My inlaws filled out an I-864 and I-864A when I adjusted status. They are US citizens. They moved about 11 months ago, but did not file an I-865.

I've never claimed any benefits for which they would be liable under the terms of their Affidavit of Support.

Does anyone have any experiences filing the I-865 after the 30-day filing period? Any fallout from the delay? I feel a little guilty for not reminding them at the time.

Also, I'm thinking about suggesting that they put "Immediately" for "Effective Date of Change of Address," rather than the actual date. Surely there's a good Fifth Amendment argument for this being OK? biggrin.gif

Any thoughts?

In all the time that I have been reading the boards, I have yet to see someone get into trouble for filing AR-11 or I-865 late. USCIS has much bigger fish to fry.

Just file it.
