Just got an I-797C Notice of Action. It says our application and fee were received and that it is in process. Also, "You will be notified of the date and place of your interview when you have been scheduled by the local USCIS office. You should expect to be notified within 248 days of this notice."
Just in case you were wondering, 248 days is a little more than 8 months. Wonderful. Hopefully it will not take that long

04/12/2008: N-400 Application mailed (CSC)

Quick question: do they assign the priority date according to the date the package is signed for, or the date the check is cashed?
Ours was accepted by VSC on April 25 (according to the return receipt, although US postal services says it was delivered on April 24) but as of today the check has not been cashed.
Will our priority date be April 25 or into May?

Hey
VSC will process application after they cash the check. It will take one extra day for you to see cashed check through your bank. My cashed check had my receipt number on it. It is the same as my NOA..
My NOA date is dated april 10, they cashed the check on 8th.
So if they accepted on 25th, and everything was correct you will see cashed check i think today or most tomorrow..
Most probably your NOA will be dated as of May, but when you check your case status online it will say that they received it on april...
I hope this helped

Hi all,
I'd also like to join this journey

I filed for N-400 on March 28 (Nebraska with Seattle as District), and received my NOA on April 4. No news yet on biometrics. That said, my I-751 is still being processed in the Nebraska backlog that recently got transferred to CSC - so my bios may be being held up for that reason.
Still, good to see so many April filers!!!!

Interesting though, it said "receipt with exception", and talked about "missing evidence", even though I'm sure I sent everything. I did a quick search and it seems like this is the boilerplate notice for lots of people and that it's nothing to worry about. Please indicate if your NOA's say this when you get them... Thanks!!

Like you will receive letter for it?

Ha, have no business on this thread as our filing date is March 31, 2008 and that is a long way from April 1st.
After reading about the huge surge in N-400 applications at the USCIS site, said oh no when they sent us that biometrics appointment in Milwaukee, our field office should be in St. Paul and that place is too cold for people to want to immigrate to. Not so crowded. But wife said, don't change it, so we went to Milwaukee expecting to see zillions of people in line. Even packed camping gear thinking we would be spending days if not weeks on the sidewalk just waiting to get in.
The first strange sign of inactivity was an open parking spot right next to the loading zone, not a soul around, but maybe the inside of that office was packed. And hey, once in a great while you are lucky to find a parking spot right next to the front door. Followed my prepared check list to make sure my wife had all she needed to get in. In previous trips to field offices they also ask for something we don't have so bring the entire brief case loaded with all our records and documents.
Let's see, one I-797c appointment sheet, one green card, that wasn't too bad, why did I need a check list?
Walking in, I realized I had my cell phone on my belt, Oh my God, I said to my wife, I am trying to overthrow the government, you go in and I will put my cell phone back in the car. After that long 30 foot walk, went in to see that my wife was the only one there, sitting down filling out a form. She always forgets her SS number so I could help her with that. Standing next to her were two USCIS officers, they were also waiting for her to fill out that form and kind of debated which one will process her. Took her in, finger printed her, we were in and out of there is less than five minutes.
So where is this surge of N-400 applicants? Even green card applicants, or any applicants for that matter?
Has anyone experienced this surge?
Do have some questions, if our local field office processes the N-400, why did we send our application to Nebraska, Nebraska for us is on the other side of the world. And why two trips with the second one for the oath, good grief, don't even have to memorize the oath from what I read, just have to be able to remember one line stated to you and repeat it. I can do that with my one remaining brain cell.
And what about this waiting, seems like we are not the only ones waiting, that staff at Milwaukee are also waiting. For anybody to walk in the front door.
This is all in good fun, don't take anything I say, seriously, but let's all have a nice and happy long wait.
