What is up with the stated processing times. On the website it seems like they are estimating 13 to 14 months (down from their 16 months) for app submitted after June 2007. Best I can see from the forum and the actuall application is that it takes about 6 months. Anybody have words of wisdom here

Processing of N-400 varies by field office, some are faster than others.

Any field office within a 500 mile radius of us is showing the current processing date of June 30, 2007. Emilio claims his gang processed 600,000 N-400's within a six month period under pressure by congress before the rate increase so that people can vote in last years November election.
We do have an election coming up in November if that will help. Our receipt said to expect 225 days that if hold true, wife would get to vote in the middle of November, that may be a couple of weeks too late for her. But our city is holding an election for dog catcher in December, she may be able to vote for that.
Wife could have voted in last years election, we long met the marriage requirement, it's those USCIS long processing times that is killing us.
Ha, some have to wait five years before applying and another ten years for processing.
