Full Version: How Late is TOO Late?

I'm curious what people think is a good length of time to wait. I sat in a cafe for an hour waiting on a forum friend (whom I'd never met) who never showed up. Turned out said person sent me an e-mail cancel too late for me to get it before I left for the meet-up. I waited an hour, but after I arrived home and read the message, I was pretty peeved at the lack of time organization skills....

No, it wasn't anybody from this forum. smile.gif

I'm very impatient. I'd wait about 30 minutes.

If the food looked good, I might eat and hang around a little longer.
Zee Bee
15 minutes.

If I make the effort to be there on time the other person should as well.

30 minutes

30 minutes, but where is my cell phone and my friend's?! Crucial!
Sister Fracas
30 minutes but I'd be really annoyed.

i'd wait 30 min max and then order food.

i think maybe 30 minutes. theres one thing about being casually late and another about being rudely late.

If I know you well, 30 minutes. If I know you so-so, 15. yes.gif

I'm pretty impatient. After 10 mins tops, I'd start calling. If I don't have the number, I am gone after 20-30 mins, depending on who I am waiting for.
If it is a friend who is always late, I'll probably late too..lol

I'd wait 15 minutes for a "decent" friend; maybe 30 to 45 minutes for a really good friend and if I had to, as long as it took for family. Fortunately, a cell phone can make waiting times less difficult, since if someone is late, I can call them up and ask, "Where are you?!" tongue.gif

Would you give out your cellphone number to a forum stranger whom you'd never met?
Magenta
After 10 minutes I'd call them
After 20 I'd leave.

I can't stand poor time keeping skills. If I say a time, I MEAN a time. If I can make it on time, so can they.

For me, I am not sure I would want to even go meet someone one on one unless I had talked to them on the phone before, so yes I would give the number if there was a planned meet up. I don't think I'd go meet someone I didn't trust with my number. tongue.gif

If they called with a good reason for being late, I'd even wait an hour. I'd probably leave the cafe and go walk around and then go back after a little bit, closer to when they thought they'd be there. If I had no idea where they were(like no phone call) I'd probably wait 30mins.

I chose 30 minutes but I would only wait that long if it was someone who was normally on time. If it was a flakey friend if they didn't show after 10-15 minutes I'd assume they forgot.

I would. I don't care. If somehow they can find my address from my cell number they will be quite surprised when it leads them to a house I don't even live in anymore. If they find me well then yay for them cos they were gonna meet me anyways!
