Hello everyone

Can my fiance get car insurance if he ony has his foreign driver's licence (from England)?
Will his insurance probably be cheaper once he is able to get an American driver's licence?
Thanks!

Geico insurred my husband with just an Albanian license, but everytime I called them they gave me a different story and increased our insurance. Once he got his CA license we changed to Progressive and they have been great.
They actually won't lower it when you get the US license and Geico tried to raise it because they didn't have the records right and when I called to give them his driver's license number they said "oh, he has no American driving history so it is an extra $50 a month" I tried to explain that he never had an American license before so why was it going up and they said it was a mistake before. Long story short, if you call around you should be able to find insurance, but it won'tbe cheap.

My husband was already insured with AAA and added me to his policy. They not only accepted my British licence but they also took my 23 years driving experience into consideration too. When I bought my own car we registered it in his name and added it to the policy, it worked out much cheaper that way.

I only have Geico because I'm a government employee, otherwise I'd shop around.

State Farm insured me with an English PROVISIONAL license at no extra charge, just added me onto my husband's policy and took my license number...

Kez was added to my insurance with her UK licence at no extra cost and her 25 year clean driving record was credited to her insurance record here, all we had to do was fax a copy of both her UK Licence and the paper record to the insurance company. We are with Commerce Insurance...

State Farm added me to hubby's insurance and took my 20+ driving history into account.
