I applied for my SS card after my I-94 expired, so obviously it was not granted. They said i have to process EAD first and come back. I already process my EAD last March 27, 2008. I want to know if you guys could give me some idea how long will it take for me to get a SS card once i go back to SSA with my EAD?

2-3 weeks.

Hopefully as soon as you have your EAD in hand, you can go to your local SSA office and process your application for your SS card. I myself have been having a hard time getting my SS card, even with having my EAD almost a month. They keep saying my EAD card is "pending". It's a long story, but now I'm calling the SSA's 1-800 number and inquiring about my A#. Everyone's situation is not the same as mine, but I'm sure there have been a few people who have gone through what I have.

Oh that is so bad. SSA is crazy. I am sure there is nothing wrong with your EAD. Once you get your EAD it should be active right away. Just thinking about 2-3 weeks of waiting already made me impatient, how much more yours. I hope you will get your SS card soon. More good Luck to us.

Calling the SSA 800# for something like this is waste of time. You have to go back into the office where you applied to have any hope of getting any useful info or getting them to do anything.

Once again there is no way of knowing how long it's going to take. Depends on how long it takes SSA to verify your status. If you are lucky they will be able to do it while you are in the office and you should have your card within a few weeks, but normally can go back to the office the day after the application has been processed to obtain the number. If you aren't lucky, it can be weeks or months before you are assigned an SSN.
