All this good news is making my day better!
I've been really emo today.

Spanish is kicking my butt, I don't know why I decided to minor in it. Gareth's Skype phone is still broken, it's going to cost more to fix it than it would to buy a new one, so he's gonna do that but can't get the money until next weekend. I did get to chat to him yesterday, he was on a friends computer, so that made me happy. But today has just been blah...with school, and I am just missing Gareth sooo much right now and this waiting it frustrating!!
But like I said, the percentages are cheering me up! I hope to see more approvals soon, whether they're mine or not! The more there are before me, the closer we are to ours!
Have a good day everyone and good luck!!

Oh and I was looking on Igor's list...and I moved up one! To 116! Maybe the day will get better! I do have a quick question though...on his list where it says last updated, it says June 11th...but on USCIS it says June 4th. Does it meant that I was touched on June 11th it just wasn't recorded by the USCIS? Or is it another update date...something totally different? Thanks!

Stephanie, Igor's list has nothing to do with the USCIS. It is simply a list taken from the VJ database of filers. The 'last updated' means the last time that couple updated their timeline.

Guys its totally normal to go long stretches without any touches. I accidentally deleted all my data between NOA1 and NOA2 but I was touched a grand total of 2 times! The general theme seems to be several touches close to your NOA1 date and then a stagnant period of a couple of months before you see anymore action. A touch is basically someone acknowledging that they have your case, it doesn't actually mean it is being processed it could just be moved from one shelf to the other. Some officers scan their files every time they move away from their desk others it seems have broken scanners

It took about the same time for Nich-Nick's case and mine to be processed. Theirs was mauled and mine was not but we were both approved in the same sort of time.
Hope everyone is well today. I'm glad to see some movement at VSC

Yea, this was the same when my prior K1 was approved. Touches at beginning then nothing for a while and then NOA2.

You guys all know you are not notified of
touches, right? Just making sure because i've come across many who didn't know where to look.

In any case, Bex is right, many cases go the entire time wthout a date change (aka touch) so not to worry it doesnt have an impact on your case. Just seems some adjuticator's are more touchy than others.

We're at 98 now which feels good but as I mentioned earlier, many of the first 20 are either not active, been approved, or have received RFE's... also, like our good friends from March noted, they were approved whilst in the 60's.

It does feel good to be slipping down the list. Sux to move back up it too!
Well it's a beautiful Saturday and I'm going to do my best to enjoy it even though I am without my love.

Wishing you all a fabulous weekend full of strength, patience and positive thoughts!

FYI about Igor's list. The last two March approvals were #23 and #34 on Igors prior to their approvals yesterday so there's alot of stuff at the front of the list like Kim pointed out. I do think it's cleaned out some from when I was #100. Seems like I saw a Capt Ewok post where he said he did some manual removals and when really old ones go way past their date, they move to that other list on Igor's.

you have to enter the usa and a fiance, single not married with the k1. Ive seen some get denied for doing religoius ceremony in their own country.

There are all sorts of discussions here on legal vs. non-legal ceremonies and how it can/has effected others visa process. Some people have held a
non-legal ceremony in the beneficiary's country with no problems and will tell you as such. But, as Sal stated, others have had serious consequences.
We do not have a date. The NZ consulate is relatively fast so it should only be a matter of a few weeks after our petition is approved that Russell has his visa and is back home with us. Hopefully we'll be approved within the next few weeks which should put him home by August
*knocks on wood* but as with everything in this process... nothing is certain or clear. So... we will wait until visa is in hand to decide.
Thankfully, we have just an intimate ceremony planned for now and it doesn't matter to either of us where or when that is. As long as we can finally move on to all that awaits us ...we're good.

We will celebrate with a larger event when his family comes from NZ in the spring. We should be much more settled by then.

We're planning on having a real white dress, bridemaids, goomsmen, family and friends wedding after I graduate in May...so far I have May 23rd in mind. We hope to be approved sometime in July and hopefully have the visa in hand sometime in October....if all things so smooth. What we'll do is after Gareth gets here, we'll just pick one day after my classes(since I will still be in school then) to go to the courthouse and get legally married...and we can start the AOS and work permit(still cant remember the acronym for it lol) paperwork. Then the wedding will be in May.
We gotta make it seem "normal" as some say because some of my family (my dad and his side mainly) won't really get/possibly shun the fact that we did a K1 Visa. Sucks that we have to "pretend" but it's easier to just not hear their comments. The people who matter the most (my mom and her side and his family) have no problem and my mom is as anxious as I am for the approval.
An a May wedding will give me more time to plan...

I have a question on a somewhat related note...does anyone have a grasp on the process once the fiance gets to the states? i.e. how long it is taking now to get the work authorization, and at what point in the whole process can he get his SSN/drivers licence?
so close....good luck april filers!
KimandRuss
Jun 21 2008, 04:35 PM
Here's a link with more information regarding the Social Security card. Note: you should apply for this at least two weeks after entering (to be sure you are in the system) and within two weeks of the I-94 expiration date (to be sure it has time to process).
What is required for a drivers license varies by state. In MA you can drive for up to one year with your foreign license.
Looks like EAD (Employment Authorization Document
..for steff
) is taking a couple months as well as AP... 485 is a little longer. Who knows what it will be by the time we get there but at least we'll be together!

Fernanda,
We looked into this a bit. Because the church wedding in BR is not considered the "legal" wedding, usually the churches will not do it without a civil service first.. or a civil wedding license (I think)- . UNLESS you/ your family knows the priest well enough, etc.
what is that new word I learned..?? "jetinho"
So personally our plan is to marry here in the U.S. and then later have the religious ceremony in Brazil.
I teased Jamerson, "Wow, your gonna have a lot of anniversary dates to remember!"
He said, "yeah, maybe I should get a tattoo".

Reallyy??? I didnīt know that!!! That sucks! Yeah, youīre right, Iīll see if I can get the priest I know to do it, the "jeitinho brasileiro"!
I donīt see how a non legal cerimony would affect my K1, itīs not official, thatīs crazyl! But then how would anybody know we had a religious cerimony, right? That is if I can get a priest to do it. Itīs just that if I wait to do it after Iīm legally married and already living with him it just wonīt feel the same... =(
KimandRuss
Jun 22 2008, 09:23 AM
I understand Fernanda, it is a little crazy but it is what it is... many couples who have had these 'non-legal' ceremonies either brought pictures or mentioned it and the CO didnt quite see it the same...even though the law states otherwise...and they found themselves in a difficult place. We're just warning you. After all the heartbreaking stories i've read here on VJ I would just hate to see you go through that. Perhaps you can do it after your visa is in your passport? Some have opted to take that route. Just be sure not to mention it to the CBP either! It's the price we pay I suppose. Whatever you decide, i'm sure it will be beautiful.

The process is taking it's toll and we find we are getting more and more impatient as the days pass by. A week full of April approvals would do our psyche much good!

Another advice, if you don't mind
. If you do decide to have a religious ceremony in Brasil, if you two will be crossing the border together at POE be sure not to refer to each other as "husband" and "wife" or anything else to that extent. I heard of some people denied entry for the suspicion of been already married just because of those words!
Hope the rest of you Aprilers are hanging in there! Best of luck this week!!!

It's getting rough over here too and my poor baby is going stir crazy on the other side of the world

... so i'm working hard at changing my attitude and keeping some perspective as we wait. It's easier to do when you know your love is suffering, no? My turn to be the strong one!

So, this is your mission if you choose to accept it.... and this goes out to all filers.. not just April. We're all in this.

Anything that gives you warm fuzzies and reminds you of all the reasons you're on this journey in the first place... share it with us and hopefully we can replace some of this negative energy with positive....
Every time I get sad I think of that moment he is walking through the gates at Logan airport... again. As we've done so many times ....except this time he's home to stay! Leaping into his arms and causing a scene

...and then a few days of just him and I locked away in a beautiful room in Boston...away from the rest of the world and opening a new chapter to our lives together!

Our wedding will be special but THAT is the day that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Kim, you're so totally cool! I have a simple warm fuzzy. We hang out together on the phone alot since we have free calling. Yesterday he was going to make some tea and said in his best British butler impersonation, "Can I get Madam a cappuccino or coffee?" The warm fuzzy is knowing he
really will do such sweet, thoughtful things for me. I've spent my life happily doing things for people and not wanting anything in return. I've found somebody who wants to tend to me and it just makes me smile inside because I feel so loved.

Michael and I meet on MSN every day when he gets up in the morning (6 EST, 12 my time), and we spend the weekend together like that. Every evening I write him an email and tell him about my day, and he responds when he gets home from work. A warm, fuzzy feature of our everyday interaction is telling each other about any cats we may have seen, or sometimes sending each other links to videos or sites featuring kitties. We are both big cat (and animal) lovers, and are planning to get at least two kitties when we finally have our life together. Sometimes, when we have the weekend for ourselves, we look at furniture online, and discuss what we'd like to get for our new home.
He's coming to see me in one month's time, in order to spend his birthday (July 25) with me... We won't have a long time to spend together, but it will be enough.. And hopefully NOA2 will have already happened by then!

No one could broadcast this unless you posted your receipt number. All the information disclosed on the USCIS is 100% public information, and you could receive this information threw the freedom of information act simply by writing a request for it. With out any information about who the visa is for, the receipt number is completely arbitrary.
