We had our interview this afternoon and it was pretty easy. I'm here in Costa Rica for only 3 more days, so I won't go into details now, but I'll post a full report when I get home on Tuesday.

But it went very well.

My fiancee and I want to thank everybody who helped us along the way. And to those of you who I was bugging with silly questions on a daily basis (you know who you are) we want to send a special thank you.

One suggestion for those prepping for their interview: Know your fiance(e)'s first and last name. There was a couple before us. She was asked to fill out a paper with her "fiance's first and last name" and she didn't know. The lady said (exact quote) "How can you pretend to know him and want to go to the US if you don't know his last name" everybody was laughing at that one. laughing.gif

Kid how did they look at your financial information? Thats all I am worried about.

In CR, they require the usual I-134 notorized, the last 3-4 paystubs (I brought 7), letter from bank (even though my income is triple the poverty line), the last year's (2007) 1040 and W-2. I also brought my last 401K statement and proof of life insurance. The pre-screener lady (before the actual interview) took all our documents and was almost surprised that we had every single thing they asked for and exactly the way they wanted it.

They never even ask to see our pics, emails, etc. I asked if he wanted to see them he said "I don't need to see it. It's clear that you guys have a strong relationship."

I'll post a full report mid-next week.

Absolutely! Once he saw how we were together (joking and laughing, our body language), he didn't want to see any pictures or boarding passes. Plus, it helped my fiancee too. She was nervous wreck, but me being there to support her definitely loosened her up a lot.

Obviously, it's not necessary, but it does help in my opinion. For me, it's a short 4-5 hour nonstop flight for about $300RT so it allows me to visit her monthly. For others, the flights are much longer and much more expensive, so it's not always possible. They understand that.
