Congratualtions Jahan Woa! its me next...now I am shaking!

Thank you all so much. I can not tell how it feels, I just dont have the vocabulary!


This morning is so different than all the mornings in the last few months since we started this process back in Sept 2005. Every day we would wake up, looking forward to this day. There was constant stress in the back of mind knowing that nothing is definite until the visa is actually approved.


We wake up today and that feeling of stress has gone, we feel so relaxed and happy. Knowing the time of our union is on us now, we really feel like top of the world. I am sure senior couples here who have gone through this before us can understand how we feel.


Jahan and Christine would like to thank everyone here on VJ, the support and encouragement here has always been fantastic. VJ now feels like a family!


Keigwyn and James&Miranda are now next on the list and I understand how you must be feeling. No matter what I say, its impossible to relax until you know you have been approved. Christine was more nervous than I, I was very calm...even when I was told by the lady that visa had been approved. In my heart I always knew that there will be no problem, since our relationship is genuine and we had all the paperwork...knowing this helped me keep myself calm.


James&Miranda and Keigwyn, have faith...your feelings for your loved one are genuine and you have nothing to worry about...just be yourself at the interview and do express your feelings to the consular officer and tell them how you have felt all this time without your partner.


We know we will be hearing the great news from you in the next few days, we just know we will!

Do I need to take a copy of the I-129f??

Your list is 100% complete, so no worries! You dont really need the NOA 1&2 and copy of I-129F. I did NOT have copy of I-129F at all. I just had the original and a copy of NOA2 but they didnt even bother to look at it. The did NOT even see the original employer letter(s), pay stubs, tax forms...just the photocopies were fine but I would recommend having originals just in case.

Here's what you need in the order you will need:

- When waiting outside the embassy: Interview letter + Passport

- Inside the embassy, 1st call: Original + copies of I-134(s), supporting financial documents (bank letters, letter from employer, pay stubs etc), birth certificate, police cert. and passport

- Inside the embassy, 2nd call (The Interview): Lots of good luck which we all wish you loads of + any other things the consular officer may ask to see for proof of relationship (phone bills, photos etc)

Thanks for all the support for the interview next week. Everytime I think about it I get knots in the stomach.
Ohhh one thing you seem to have forgotten in your list Jahan is something waterproof!

I have all the docs except copies of everything that were sent in the original I-129F submission. I'll just take a few emails and copies of flight tickets, hope that will do!

I hope the bank is open at 0830 on Monday as I am out of the country working and fly back tomorrow. I have only had packet 4 for 6 days and not had the opportunity to pay.

Ohhh one other thing....If Approved will they SMS the passport to a place of work or hotel?...does anyone know?

Firstly, good luck to everyone who has interviews next week! I'm sure we're all feeling the same, dread, insomnia, panic, and sure that something will go wrong but I think it's natural to worry and after we'll all wonder what the fuss was about.

I have all my paperwork straight apart from one problem. I only have 6 months worth of bank statements. I stupidly had a clear out of paperwork before applying and didn't think I'd need any further back than 6 months. Last week I went to the bank to get copies, but they take at least a week to come through and there's no guarantee they will be with me by Wednesday in time for my interview Thursday morning. I do have my letter saying when my account was opened, spreadsheet of my withdrawals and deposits in the last 6 months and statements from savings accounts showing I have in excess of £50,000 in them. I don't work so don't have any payslips.

Will this be a problem? Also do I need to give the embassy copies of all my bank statements?

Any help would be appreciated.

The pink form that you will be given for the courier service asks you where u want the passport/documents delivered. This can be any address, whether work or hotel but remember that it can take 3-5 days for the passport to be returned, so hotel may not be a very good option. I had my interview on Mar 16 (Thu) and got a text message from the courier service yesterday (Saturday) that my passport will be delivered on Monday 20th March.

Also you can nominate someone else to receive your passport for you BUT they will have to show YOUR identification like a driving license or a bank statement. Good luck with your interview!

oh yeah...and definitely some waterproof clothing etc

Oh thanks Jahan&Christine that's very encouraging to hear. I am self sponsoring, Dave's been out of work for a few months but starts a new job on Tuesday so I couldn't really use him as backup. OK back to my spreadsheets of never ending bank transactions!

Oh and Roshon isn't nearly as worried as I'd like him to be..... he's like "you'll be fine Love"!! Just coz I've done all the visa stuff so to him it seems like a breeze grrr!! I told him off so now he's trying to act worried like i'm that stupid!! I might not call him for a while after my interview just to show him what the worrying is like haha

Well I FINALLY got my date -- March 27 -- however it is no good because himself is out of the country then. Thanks for the 1 week notice! I seem to recall people having luck moving inconvenient dates in the past -- do you email requesting a better time, what do you say?

Ahhhh interview on wednesday...but i'm leaving tomorrow so won't be on VJ till I get back hopefully after my approval

By the way I reckon I win for being the most ripped off for the pics - £18!!!!! I considered leaving it till we got to London but I had sever paranoia so thought what the hell!!! I was in a bad mood about it when I bumped into my friend who is goin to work on the disney crusieliner.....she paid £25 for her pics !!

Anyway hopefully I'll be bearing good news on wednesday night send me some good vibes on wednesday please!

We are hoping that maybe since our case was close to yours timeline-wise we might get some good news soon. Have to ask though.. did you get the P3? or just an interview date? Cuz we still waiting on the P3 from the Embassy... I finally got an e-mail response (after 2 weeks) saying:

"The Immigrant Visa Unit can confirm receipt of the visa files in the Embassy. Your husband and step-son can expect to hear from the Immigrant Visa Unit in approximately 4 - 6 weeks regarding an appointment date for the formal visa interview."

which is a bit confusing to us.. Not sure if this means he's going to get a letter with an interview date along with the P3 or what?

No matter what we are soooooo happy for you both.. I feel like crying I'm so happy...

Hi , I have got my interview date earlier this month on 21st of March , but I cant attend because of my personal reason , So I wrote a letter with my detail on it , just explained why I cant go ,then they gave me another interview date just like what expected.I think the London embassy has done very good job and very thoughtful.Good luck to you !

Just got a reply back from the embassy that they have not yet received Nigel's checklist. It was sent about a month ago so I'm hoping it's at the embassy and just hasn't been opened rather than lost in the mail. I'm not sure Nigel sent it registered mail unfortunately. So basically no new news here. Still waiting for that darn packet 4 with our interview date!!

your petitions were complete the day before mine at NVC, you should email them on a regular (maybe every other day basis) I emailed them politley asking if they had a date scheduled yet, the replys i got were realy nice, also you can call DOS if London has scheduled you an interview date DOS will know!!
Just incase you dont have the number for them here it is.......202-663-1225,as soon as the man answers (recorded voice) hit 1-1-0 it takes you straight to an operator,
dont take any notice of what the standard reply emails, here is a copy of the email i got from them......

An appointment has been scheduled for April 28 at 09:00 a.m. Written confirmation of the date and time of the appointment has been sent to you.

Your husband is not required to provide you with his 2005 tax returns. The Immigrant Visa Unit allow a grace period between the end of the tax year and the date petitioners are required to present the latest tax return.

I cleared out the list from 2005...jpkeswim's waiver was denied and I don't think we'll ever hear back from that CR-1.
