I resigned when my husband filed the petition so that I can go home in the province and spend time with my family and enjoy the local foods and everything Philippines has to offer. It will be a long time before I could go back again.

I think its best to keep your job. What if you are not approved at your first interview and then you don't have a job. I'm sure the money that you will make could help you out in the US or your family at home.

I resigned once I got the visa (at least 3 weeks before my scheduled flight). I needed the remaining weeks to spend with my family (gawd, it was so short).

I resigned as soon as we got our MNL case number. That was at least 3 months before I flew here. I needed the time to spend with my family, take care of personal things, enjoy the food and prepare for the medical and interview. I think it all depends on your priorities smile.gif

It was a perfect timing on my part. I had my interview 2 moths after the graduation day of the preschool kids that I had been teaching and I submitted my resignation letter a few days after I turned over all the paper works.

I resigned about 2 weeks before my interview to prepare and make sure I have all the necessary documents and to spend time with my family.

I used to work for the Department of Tourism and they require at least 2 weeks notice since there's also clearances that have to be accomplished. In the Hospital, I resigned 1 month prior to my interview and with my clinics, I resigned 2 weeks prior to my interview. But that will also depend on the type of job you have, there are some jobs that needs at least 2 weeks to a month's notice prior to resignation to give them ample time to look for replacement and for the turning-over of your position.

I was in private practice so I didn't really had a hard time dealing with resigning but I made sure that I had my visa in hand before I filed for postponements of my court appearances scheduled after I received my visa and before my departure.

My then fiance and I talked that he should give me at least 2 weeks after I receive my visa to sort out everything with my work and leave my clients in good hands before I depart.

I once worked with the Department of the Interior and Local Government. I went on leave for a couple of months before my interview and rendered my resignation the day I departed the Philippines. I just had my resignation letter, certificates & clearances ready before I took my leave and that was it. I made sure that everything was set accordingly since I didn't want to burn bridges. I resigned and left on a positive note. Hope you can figure things out soon and decide what is appropriate for your situation.

I'll resign as soon as I received my visa. My current employer accepts immediate resignation and would not require a month or 2 weeks notice prior effectivity of resignation date. I am just lucky that they're not that strict with the resignation process but I think it helps that they know from the very beginning that I will be migrating soon to be with my husband. Anyways, to each his own. Some of us would want to resign ahead of time, while some are ok to wait until everything is final. Your call smile.gif God Bless.
