7 million people can't all be wrong.
Never having been there, I can't speak to SF in particular, but I do know that
groupthink is a real problem in many parts of this country. So, I'd easily say that 7 million people - and possibly many more - can certainly be wrong.

One of the best movie lines ever.....
"A person is smart. People are stupid."
MiB.

A large group of people who are controlled and fed controlled and/or misleading information can be wrong. E.g., Nazi Germany, China, North Korea. 7 million people who are independent minded and simply want to live their lives in the way they choose are not mislead or wrong. And contrary to popular belief, San Francisco isn't all free love and anal sex in the streets. San Francisco encompasses a range of people and cultures and political views. It's definitely a more "liberal" city than, for example, Kansas City, but it's also a lot more diverse than Kansas City. Some of the most conservative people I know have been to San Francisco and loved it. Every city has its share of silliness, and SF is no different. But (once again) sweeping judgments do not reflect reality.
