Can we add an option on the polls for only votes and no responses?

charles, i believe she means a poll that people can vote on but can not write in responses to.

why would you only want votes but no responses?

well I just think some polls could use just a yes or no answer and no explainations that turn into bickering just because people don't agree

...and also there will be no need for anything to get locked to be 'on the safe side'

What if people find the topic interesting and want to discuss the findings or whatever else? They would need to post a new topic about it elsewhere (presumeably in a different forum as the "poll" part of it would already be covered).

You made a very excellent point.

I think, perhaps, what Amber is getting at is she wants to see some polls without this discussion. Just like an election. When you go to vote there is no place to write a comment, you simply chose your candidate or decide on the issue and be done with it. All remains secret.

Won't the poll drop off the first page rather quickly if there are no responses to bump it, or is it bumped when a new vote is added?

it drops off.
which is a shame, i think rebeccas new car payment poll is a great application of this new feature.

I can enable voting to "bump" a poll. Thoughts?

Either that or a bump on every second or third or fourth vote. There does need to be some way to keep it on the first page as long as people are still willing to vote on it.

The poll "bump" option is enabled now for the "General Polls" Forum
