Guys, can you suggest me on when should I buy ticket. Fiancee's interview in Mumbai consulate is on May 12.

Should I buy the ticket now or wait till interview is over?

If I buy it now for May 24th, then I will save on $$$.

Kindly advise me. Also, what did you guys do - DanielParul, CJIndia and 2ndstage, neha, ELW and others...

I bought before the interview and based on my calculations I thought I had 6 weeks of cushion in my dates.... Visa arrived 9 days before... I sweated bullets .......

Thanks a lot, fwaguy. I am planning to keep about 3 weeks of room in between. Our case is very simple and hoping no trouble at all.

Hi,

Yes, buying ticket earlier always gets you better price. We have purchased our tickets, our interview date is may 22nd.

Hope it helps....

Thanks Mgk. How much time do you have between interview date and your expected travel date?

We personally played it safe and only bought the ticket after receiving the passport with stamped visa. Visa is never guaranteed and we took the advice of others on VJ who said only buy the ticket after the visa is granted.

However I definitely understand the temptation to buy the ticket beforehand. If you do buy beforehand, I would suggest trying to get one that allows change of dates or cancellation without too much penalty charge, just in case.

Good advice here. We did the same, and bought the tickets after we received the approved Visa in hand. In fact, I recall we purchased the tickets the same day we received the approved Visa in hand.
