Hi all, just in case someone else needs to know, I emailed the Vancouver Consulate as there's not much info out there regarding K4's. My almost 16 yr old son will be coming with me to the US and I couldn't find info for him other than the Consulate will require the DS-157 for him (as well as the other forms) but all that other stuff, no answers anywhere...my reply back from them:

Does he need to have medical done?

· Yes, required by all applicants for K visas.

As well as Police Certificate?

· Yes, for all applicants over the age of 16.

Do we need permission from his biological Dad? (Joint custody, I am the primary custodian-Mom)

· Yes, you need a notarized letter of consent from the biological father.

I wasn't sure about some of this as originally I read somewhere that if the process started when he was 15, we wouldn't need all this other stuff done...the costs just seem to be going up! I have a REEEEALLY nice car for sale, btw! lol

and i also think that no matter what age... they might be needed at the interview (read that in another post but not specific to canada)

No, there is another post on here that states that kids under a certain age do NOT have to attend the interview!! Not sure if the age is 12 or 14!! 12 sticks out in my mind, but I'm sure others will chirp in

USC here. Speaking from experience our 14 and 16 yr olds were required to appear. Our 10 and 12 yr were not. I remember reading some where that children under 14 are typically not required to appear but that doesn't mean the consulate can't or will not.
