Hey guys
It's been a lazy Saturday. I went to Staples and bought a 13 slot accordion type folder for all my paperwork to take to the interview.
Now, I know that people on here have posted over and over and over again what they are bringing to the interview and I've used the search feature and haven't come up with one...we need a new search engine on this site!!! Anyway...
I also thought I book marked a few of the pages but apparently, I did not.
So I'm breaking up the sections of the folder and I want to just type it all out here and see how I've done.
Any input or suggestions on anything I'm missing would be greatly appreciated.
Hope you are all having a great weekend
1) Birth Certificate (My original, plus a copy of it and a copy of Nick's)
2) My passport, a copy of Nick's and my two passport pictures needed for the interview
3) Files Needed: DS230 part 2, DS156K, Copies of the ones I sent in with package 3, DS230part1 and DS156
4) My original marriage and divorce certificates, plus copies of each
5) Police Certificate plus a copy
6) Medical exam folder
7) Affidavit of Support I-134 (notarized) plus supporting documents, 3 years of Nick's tax returns, Nick's pay stubs from a few months, a letter from his employer and bank statements. I'm going to throw in a few of my pay stubs too.
8) Copies of NOA1 and NOA2 and Appointment letter
9) New letter of intent from both Nick and I
10) Proof of Ongoing Relationship: photos, emails, letters and phone bills
11) Travel Documents since filing original petition: boarding passes, receipts and bank statements from restaurants and stores purchased in Canada and the States
12) Other stuff: Copy of receipt for engagement ring and our wedding bands, any other stuff I want to throw in.
That's it....how does it look?

What to send to your fiance(e) once the I-129F is approved (Receive NOA2):
1. A copy of the entire I-129f package (that you made when you sent the petition in) and a copy of information that you sent back due to an RFE (if you received one).
2. Send all originals of the documentary proof that you submitted for the I-129F to your fiance(e) for their interview at the embassy.
3. Send an original letter affirming your desire to marry your fiance(e) and your continued support of the K-1 Visa. Sign and date the form. This will be similar to the letter you provided with the I-129F, but dated much closer to the interview (it will have most likely been several months since you submitted your I-129F).
4. I-134 Affidavit of Support form. Ensure it is notarized (by a US Notary Public), with all required supporting evidence. Begin collecting the required information ahead of time, as it can often take several weeks to collect it all.
5. You will likely need at a minimum (for the above form) two to three of your most recent pay stubs and a signed letter from your employer listing you job title, start date, your salary, and the status (full-time) of your position. Begin collecting these ASAP after your NOA2 arrives. You will also probably want to include other evidence such as your banking information and other assets as required by the I-134. Specifically you will need at least 2 of the 4 options mentioned in Section II-Supporting Evidence of the I-134. See this FAQ for more tips and ueful information on the Affidavit of Support Form.
6. A copy of the NOA2 that you received in the mail.
7. Proof of your ongoing relationship. This needs to be taken to the interview! Include photos, travel documents, emails, etc from between the time you filed and present (NOA1 date-now).
Examples: Copies of phone bills, cell phone bills, emails (you can edit personal info with a marker), letters (edit personal info also), stamps on the letters (to document the date they were sent), and other written documentary proof. Provide a reasonable amount; two to four of each type. Pick a range of dates up to and including the present. You can also include a copy of engagement ring receipt (this is something that is a big optional - do not worry if you do not have a ring yet!)

Does it matter what kind of folder we get? I seem to recall reading somewhere on VJ that we can only use transparent folders but I'm not sure if that was at Montreal or somewhere else. I want to get an accordian too, I think that's the best for organizing but I usually only see those brown ones at the store.

I've researched this and many people have been fine with non-transparent folders.
They have really updated these folders CBR. When I was younger, I always remembered those huge bulky folders with a handle on the top, almost like a box! Today they are so compact....they have some really cool ones.
I found one I really like, it's see through on the top so you can see all the different sections but the lower half is like a canvas material, I think it should be fine.
If they don't like it, I'll just take everything out of it and hold it all in my hand...man, if they are that anal I'll laugh my butt off.

When we went with clear accordian folders they asked us to empty them into in trays and through the metal detector they went. I felt like a fool when I saw several people with large leather bags, cell phones, PDAs and all sorts of items that we weren't supposed to bring. I have those old accordian file folders and even the fancy one with the faux leather and the nice handle but I didn't take to MTL.
CBR, the clear folders are available at Staples, Office Max and even Wal-mart. I saw several people with plastic shopping bags and post-it notes.
Laura, they're pretty anal, for a brief while I was sure that they were going to give me a prostate exam.

You won't need the DS-230 part2. I took mine and they didn't want it. Also you should get his tax returns notarized to. Don't forget your duplicate of one of the DS-156 or maybe it is the DS-156K. Anyhow one of those needs to be in duplicate. I think it is the one with the bar code. Don't forget to bring your 2 payment slip for $131 that you had to pay at the scotia bank.

It's the DS156 that needs two copies of. Already sent that in with package 3 (it was requested)
Thanks for the other tips, I already filled out DS-230 part 2 so I'll take it just in case
The cheque needs to be from Scotia Bank? Can't I just pay cash?

It's because penn was at vancouver.... i think cash is fine for mtl.
where is it written that the tax return need to be notarized ??
what about if i have no tax return but a bunch of other stuff proving he makes above poverty line anyway + list of assets ?
Actually i do have the last 2 yrs taxes returns printed from like turbo taxes or something. will it be enough ?
