I am a Permanent Resident here in the US, I married a US Citizen and thankfully was allowed to stay. Both my husband and I ummed and ahhed about where we wanted to live permanently, either in New Zealand or the US. I really liked it here, so we decided to stay. Problem was I have 2 10 yr old kids.

So on June 26th 2007, we started the process to have them immigrate to the US. It has been a debarcle at times, your site has been a never ending source of help, and I am proud to say we did it all ourselves without any help from a lawyer and my kids process is now complete.

But...

The visa center are in the process of changing the way appointments are made for some countries. I was told today that instead of a packet going to the consulate in New Zealand, the Visa Center are now making appointments for them. This has affected the time line alot for my kids. We were originally told that the packet would be sent, the 2nd week of April for appointments in May.

Now that they have changed things, I called today and my girls have missed out on May appointments as their quota is full and now must wait till June or July at least. Yet I call the Consulate in NZ and am told they are not busy at all and have plenty of room for appointments.

I am heartbroken, my kids have been waiting a year for this, staying with their grandmother since their Dad moved away, we all though they would be here by now.

So I just thought I would let people know that some consulates may be changing their processes.

Many Embassies/Consulates have their interview appointments scheduled by the NVC. You can find a list of the Embassies/Consulates here and if you look at the details, it says if the appointments are scheduled by NVC or the Embassy itself.
