cheaper. AOS is $1010, I-130 is $470.

I do not want to abandon the K3 because, if there is a problem in the NVC with the I-130, I do not want to slow her down getting to the US.

Steve,

in my case, fast is good. I mean, I have nothing here in Brazil anymore. The more I stay here, more rent I have to pay, less income (I am on 2 month notice at work), etc etc. I am already finished with college and have nothing to keep me here anymore.

My heart, mind and soul are with my husband in Portland. So, the fastest way to get me close to him, this is what we'll pick.

On the other hand, I agree that the shortcuts can help a lot and really make the process at NVC much much faster. Plus, CR1 is a much better visa!

So, if I were you Steve, I'd definetely go with the CR1! No doubt about it. And also, at the same time, go with the K3.

Monica, the Work Authorization is rather fast. In 30 days tops you'll get it.

Well, but that's my opinion. I love my husband and desperately need to be with him. I cannot take another month without him. My birthday is in September and we must spend that day together. Period. We make each other that promise.

Well, I rather wait 4 months for my EAD with my husband than wait 5 months here in Brazil alone and go with the CR1!!!

My husband can't come here all the time, he won't be even able to join my interview - he started a new job, has no vacation and it's really hard for him to raise US$ 3.000,00 worth of airline tickets (for me and for him) plus trip to Rio de Janeiro and all the taxes and fees he's already paying.

It confuses me also.

Hi, i think we got our I-130 filed in April and our I-129f filed May the 8th. We didnt realise that they are only processing Novembver 2007 at the moment. We were planning on moving back to CA this summer but now we dont know what we're going to do. I spoke to someone at customer services, i asked if i can travel as a visitor on the visa wavier programme and she didnt really give me a straight answer......so maybe someone on here will know. Can i travel on visa wavier programme while i'm waiting for the i-129f?

I also have a expedite request being considered at the moment, does anyone know how likely they are to approve it?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Renatchi,

That's great, I bet your paperwork is in there.

I lived in England for 4 years when I was little and we were required to take French. But the only thing that I remember is how to count.

I just sent my wife a text saying that our papers were received at NVC, and now she is panicing again, because she thinks it is going to take 4 to 5 more weeks to get the rest of the police reports from Lima.

Loolinette,

We will just have to keep checking to see when they send packages to France and Argentina.

Well Roca, it all depends. It's very risky to try and enter USA while you have an immigrant visa petition pending.

About your expedite, it's hard to know. You need a very very very strong and backed up reason for them to approve your expedite request. It's hard to tell because we don't know your situation.

Maybe you could explain it better?

Well which service center are your papers filed at, California or Virginia? At the moment that makes a difference. You can't go by the processing dates they tell you on the phone.

Yes, you can travel on the visa waiver program. BUT, there is a possibility that you could get turnned away at the POE if they find out that you are married to a US citizen.

I just sent my wife a text saying that our papers were received at NVC, and now she is panicing again, because she thinks it is going to take 4 to 5 more weeks to get the rest of the police reports from Lima.

Loolinette,

We will just have to keep checking to see when they send packages to France and Argentina.

Steve, let's pray it is there. Do you think if I call them tomorrow, I will know?! Or should I wait until Monday?!

Ai, pooor Jessica! Why so long?! But if you go with K3, that's how long it will take for her to have her interview! I think 6 weeks!

It does not hurt to call!!! good.gif

Yes, but I think with Buenos Aires, you have to send in the copies of all of the paperwork with the Packet 3 before they schedule the interview. So we will not be able to return the packet 3 and schedule the interview until we have all of the documents. She started trying to get everything together the beginning of last week. We thought that would be enough time. We never imagined that everything would go so fast.

I will wait til monday. I mean, today when I called and gave her my case number, she said: Are you *She said my name then*?"

I mean, they already have my name there with my case, maybe because I call too much! lol

I'll wait until Monday... ¬¬

Steve, but she can bring additional documents on the day of her interview. Can't she?

Yes, but in Buenos Aires, if I understand it correctly, they send you a checklist and you have to send in everything on that checklist to the embassy before they schedule the interview.

Weird... for Brazil, you are only supposed to bring such documents (clearences, evidences, etc) to the interview and not before. For CR1 you need to send everything before, but for K3, only at the interview.

For packet 3 you need to send a form and something else, not sure...

Huuuumm....

Ok i got it to work Steve thx for explaining! Now i have sthing else to check everyday (or every hour???) >_< I missed the daily ritual of checking USCIS website to see if my case was approved hehe

I also thought, u only send back the checklist and another form but not the actual documents on the checklist...

I agree, if I don't have anything to check, I feel like I am not doing something that I should be doing.

And yes, I just checked again, When the Embassy in Buenos Aires sends out the Packet 3, you have to return it with copies of all documents before they schedule the interview. crying.gif

Oh wow that's stupid... guess too many people sent the checklist back and then wasn't rdy in time for the interview wacko.gif

WOW! That's odd.

From what I have heard, they send a package 3 to you but you do not need to provide anything then, just at the interview. See, I told you Argentinian were a tough bone to chew, Steve? hahahaha rofl.gif

You are correct, those Argentinos make things difficult!!!! But, I did confirm when you send in the packet 3 to the embassy in Buenos Aires you have to send in copies of all of the ducuments, then they will send you packet 4 with an interview date. Then you bring the originals with you to the interview.

I just got confermation, NVC received my I-130 yesterday. So I will still proceed with both. Looking at the processing times, I think that I can still get the I-130 complete while I am waiting for the K3 interview.

Oh.... that's bad then. I hope she can assemble all the documents in time.

Oh, congratulations!!! I also think you can get your CR1 case completed before the K3 interview. You know why I won't go with the CR1.... lol But I wish you both the best of luck!

Steve, do you think I should call the Embassy today?! I mean, I don't want to be annoying and call them everyday, especially when they said that it would take 2-4 weeks for them to have everything. What do you think?

I would say call them! Go ahead and be annoying! I would say, if you do not call today and wait for Monday, all weekend you are going to be thinking about it and wishing that you had called.

Yes, I talked to Jessica last night. And I do not think it is going to take as long as she is saying. She is just writing a letter of proxy and sending it to her father to obtain the certificates. But, she is going to have her father go and obtain each certificate then go back and obtain the 2nd certificate instead of him requesting 2 original copies the first time. She is worried that if he asks for two copies, they will think something is up and decide to do a big background check. There is nothing to be found, but she worries that it will slow things down in obtaining the certificates.

Renatchi,

Oh and, Yes I do not think that the NVC shortcuts would work for you because you are using a lawyer. Lawyers will not do shortcuts. For the NVC shortcuts to work you have to be doing it on your own.

Well, I might just give them a call. rofl.gif Nah, what the heck!

It's not going to take that long. I was soooo worried before because people told me that it would take 45 days for me to get my federal police certificate. I had already started doing things, but then decided to give the Federal Police a call. Guess what? Certificates get ready in 10 days. I mean, don't worry, things nowadays are much much faster. I know for a fact it won't take too long for her to get her certificate.

Oh, and one more thing, I found out that one of the brazilian girls whose visa was approved the same day mine was, has her interview scheduled for the 30th July. Her case arrived much earlier than mine in Rio. I don't want to have an interview in August. crying.gif

Yes, I wake up at 4:30 every day. I start with going over e-mails for work, then I have conference calls that start at 6:00. That is going to get some getting used to for Jessica. Because she says she wants to wake up when I do and eat breakfast with me. But in Argentina they do not get up early.

Yes, give them a call.

And I don't think it will take that long. We thought we were starting very early, because she actually started in May for the first police certificate. But we never imagined that we would get the approval in less than 30 days. Before, the fast approvals were happening in 60 days. So we were expecting an approval the beginning of July at the earliest. So we thought we were way ahead of the game.

ROCA

HI,

Well....... we first filed our I-130 back in January under the assumption that, we could file it at London (since my husband is living here, and is on a 2year leave to remain visa), it then was returned to us with a note that, if the infomation was correct (the copy of the stamp date on his passport) then we would have to file in USA, but if he had been in the country longer then we could send a copy of that page of his passport. So we did, that, then weeks go by and they send it saying that he has to file in USA.

We finaly get that filed and get the reciept, and send out the I-129f. Now on the form it says file it at the same service center as the I-130 is filed, and also on the London embassy website it says that the I-129f can only be filed in Chicago, as this is where we had filed the I-130, thought great no problem, again another couple of weeks gone past, the form is returned saying we sent it to the wrong service center.

So when i spoke to them at the customer services, i asked if there was anyway we could get it any quicker, she went throught the list. I thought that because of the contridicting information on the forms, website, that it is partly the USCIS fault, we havent got ours filed sooner.

We have filed at the California service center.

My husband needs to get back to America this year to contiue with school. If it does take months to get our visa then i was going to work here for 2 and a bit months (seeing as i have very flexible job) and visit there for 90 days, and keep doing that until i get it. I guess that's out of the windon and it's back to the drawing board.
