For our case, we got an email on the USCIS site that said our Waiver had been approved but it took Montreal three months, and many calls from our Senator, to start answering our emails about the additional documnets they needed. It's now almost been 6 months since everything was approved and I'm still without a visa. It's a very slow process IMO. I really hate dealing with Montreal, they've got to be the slowest Embassy, and maybe disorganzied too.
Agreed on both counts. Everyone I've heard of has either called the DOS inquiry line--they sometimes will post the waiver's approval before the USCIS notice comes; or from the USCIS notice, whether by mail or e-mail. Email is faster than the DOS line, but if you don't have that as a tracking the DOS will usually beat the mailed notice.
With Montreal, I've only had luck getting responses to inquiries when my Senate liaison sends it. They won't answer
my emails at all. They also take a minimum of three weeks (and usually longer) to respond or process anything at all. They do this with each new piece of evidence too. . .
