So, wonderful news I was chatting online with my husband when all of a sudden I get an email and it says case notification. As I expected it was a notice that our case had been approved but I later realized that it was for my I-130 not my K-3 like I thought. I know this means real good news because the I-130 saves alot of later hassles with AOS and stuff so my question is:.
At this point is the I-130 going to take around the same time as K-3 (as far as interview dates and packages being sent) or is the K-3 going to still be faster? the sooner I have my baby here with me the better.
I appreciate all the advice and comments, thanks in advance.

It is wonderful news - congratulations!
In answer to your question, though, the I-130 is going to be at the NVC much longer than the I-129f will. All the timelines I've read have shown the K3 flies through the NVC while the CR1/IR1 takes at least a couple of months. You'll still probably get your K3 first & then need to figure out if you're going to AOS or have your hubby make the trip back to his home country for the interview.
Regardless, at least you're making progress!!!

From here it will take a few weeks to get to the NVC. It will take approximately 3 months at the NVC. They will send your husband the DS-3032 and you the bill for the I-864. After they receive the DS-3032 from your husband they will send the bill for the DS-230 to whomever your husband assigns to be his power of attorney (for lack of a better term). Once they have recorded the payments for each of the bills they will send you the forms. You will fill out the forms and send them back (separately). They will review it to make sure that everything is correct , and then it really depends on the consulate from there. There are 2 different types of consulates. One of them the NVC will send the forms to the consulate, schedule the appointment, and notify you about a month before the interview. With the other consulate the NVC sends the forms directly too them and they schedule their own interviews. Some consulates are quick, some are slow.
Now for the K-3, they are sent to the NVC in a few weeks, the NVC then forwards the case to the consulate about a week later. They will send you the packet to fill out and schedule the interview.
Hope this helps.

We received approval on the I-130 before we got approved for the I-129F, however the I-130 is still at NVC and my husband has his interview scheduled for May 23 for his K-3 visa. So the answer is that the K-3 may still get you reunited faster.
