Our biggest problem by far is "food". My husband is older and set in his ways and refuses to try anything "new". He only wants to eat food that he is accustomed to so all of our meals consist of flat or pita bread, olives, zatar, homemade falafel (he makes a "mean" batch of falafel), homemade humus, molikiyya, lamb, chicken and fish. And, no dish is ever complete unless it has tomato paste. The good thing is, he loves to cook, so I leave most of the cooking to him. The bad thing is, he wants me to stay in the kitchen with him as a student and learn how to do all these things.

Another issue was the "money" - he too, says I spend too much money. When I want or need something, I'm used to just buying it with no thought. He wants to watch every penny. Once he made me very angry when he said "people back home in Jordan would never spend like you do; they save for emergencies". So I angrily said, "if it was so good back home in Jordan, then, why did you come here?" Anyway, he quickly apologized and said that I misunderstood what he was trying to say.

Also, he is a "home-body" and does not like to go out much, and hardly ever do we eat out. He wants all meals home-cooked and home. This is an adjustment for me, cuz I love to eat out.

He has a good job and makes good money so now he does not question my spending as much. All in all, he's a good friend, a good provider, an excellent leader-type husband. I thank God for him everyday!

That is my new favorite show! I love those women, except for Ramona. She's a nightmare and an embarrasment to her daughter. They're all bitches and I love them!

Me and my co-worker were talking about this JUST yesterday. I've watched a couple of episodes but then caught some on youtube yesterday.

The chick named Alex and her husband....AAAGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!! Bile actually rises up in my throat when I see these two. Her husband is WAY TO GAY! I can say this too, because my bestfriend is gay and even her husband is too flam'in for my BF! Did you see the episode where one of the girls was grating Alex about her kids not having a nickname and Alex says....We were thinking about calling Francois...Fraq (pronouned FRAHK). I almost peed my pants laughing. My co-worker and I have started calling each other Fraq and Yoh (Yoh for a nickname for her other son Johan)!

This show just HAS TO BE made up. I cannot believe that people really and truly act like this. It's insane!!!!

I haven't seen this show... but your comment reminded me of a day last year where I was snowed into work and had to stay... and there was a marathon of "I love New York" on and it was the same thing. Horrible, but you had to watch.

I love so many of the "guilty pleasure" shows...Real Housewives, Rock of Love, LA Ink, Scott Baio, I love NY, etc. The "contestants" make me feel so normal. I cannot keep up with Flavor of Love though. Flav is just too hideous to look at for an hour and those women are..well...too ghettofabulous for me.

I must confess I too am sucked in to that show.

and at first Alex and her gay husband really turned me off with their blatant and pathetic social climbing but the last couple episodes I decided that Alex is actually probably a really nice Kansas girl, she just has her prioritiies all screwed up.
in any case, it IS a train wreck and further evidence that unemployment has NOT been a friend to me, as it allows me ample time to sit around and get lost in reality TV land......

I did see it and prior to that I really liked Luann but that scene just totally turned me off.
I like Bethenny too, she seems the least pretentious and more like a real person. but who knows really what any of them are like, you know those shows are so edited. oh well. I wonder when the new season of the OC housewives starts.....

I don't and my wife thinks they are nasty. She thinks these types of shows are teaching adults and children that this type of behavior is acceptable. It is desensitizing people to this type of behaviour.

As as an ADULT, I realize these shows are for entertainment, not a guide on how to act. My children have no interest in these shows so it's a non issue.

Having said that, for the record I will say that my infant and my adolescent children have absolutely no interest whatsoever and my husband is horrified by the show and makes fun of me all the time for watching it. At which time I laugh in his face and make fun of HIM for watching ultimate fighting. see, we have a HEALTHY relationship in which we can both express ourselves freely and have fun with our differences. we dont need to lecture each other or take ourselves too seriously.

I remembered another thing we had to adjust to. I found out after roughly a year of him being here that he HATED hearing me say .. holy crap ... I said "holy mother of god" (in the way that u just can't believe what u just saw) one day and he stopped me and said... please don't say this again coz god didn't have a mother... I don't even know where I picked up that phrase coz honestly, it is embarassing to type it down that I ever said it in the first place. I NEVER say it anymore.

oh, and for the record... he has finally accepted that I need to talk to ppl I trust about things that happen and he is FINE with it as long as I don't get TOO overly personal. He still doesn't talk to anyone about our issues so I do try to keep it light and not give too much detail (unless I'm really angry or it was reeeeeeally sweet). SO ... yeah, he knows and he's just fine with it.
