First off, please forgive me if this is posted in the wrong area; I have looked around for similar stuff within the forums & couldn't find any

I will be moving to the USA towards the end of this year / early next year; my question is this:

I had a case listed in court by the train company & was fined £200 for evading a train fare about 18 months ago; the stupid woman at the station didn't believe me when I said I had a valid season ticket & could prove it!

I have two questions:

1. Does anyone know if evading a fare on a train is classed as having a criminal record?

2. Does anyone know if this will stop me entering the USA; assuming it is classified as a criminal record?

this would seem to be only a misdemenor? i really dont think it would prevent you from entering the states on visa provided you meet all the necassary visa requirments. what type of visa? i think you dont need to worry.

Many thanks for your answer & quick response; I think you may be right, classed as only a minor offense / misdemeanor etc.

Anyone else got any thoughts?

Oh brad, I'm still undecided about what Visa, we thought about K1, but after seeing attorney in USA a few weeks ago that may not be the best / fastest route, I'll let you know!

I hope that attorney didn't tell you to commit visa fraud by entering on the visa waiver program and adjusting afterwards. A surprising number do—and while you may get away with it, if you get caught it's a lifetime ban.
