We got our visa!!!!!!!!
It was a hectic week, after not seeing my hubby for almost 11 months... I could only get vacation time for a week & he still had to work most of it. I flew out Sun, March 5th, got into Gatwick March 6 around 10am or so, Tony & his dad picked me up at the airport. Tony had to work that night, so I was left alone all night, same with Tuesday night....but he did get off early so we could make it to the Consulate on time.
The interview was Wednesday morning @ 9:30am. Tony was so nervous (I knew it would be ok, thanks to reading the threads here). We got there & lined up around 845am, they were running behind. Finally they were letting the 930's in, we had to laugh because the guy checking passports & appointment letters looked (and acted) just like a friend of ours, so that calmed Tony down a bit.
So we go through the security hut, walk around the building, we go in & I leave my camera with the man at the desk. Go through the 2nd set of doors & take our number....we got #20. The room wasn't what I imagined, all the chairs & the tv monitors with the numbers in queue & showing who was at what window....
So for what seems like an hour or so, we get called to window 15. The guy asks Tony for all the papers on the checklist...he asks for the affidavit, but he didn't want to see my employer letter, tax returns or bank letter....I was kind of mad cuz I had to gather all of this, at least he could look at it. He told us to sit back down. I'm not sure how much time had passed, but we finally got called up to window 13 (lucky 13), and got a really nice, friendly lady.....who thanked me for being there for moral suppport for my husband, but I wasn't to say anything, just stand there and look pretty ( which made me laugh, and relaxed Tony some more). She asked Tony to put his index finger on the print machine, but she had trouble getting a good print....he works with his hands, so his print is hard to read. She shuffled thru the paperwork a bit and then started with the questions:
1) When did you & your wife marry?
April 12, 2006
2) How did you meet?
online
3) Any particular site?
No, just a chat room. I go into a chat room while I'm downloading stuff so I don't get booted and she started Imng me
4) What do you do for work?
merchandiser @ Tesco
5) What do you plan on doing in the States?
I'd like to get into IT, I was going to university for that, but whatever I can get to start off would be fine
and that was it, she pointed to the wall behind us to the SMS sign & said follow that & pay the courier fee because you've been APPROVED!!!!!! I did a little happy bounce & I think I squeaked too
The interview itself took about 3 minutes....so much easy than I thought it would be
So now, I'm back in Texas......and Tony is coming home April 28, 2006 just 7 weeks!!!!!!!! So I'm checking the price of flights for him. And I brought some of his DVDs & PC games back with me, so he will have less to try & bring home with him.
YEEEEAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
