I would agree with you on the USA vs UK thing.
They have to have a BONAFIDE reason here to deny you, ie, traces of marijuana found in your blood or you admitted to it.....In the UK, they can just say they don't think it's a real marriage and you are out of luck....The only thing that seems a sure way is if you've been married and lived together a while before coming to the UK....I was on a forum over there

The RULES sound the same, but for instance, if you've only known the person three months or so, they can flat out DENY you just on that basis alone!!
Or because they don't like the age difference, etc etc
