Seeing as my I751 extension is running out, I called the Infohelp people... Hmm that was fun but anyhow... they said that the only reason I would need to get a stamp in my
passport is if I intend to leave the country, and if I dont intend to leave the country then dont worry about it.

Does that sound right?

Also can someone explain to me what is going on with the I751 Apps, Im at the Nebraska center and its still showing July 06, and from reading the forum it seems that a lot of people are waiting who applied earlier then us.

Maybe Im just wrong?

Other reasons for the stamp are:

Your driver's license is about to expire and you need evidence of residency to renew.
Or: Your employer wants to verify your employment authorization status.

But yes most get the stamp if they intend to travel internationally.

Since you have filed your I-751, there is nothing more you need to do, unless you want/need to travel outside the country before your 10-year card is received.

In that case, schedule an Infopass appointment at your local field office, take your documents along, and request an I-551 stamp in your passport.

If it is easy, I would go ahead and get one. We were told that we didn't need an extension stamp on top of the one we already got that was due to expire (we lost the orginal paper), because the Immigration officers at entry would know what was going on. But then I called up another lady and she said, she would definitely go and get another one if we were planning on leaving the country because we would run into problems on reentry. So it all depends who you talk to there.

But on your question, it makes sense that you don't really need a stamp, since you are in the system and if you are not leaving the country. The next time your passport and greencard might be checked is in the renewal process, and of course they know that you are pending (well they should).

Saying all that I go back to my first sentance if it is easy go ahead and get it.

Just want to add my 5cent-"Your NEW employer wants to verify your employment authorization status." Once you got a GC (even if it is in CR category-conditional resident), you are a permanent resident. By law employer should not ask for a new verification. Card might get expired-does not mean that your status of a permanent resident got expired.
