Hey all,
Going through DCF in Japan for my wife. Went to Tokyo to submit the I-130 earlier this month. In Japan ALL forms are handed in at this time, the I-130, I-864, G-325, DS-230, EVERYTHING. We did this, and in particular handed in the I-864 with two years worth of tax records, 1099s, proof of assets. I just received notice from the embassy that our petition was approved and we can schedule an interview once we have all necessary forms. Checking the Embassy website, the I-864 is _again_ listed as a required form. Do I really need to submit the same form twice? I ask because I gathered up all that information(and shipped it here to Japan) and submitted it with the first I-864. Yes, I know I should have made copies of everything, but I assumed this meant for my records, not so I could hand in the exact same papers to the exact same place twice.
I'm sure this question is a little specific for you guys, but I guess I'm just surprised and annoyed that I have to gather all this stuff up again for what feels like no reason.

Hi jon,
That IS annoying! I would recommend that you contact the Embassy in Japan via email (paper trail!) and ask the same question. Let them know that you have already submitted the I-864 with the I-130 (and list all other docs that you included as well!)
When we had our interview in India, we did see that all the docs submitted with the I-130 at the USCIS office in Delhi were in their package, so it may not be necessary, but better to get it from the horse's mouth.
Good luck!!

Jon,
We just got our approval letter for the I-130. We too were disappointed to see that the I-864, marriage certificate+translations, and birth certificate+translations were required AGAIN. I mean we just submitted them two weeks ago. I was just going to print out the I-864 again although I need to verify that I still have all the supporting evidence (I think I made two copies but everything got really mixed up after the interview). If the I-864 is needed again, I am a little worried that the supporting evidence for assets will be about 4-6 weeks (I hope) out of date compared to the first one. Also, since I do not know if I can attend the interview with my wife (I read somewhere I can go, but I may not be able to accompany her to the window ... is this true??), I am worried that she will get confused with all the supporting evidence documents.
I apologize I can't answer your question, but we are in the exact same boat, so if anyone knows it would be a great help.

It is unusual that they want the I-864 again. Email embassy and ask them if they need I-864 again and tell them you already submitted it once.
