Does a temp-to-hire job count? I've been offered a full-time job in which I will start out as a temp but it will eventually become permenant after a few months. The thing is, my husband's interview is coming up at the end of this month so technically, my position will still be a temp position. Should I take this job? I'll only take it if I can use it as support for the I-134. I'm not sure what the employment letter will say if I ask for one. It might list me as a temp-to-hire employee. How will that hold up at the embassy? Please help.

Cant see why it would not count... its a job and lets be honest any new job the employer can get rid of you within the first few months by just saying you are not suitable......

I don't think anyone outside of the IV interview staff at the consulate in Bangkok can answer that question. An in the case of a possible affirmative answer it would depend on other factors affecting your financial situation as well.

The job pays approximately $25,000 a year. My income in the last few years has ranged between $14,000 and $29,000. I was recently in school for a year and a half. I have about $8,000 in the bank. I got this job through a temp agency so technically, my employer is the temp agency. I'm worried about how that will look on paper. Once I become a permanent employee then the company will be my official employer and not the temp agency. I realize that only the embassy can determine if this is acceptable or not. I'd like to know if anyone has had a similiar experience and how things worked out at your embassy. Thanks.

I suppose temp employment is better than no employment! If the temp agency is technically your current employer, but the company itself intends to hire you as regular staff later, I would get that company to write you a letter that explains the terms (e.g. when they intend to hire you permanently, what conditions you have to meet for this to happen, salary/income level, your work performance, etc.)

As a back-up plan, you could also accept the temp job now while continuing to look for other full-time employment...can't hurt to switch jobs in a few weeks if you find something better/more premanent.
