Am looking to apply for state ID in the state of Florida...
Has anyone applied and if so, how long was it valid for?
The following link says EAD maybe required..is it true?

EAD OR Green-Card, Many states need evidence of legal presence in the USA. A Passport with voided K-1 visa and expired I-94 card is not evidence for them.

I got my State ID in Florida without an EAD or a GC using an unexpired I-94. Once I received the I-797 receipt for the AOS, I went back and was able to trade it in for a driver's license.

Thats cool! Here in SC, they ask Green Card for that.

My husband had a tourist visa with an expired-4-years-ago I-94, and he got his license. The first time, he showed a letter from his lawyer showing he had a lawsuit and couldn't leave the country (heh) and they took it. The 2nd time, he showed his AOS NOAs. Got it both times.
A friend who has been on an expired tourist visa for 15 years (his parents brought him here as a kid) just got his license in Pinellas county. Pretty sure he hasn't filed AOS yet, as his wife is still only a permanent resident.
FL tends to be pretty easy.

Thanks for the replies guys...We went to the DMV office and they wanted a K-1 visa with atleast 30 days before expiration along with the passport and the Receipt notice for I-485...
The person tried to give me a hard time telling me they needed atleast 30days prior to K-1 visa's expiration and I told her she only needed an unexpired K-1 and finally she relented....
Take print outs from your DMV website and that comes in handy!
We still have to wait to get the ID in the mail and will take 2-3 weeks

Ha. The K-1 expired the moment you used it at the POE.

In fact, I came to the US two days before the expiry date on my K-1, and I didn't apply for my State ID until about two months later.... long after the expiry date on my visa.

Florida is too easy - that's why there are so many illegals here

.
I think that you should be able to get your DL or ID with an NOA, but not if you're illegal.

State ID is used what Identification purposes and maybe used to open bank accounts and stuff...It cannot be used to drive a vehicle...you MUST have DL for driving any vehicle...
