We don't pay for any cable service since Wes works for the cable company, but they give us every conceiveable service as a job perk to him. I bet it would cost more than $150 a month.
Before he worked for them, we had basic expanded which I think cost like 60 bucks.
I don't see live music concerts on your list (beyond symphony) so I checked 'art festival'. We go to live music performances whenever we can, especially those that are blues or jazz related.
Oh, we aren't into that physical scary stuff. Chicken. But I did go deep see fishing once when I was about 16. I'd love to do it again.

I love going to live theater productions but I haven't been to one in years... in the town where we live now they just renovated the theater downtown and have been putting on productions.. I really want to go but we haven't gotten around to it yet...
we pay about 45 a month for cable and now that I have a cell phone I am pretty sure it is more then 75 a month for cell phones including hubby's phone...
out of all of those I have only been ice skating...

I checked yes to everything except in the second category, where I have only done ice skating and downhill skiing. I've also been sailing many times but forgot to put that one down. We spend a lot of money on entertainment and arts stuff.

I was thinking about music concerts but forgot to add ...'art festival' is close enough.

I'm not into the thrill seeking stuff either, although I enjoy hiking up and down steep terrain. I love walk along the ocean at night and have this fantasy of being in a small boat out at sea in the darkness of night with only the starlight in the sky.

I used to do a lot more of the music, art museums, culture stuff - in London, I often went to one live music event a week, which I really miss. I could do it here but I really hate all the driving that would be involved.
So not a thrillseeker though I used to do rock climbing - after a trip to Yosemite last fall I would love to get back into it. We hiked up the back of Half Dome and was thinking it would be fun to do the front. I need to get back into serious shape before acting on any such crazy talk.
Spend a lot of money on cable, DVDs, magazines, cds and books. Recently I decided I could not buy any new books until I read all the ones I own already.

visited art museums and antique shops, symphony orchestra is a fave, art festivals lots; all true with the spending poll except the option spending more than $100 on dvd's; tried sail boating with whale watching, river rafting when I was younger, scuba diving a couple of times, the rest of those "thrills" I would love to try when I get the time and chance.

I only spend $15.99 a month on cable TV. That is only because Comcast told me I was going to spend $60 bucks either way on internet, so might as well get the limited basic for the reception.
I haven't been to the public library since I was 19 and found out that they wanted $40 bucks for a book I lost when I was 11. Forget that. I was ELEVEN. It is the principle.
I don't really buy books that often anymore. If I do, it is from Half Priced Books.
I haven't been to the movie theater since July 2004.
I haven't bought a DVD since before 2004.
I am too cheap or too clumsy for a lot of that stuff. However I am still fairly entertained. Magazines, concerts, internet TV, forums...

Every year I try to go to the Oregon Ballet Theater's version of the Nutcracker as a holiday tradition, plus I try to catch Trans Siberian Orchestra.
They just opened a new 20-plex cinema when they remodeled the mall, so I have been catching a few flicks.
Tried ice skating, water skiing, snow skiing and snow boarding. I suck at all of these.
Living in Oregon the river rafting is a certainty. We lived on the river when I was a child, too many rivers to choose from that are only a 20 min drive from Portland. Just choose the state park that you want according to the size of the rapids you like.
Mountain climbing I didn't check, But come to think of it I have been half way up Mt. Hood when I was in Civil Air Patrol. It was kind of nice to see the layer of clouds below you. It appeared that you could walk all the way back to Portland on them.
I actually do more hiking in Columbia Gorge around Multnomah Falls and the plethora of other falls that are up there. I have worked with the forest services some on those trails.
I spend about $100 a month on Directv to power our 5 tv's.
I cannot stand cell phones and have not had one for at least 3 years or more, but when Joy comes I may get another just so she can call me in case of and emergency or for traveling.
Yes on the eating out and the DVD's.
I don't buy any music anymore. Most of the new stuff is not that good, most I said, not all. I just listen to the radio station that plays everything. From the 60's to now.
Libraries are a waste of time unless you are poor and broke. I buy all of my books. I love Barnes & Noble, Borders and of course Amazon. Why borrow a book from the library that you can literally buy for a few pennies to a few dollars as a used book on Amazon, have it delivered to your house and you can keep it.
Libraries are a waste of my money in my opinion, but I am compelled by law to support them, double actually, as it is included in the property taxes of both of my houses.
There you go Steven, that's it in a nut shell.

My time is worth more than the 5 or 6 dollars I spend to have them sent to my house. A book from the Library will require 2 trips, one there and one back, plus I have to remember the return date and if I am late I pay a fee. Too much hassle.
Order them, they arrive at my door and I read them at my convenience and when I am done I can keep them or give them to someone else that I think would benefit from the book. No problems

To each his own. I just don't think it's fair to see that people who use the library are poor or broke. Frugal, maybe.
I suppose passing on purchased books to friends is an option. Personally, I don't have any desire to own books. They take up space. I guess it's because I know that if I need it, I can always get it at the library!

I pay $60 every 3 months for two pre-pay AT&T GoPhones. I have no landline. My GoPhones are cool. I get free calls to other to others on the network, so calling my husband is free and visa versa. I still get voice mail, caller ID, etc.

True, to each his own. The libraries here are so inconsistent that every time I do need to go there they are not open. The day I always show up, is the day they don't open until noon.
On a different subject, When I was a security guard in 1990, I did a 16 hours shift at a library one night when someone drove their car through the front door on accident. Now that was fun. I read so many books that night. It was great! I also felt guilty about not returning
Lyle, Lyle Crocodile and
Encyclopedia Brown that I had checked out from that very same library in 1975 and never returned. After that shift I remembered where I had them at home and drove back to return them 15 years after the due date. I asked, how much is the late fee? they said no late fee.

Don, I don't know any student who can do a worthy research paper without using a library. Secondly, libraries often carry books that are no longer in print as well as many that you'd never find at Barnes and Noble. For pure reading pleasure, I'd tend to agree that you're not going to find the latest and greatest selection at your local library though. I personally don't like to buy a book unless I think I'll use it more than once ...for reference as an example.

Attended a rock concert (just last month in fact, Def Leppard/REO Speedwagon/Styx)
I've had hang gliding lessons. I'm usually scared of heights but the lessons were not too bad. Not sure if I can go any higher though (will probably need to wear Depend

)
I've also been on a small boat, in the middle of the sea, no lights, engines off. But it was a small commercial passenger boat going from one small island to another in the Philippines. Lucky for us the sea was calm and they managed to bring everything back up

. And yes, it was beautiful especially since the moon was full that night.

I've attended all of the things listed in the first box, although the symphony orchestra was actually playing adapted rock music.

I'd love to go to more classical music concerts, though - trying to persuade my mother to go to The Proms with me in London this summer.
I'm not very brave, but have still managed to go downhill skiing and water-rafting, both of which I loved. Took some tears and swallowing of fears, though. I'd really love to go SCUBA diving some time. The water doesn't scare me nearly as much as hurtling down a slope or falling through the air does.
I spend far too much on books and DVDs. Think I spent over $100 on books in December alone (although I did receive a $50 book token). My cell phone bill is also often high because I text Alex too much. I don't own a TV.
Charles - that comic is so true! Often the descriptions accompanying pieces of art are more artistic than the art itself.

I've done basically everything. My cousin has a plane and my uncles go skydiving almost every single weekend over our land in the middle of nowhere. We do lots of jackazz type stunts too. A few months ago we decided it would be fun to strap outselves to a boogie board and get pulled around a massive field by a 4 wheeler. I wiped out so many times I gave up because I was so sore. Love to go hiking, repelling and lots of outdoors stuff. We have a small bit of land (only 50 acres) in KY near the natural bridge. We use that as our base when we go kayaking and canoeing. Can't wait until it's warmer out so we can do more outdoor stuff again.

Hmm this poll made me sad about myself. Thanks a lot!
I have been to small concerts over the past couple years, but didn't click anything for that.
All the others in the first category...nope, not in the past couples years. Longer ago.
Second category...ice skating. Which I was not good at. I have been on a sail boat once too. (forgot to mark it!) Would never bungee jump or skydive.

I swam in a shark pond once though! That's something isn't it?

(ok they were small sharks that stayed at the bottom)
Last category:
I spend more than $50 a month on cable/satellite television--well it includes internet actually.
Hmm las year I was at the library a few times but not this year yet.
The rest-nope.
Cell phones bill is about $64
Eating out is maybe $30-40
We are too cheap to go to new movies, and while I was pregnant I didn't feel like sitting in a theater. So we'd rent once in awhile. We are also too frugal to buy movies and CDs all the time. Gotta save! Maybe if we had tons of extra money we'd do more of those things. But for now, saving $ is better to do.
