hi everybody.. my fiance came on a k1.. he is now my husband.. we went to apply for his ssn.. they say you have to wait at least 10 days before you apply to make sure they are in the system.. but when we applied we discovered that his name is wrong .. but on his passport and visa it's correct.. so i called uscis and they told me to do the info pass and go to atlanta to talk to someone.. it's a minor spelling problem dealing with y's and i's.. i had it wrong i guess on the petition... but like i said the visa and passport are right.. should i ignore it for now... i really don't know what to do wacko.gif .. he needs the ssn to work but it's wrong.. i did set up an appointment to go to immigration int atlanta but what will they do if anything... thanks guys.. btw, everyone is fine here... he is making the adjustment well

What is on the visa is how the USCIS has him now listed.... if that is correct do not worry and apply for everything in that spelling....

You should get this corrected with USCIS, can cause problems later when you adjust status.

The consulate used the spelling on the DS-230 so visa is correct, but this does not change the name on file with USCIS associated with the A#.

I misspelled a first name and we had no issues....

The OP is having an issue applying for an SSN because USCIS has the spelling wrong.

ssa said that one system has one spelling and the other system with the alien number had another.. so ssa used the one with the y instead of the i like it is on the visa and passport.. everytime i call uscis they tell me to make an appointment... man that's gonna be a long drive just for a stupid letter...lol
