Zayd
Hi All,

On April 14, I filed an expedite request for my wife's I-130 petition. I received a touch on that date. I received a fax on April 17 that my expedite request was approved, but I have not received any touches or an approval since April 14 when I filed for the expedite. What is the usual timeframe for expedited approval? Is it in the days, weeks, or months timeframe? Should I be concerned my case was not updated online after the expedite was approved? I do not have anyone who I can contact about this as the only way they gave me to communicate was a fax number. I sent a follow-up fax, but I have yet to hear anything. Since my case has not been updated, I am concerned the expedite request was never properly connected with the petition. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with expedite I-130s?

Thanks,
Zayd

Hi Zayd. You need to contact your senator or congressman. They have "special" numbers that they can call for you and find out what is happening with your papers. Good luck!

Thanks for the responses. Someone was telling me two weeks is the usual turn. Not sure if that is accurate, but lets see.

You dont need to contact the senator. You ll receive the letter shortly . IF you do not hear from uscis a week, give them a call and ask them to send your case to NVC. After that, you request expidite again and send similar document with your hand writting letter . They will be approved your case quickly. Anyways, you need to collect your paper in advance in order to processing your application. I m not sure where NVC or embassy

Please to hear you got your expedite Zayd .... the reason you applied must've been really bad after they refused mine. I'm still working on my next letter, and have a couple of ideas, but I'm hoping that they may just start approving Jan filers anyway soon.
You'll get your NOA2 soon, I'd think they'd just post it out.
Congratulations x

You just need to wait a few more days maybe a couple weeks dependig on what checks they will do for your country. We had a case that got an expedite on the forums in March, he got the expedite on 3/14 and by 3/18 I think his case was approved. His NVC stage was also very short, he was approved as I said on the 18th of March and his interview date is now 4/28 so pretty much the whole process will take about 1 month to 2 months again depending on the security checks that they do in regards to your country and how your country handles the interview stage.

Do you mind telling us what you got approved for? Like what reasons did you use? I have many reasons to file, but I do not want to waste my time if they are not the reasons they are looking for. Thanks in advance.

Nicole, I applied for an expedite following a close family sudden death and close family diagnosis of terminal cancer with 3 months to live ..... they said no.

Hope that helps .... however, I'm preparing to try again via a Senator and Congressman, but only when I'm ready for a another denial blink.gif

See, I have several medical conditions that make it difficult to travel back and forth to see my husband. The most serious is a blood clotting disorder that makes me more likely to get a blood clot, and the airlines even have warnings to people flying about this. My other issue is my sister, who was 20 years old, was murdered on Easter Sunday this year. It has been very difficult to deal with this because there is now a murder and civil trial investigation and a trial coming up. My husband is in Mexico, a part of Mexico that has no running water and no sanitation. Which means no toilet and no showers. You buy water from the store and to shower, you have to use that water and sponge bathe. I am not sure if that is enough for expedite or if is all stuff that would go into a hardship letter for the I-601.

Sorry for Hijacking the post... blush.gif

Wow, you poor thing .... I would definately speak to your Senator or Congressman.
Do a search using the search box at the top for the form I-601 and see if there's any info that can shed light on this matter.
There is a Humanitarian Expedite option, but truthfully, all expedites are at the discretion of the service centre and are dealt with case by case.
Goodluck Nicole and let us know how you get on.
Hopefully someone here will be able to help you rose.gif

You need doctor's letter in order to approve . Your own letter must emphasize on the first paragraph. My friend had the same situation like you. I wrote for him . They approved couple months ago.

I have many doctors notes on the blood clotting disorder, I have to go to the doctor anytime I have an injury to get an ultrasound of my legs. I have also had 2 miscarriages due to this disorder.

The reason we got the expedite was because of the security situation where my wife lives. I am not sure what USCIS is willing to accept and what they won't. What I do recommend is that you do not just write a litany of reasons why you require expedite. This type of deck stacking will cause your letter to most likely be excessively long or lose focus on the main points. Sticking to 1 or 2 main reasons is probably your best approach. That was how I wrote it.

Your letter is really important. You must find reason why you need him or her. Good luck.

I think in Vermont they just look at expedite cases different....

Thank you for the information. I just saw the country where your wife is from, and I can understand why they approved the expedite. I don't know if I have that type of urgency, or at least what they claim is urgency.
