WooooOoWOooooo 14 more days to go!!!!!!!!! I find it quite odd that the embassy gave us a date so far out from the time that Davo sent in his forms.... its wierd seeing so many people get dates before us now... but I suppose thats how the cookie crumbles. Best wishes to everyone with upcoming interviews and I look forward hearing about Raydin's interview experience.

omg...omg...omg omg omg... omg...
forgot what i was going to say now..
oh yeah... [font=Fixedsys]APPROVED!!!!
Just got back from London.
Getting in the building is the hardest part, was there 25 mins early, stood in line in the icy winds outside for almost an hour just to get to security, by the time i got in the bulding i was 30 minutes late, but everyone in line behind me was 11am interview time also so it didnt seem to matter.
As for the interview itself all my fears where for nothing, they didnt look at half the stuff I brought. Waited about 30 minutes to be called, 5 mins handing over documents, waited less than 2 mins before being called again, a 2 minute chat with a very nice lady consular about Lori and I and I was approved.
I hope it goes as well for the rest of you as our experience (apart from the bitter cold wait outside)
If I could offer any advice i would say
1. Be prepared for the cold wait outside, dress warm and dont complain about it.
2. Take all documents they ask for, I didnt need them, seems most dont, but why risk it?
3. Pay for courier after interview or feel the wrath of a rather firery scandinavian lady on the desk
4. Dont panic
Gonna have a beer and celebrate now.. good luck to all up coming interviews..

Congrats!!!!!! I'm leaving for London on March 5th (4 days), we have our interview on Wednesday, March 8th @ 9:30am. I am so anxious to get it done. I have complete confidence that everything will be ok, but my poor hubby is a wreck. We have everything we need. I have my bank letter, employer letter, tax returns, paystubs. I'm bringing some photos, letters.... I think we've got it covered
The only part that sucks is he works nights @ Tesco and he won't get off until 5am or so, then he has to take the buses back home to get me & then we head to the Embassy.
Do we just wait in line OR do we go to the security person & show them our letter?
Preparing to do my happy dance
cheers,
Christine

You get in the line and when you reach the bloke with the clipboard have your letter and passport ready he will check your name then move you along.
Have a nice flight over to the uk and dont worry about things you will be fine.

I also want to say a special thank you to Estella and Kotae both of whom have helped me thru this process. Kotae is living the high life in the windy city right now.
Also, thanks to EVERYONE who has helped me thru this, too, and in the near future will allocate time to help others again, if I can. Has been difficult of late!
Now, onto the other forums!
Oh, in my packet 4, I was told to take 3 US passport sized photos. Only 2 are actually required. The third is only required if you dont submit a photo at the medical.
Best of luck to everybody forthcoming. I arrived at the Embassy just after 830am, was inside at 9am and was out just after 1030am. My actual interview was scheduled for 1030am, so I got a bit of a flyer thankfully!

Thanks, and the best of luck to you, though Im sure you wont need it.
I found the hardest part was actually preparing the docs the night before. I wasnt nervous in the slightest, and, I guess as long as you have confidence in your relationship, everything is fine.
First off, You are asked to have your interview appt. letter and passport in hand whilst waiting in line outside, plus your visa fee receipt. Then you're called into a hut which leads to the entrances to the embassy. Its akin to a security check at an airport.
Once inside and greeted by further security, you proceed up some steps to the large waiting room, where you are greeted and take your ticket/number and the wait begins.
Once called to the first booth I was asked for my police doc and birth cert and provided copies too. 2 photographs and the I-134. The guy didnt have any interest in my bank docs or employers letter. I also handed over my passport. I was also given my x-rays.
I was then provided with a pink form to fill in whilst waiting, which was the visa courier service form.
Incidentally, my lucky number is 7. My ticket number was 007.
When called again, i was called to booth 13. Once again, my fiancee's lucky number is 13!
Here I had my fingerpirnts taken and asked how and when I met my fiancee, also what she does for a living. I then signed the ds-whaterver form it is, my mind's a blank, twice.
Then printed my fiancee's name on the form stating my intent to marry her.
I was then sworn in, and Interview 13 wished me the best of luck and safe travels!
Then I took my pink form to the SMS desk at the front where the courier service is paid for.
I must've walked past the Embassy twice when I arrived, as for the life of me I couldnt find 'number 5 Upper grosvenor st'. I didnt realise that it was the massive building in a block on its own, and was approaching from the reverse, so the US flag was hidden from view!!
Oh and the eagle atop the building is very impressive. If you want to save yourself 10 minutes....DONT TAKE A PHOTO, even from across the other side of the park!! Nuff said!
And, if anyone travels by coach to Victoria, there's an awesome boozer just round the corner from the coach station, The Shakespeare', where I had a well deserved celebratory pint. Bloody knackered!

Hello
Just wanted to let you all know that I got here ok. The flight and POE was a breeze, the only hard thing was lugging the 7 cases through the airport then finding a taxi big enough to take home.

Is there any way to call London and actually speak with someone? I'm getting really worried now that it's been four weeks since they got our Packet 3 and people who sent theirs out later have gotten interview dates and they are still saying they have no record of our case (James has a copy of the signature so someone signed for our package there, so they must have them somewhere).
Miranda, it's not unusual for London to be slow with opening mail. If you sent packet 3 via recorded delivery and you know it was signed for, it's very unlikely that it's completely lost.
London was slower when Ewen and I were going through. We did indeed wait 12 full weeks between Ewen's returning packet 3 and his interview, and it was 8 weeks from when he sent back his packet until he even heard about a date.

Only the premium rate number - 09042 450 100 ? Thats £1.20 per min+ Sometimes you get answers to queries but I doubt too much with actual interview dates.
I forget how long mine was, maybe 3 weeks or so, so try not to worry just yet, Im sure everything will be apples!
On a different note, I dropped them a 'few emails' in varying formats requesting a quick date as we had made 'plans'. Im not in any way advocating this, BUT it MAY have worked for us.

I'm just worried that something is wrong since people who send in P3 after us are getting through, that must mean ours is lost or something is wrong with it, or we got a really slow guy on it!!

Congratulations Richi!!! Hope your passport comes soon!! When are you planning to leave then? How exciting.....!
James n Miranda - That is really worrying for you, luckily you got it signed for so at least you know it got to the embassy. I just emailed them saying I sent my packet 3 back on such a date and have I got an interview yet.....I don't know if your already doing this but if I were you I'd email them everyday! maybe it'll encourage them to get your file from the bottom of the pile!

I wouldn't worry about them saying they haven't received your packet. I have been emailing them the past few days. The first statement in the email said that they had recieved our packet. then they ask me a few questions (referring to things on our paperwork so i know they have it) and said they would advise me on receipt of my answer. When I email them back with the answers to their questions the very next day I got the "canned" response saying they have not recieved out packet. blah blah blah.
I think they have several people who answer the emails. Some are helpful and others just send out the standard responses.
Good luck,
Baileyj

Don't waste your money on the phone calls. Those people don't know squat. Better to stick to e-mail.
It does look to me like London is picking up the pace a bit and getting back to normal. Would be good to see things return to the way they were a year ago.
Yorkie, glad to see you made it safely....
richi...no worries....i knew you were hammered....LOL

We're still waiting also for an interview date! Getting annoyed now. We sent back our checklist on 2/8. We are doing DCF, CR1. My husband's job requires him to give 3-months notice & we wanted to move to NJ in time for my mom's birthday.
My mom has not net her new grandson who is 4 months old soon. So I'm really bummed now that is unlikely we will celebrate her birthday as a family.
My husband did email the Embassy last night enquiring about it. I assumed DCF would be quicker.
PLEASE, everyone, swing by the Waivers thread and say hi to Mary and Tom. They have a letter from USCIS and they'll be opening it when Tom gets home from work. Hope this is good news for them!

Congrats to Richi- good luck to everyone having interviews soon and also good luck to all those waiting for the interview date- in my opinion the waiting between sending packet 3 and the getting the interview is the worst bit, followed closely by the night before the actual interview! Good luck!

Has anyone of you called the Department of state? I believe they have the same information as Embassies and consulates do. They are very very nice people to talk to.. Give it a try atleast. DoS number is 1-202-663-1225
Good Luck to all those who are waiting for the interviews.

Its not the 'secret', it was plod being a jobsworth and questioning the reason for photgraphy!!
The eagle is very impressive sitting atop the building.
Still, got some decent photos out of it.

When you finally get your visa in the mail.. DONT open the envelope eager to see your passport.. its seperate in the plastic bag.. even tho it states clearly on it NOT to open.. I did.. oops.
I wasnt the first and doubt i will be the last.
Thankfully they are going to let me return it to be re sealed and not call me back there.
Dont fall into the same trap

On the waiting in line at the embassy thing.... here's the problem; my fiancé is disabled, and can walk but really cannot stand up for any period of time. We called at one point, and they said that there IS a lift, but, well, if we have to wait half an hour to get to talk to the man about the lift, it's going to be a huge problem.
I'm not sure what to do... the interview is at 10 (tomorrow, eek), so I'd considered getting there very early, but we already have to leave at 5:30 a.m. to get there, so not really sure.
Any thoughts really appreciated...

Nina, my interview was at 1030am last week. the line starts at around 830am and you're allowed in, in the order that you're inline, not by time of your interview, if that makes sense. There are also police officers who may be able to assist you. I was in the embassy building by about 850am.
So, when you get there, aim for around 8am-830 and there;s both police and embassy workers who, going by the way they dealt with tons of enquiries when I was there, will be more than happy to assist you. Dont worry though, they'll help you out.
there's assistance at the front of the line, so you'll be fine there and also once past the first security screening, Im sure someone will help you there too.

Wow, we're in Norwich, so to get there at 8, we'd have to leave... hm, maybe 4 a.m. Sigh! I was thinking that we should leave at 5:30, but maybe we really should leave at 4...
Was there somewhere to sit once you got in? I'm just so worried about this... not really about the interview part at all, just about the logistics of getting him there, and getting in, and all that...

I am in B'ham so I had to leave at 4am, just to make sure. Arrived in London at 630am. Walked to Oxford st, which is about 10 mins away and sat and had breakfast, though there is a Starbucks just a couple of streets away.
I did get there (london) too early, but I allowed time for getting lost and also to relax for a while.
Once you're into the building, you are sent up a small flight of stairs into a large room and greeted there by an official and take a seat there and wait for you number to be called. You're called up twice. The first time is to gie in you I-134, passport, police cert and birth cert, then, you're sent back to your seat and wait for the next part, which I guess is classed as the actual interview. This involves a couple of questions, finger printing, and the oath. Then its 'good luck on your travels' You then pay for the SMS visa service which is £9.50 and leave the building..
As for getting your fiancee in the building, Im quite positive someone will be there to assist you.

Well, it all turned out ok.
We got there at about 8:45... had actually aimed for 8, but the traffic was terrible. I talked to the guy with the clipboard and the girl who was sorting people out, and they seemed to have NO idea that there was some way to go in with a lift, but they said they'd figure it out by the time we got to the head of the line. So we stood in line, which is part of what I was really worried about, because just standing for long periods is hard for him at the moment, and then they put all the people with 8:30 appointments in another line... and then they put the 9:00 people in that line... and then they put the 9:30 people in that line... and by this time, I'm getting frustrated and worried and wondering what the point of getting there early was, BUT we're at the head of the line, and by this time, Michael's looking like he's going to die, so the clipboard guy calls someone and they take us around the back through the parking garage... no security that way, how weird... and we go sit down.
And then it was all pretty straightforward... in the interview bit, they asked the usual stuff, how did you meet and when, did you know your fiance had been married before, do you know her children, do your families know, have you visited her family... I think that's it.
THEN... and this is the only generally relevant part... they said, everything is fine, but these pictures are 3/4 face, and that's the way we used to want them, but now we need full-face so you have to go get more pictures. So we do... and I run them back up while Michael sits. This was not a big deal, but I swear that I've read in a LOT of places that you have to have your ear showing, and I didn't see anything different from that ever, so that's my words of advice about this... take two sets of pics, one each way, and then you have everything.
Really, all things considered, this all went about as smoothly as it could have, right from the beginning. Filed mid-October, done early March... filing through Vermont helps a lot, not that you get to pick... and so it's on to selling the house and getting on with the wedding plans, yay!
And I just want to thank everyone on this forum; it's been so tremendously helpful... and soothing, just to read everyone else's experiences when we were going crazy!
