Hello all,
I want to welcome sweetjujubee as a new member to VJ. I know we here understand the hardship of having our loved ones far away and the obstacles of interracial relationships, the issue of others not supporting having a MENA SO, family not always supporting, having children from previous marriages, etc. Juju needs our support now more than ever. She has faced the usual put downs of having a SO from a MENA country (Iraq) and I want to show her that we here know exactly how every step of the way feels like and that we are here for support.
Lets help her get her journey rolling!

Juju got on the Tuesday thread, this is her post, in case ya'll missed it:
hello everyone!
Let me start by saying a big thank u to Tammy for being a so kind from the start....what i nice change of pace from what i have become accustomed to as "the norm" these days....i have a feeling that she is just one good representative of a host of wonderful people here that i look forward to meeting here.
I am just beginning my journey through the wonderful world of visa bliss....and i have to say , i am not looking forward to it! But it is something we have been preparing for for a few months now and i think we are ready to conquer it. We have been lucky to see each other as often as we do I recently returned from a wonderful visit with him....we went to istanbul. It was so nice! But of course the parting is always hard. I feel so blessed that we are able to spend the time together, though, and plan to vacation with him again in October. There have already been so many obstacles...but we always seem to overcome. The hardest part is worrying about his safety and the family....and of course dealing with the ever increasing glares and upturned noses whenever the subject of his nationality comes up. I am beginning to wonder if i was adopted! LOL But I have the honor of knowing and loving a wonderful person and, inshaallah, will have a lifetime of wonderful memories with my man once this is all done. I will say since i was asked that i have 2 wonderful daughters from a previous marriage...they really like him and he is so good to them. I must say that it feels a little alien to me to be able to sit here and tell you all my story without fear of criticism. ( god knows i needed this) ....am i am greatful to god that he has put us all here to help each other.
I am looking forward to meeting u all and hope u have a blessed night!

Welcome to VJ and I am here for you too. I know exactly what you mean about family not being very accepting of my marriage choice or my choice of religion either. I think my family is thinking I have lost it because I speak so proudly of my husband and who he is. I don't care if he is from Iraq because the important thing is who is he as a person. His family did not accept me at first, but after meeting me we get along so I am hoping when he comes here my family will see how great he is and accept him easier.
I pray the same for you and good luck in your visa journey.
