Full Version: Could we say that Instruction Package is the same as Packet 2??
VisaJourney.com > Marriage Based Immigration (K1, K2, K3, etc) to the USA > IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa General Discussion

EdgarVirginia
I've just sent my husband all documents required by "Instruction Package" which is the one that comes with the DS 230 form and requires birth certificate, marriage certificate, police clearence, photocopy of the biographic part of passport and 2 photos 2x2. I've seen that VJ members usually get confused by refering to this Instruction package as the packet 3, when Instruction Package is in fact packet 2.
Packet 3 requires medical exames and vacinations and after that we finally receive packet 4 which comes with Appointment date. So I believe that we could name the Instruction package as the "packet 2" in order to avoid future misunderstandings.

Therefore:
Instruction Package or "Packet 2" > DS 230 - part I and II (just sign part I, part II will be signed at your interview)
Package 3 > Medical exams, vacinations and check list that should be signed and returned declaring that you're ready for the interview.
Packet 4 > Appointment date and time.

Please anyone confirm whether or not this information is correct. good.gif

No, actually for CR1/IR1 visas, packet 3 no longer exists since the documents don't have to sent to most embassies anymore. It is now known as the list of documents that need to be sent along with the DS-230, so the phrase packet 3 went out the window.

Packet 4 will contain lab and medical information as well as the interview letter.

I see, that's why some members refer to Instruction Package as packet 3 and and some doesn't, that's why I got confused about that. Thanks Diana for clearing this matter!!! So for CR1 applicants we could say that the Instruction Package is the packet 3 then??

So, as soon as NVC receives the docs required by their Instruction Package (just mailed them to my husband), they will review all the documentation we've sent and if no RFE, our case will be complete and sent to my local embassy and my husband and I will both receive Packet 4 with the request of medical exams and interview date??

By the way, is packet 4 sent by NVC or local embassy??

Thank you

So, CR1 applicants get this "Immigration Package" (DS 230 package) and the next thing we receive is packet 4?

If NVC receives my DS230 package by April 30th, how long will it take for them to acctualy complete my case and send it to my local Consulate?? And after my Consulate it, how long will it take for me to receive packet 4??

Thanks for your prompt replies. biggrin.gif
