This may be a silly question, but we rarely use cheques here, I haven't had a chance to speak to Steven, would he have to check his bank (Bank of America) to see if the cheque/check has been cashed? or is it sent back to him?

In most cases, your SO will get either the original check back with the bank statement or a copy of the check w/statement. The method will vary with the bank. Although, my credit union does not do either, I can go online and look at a copy of the canceled check.

Unfortunately, I cannot enlarge it to see my case number. huh.gif

So, I will have to wait on my snail mail copy.

Brian
KimandRuss
Brian! Why can't you enlarge it???? Right click and save it to your computer and open it with image editing software...that will have a zoom in.

Nico... BOA has everything online. He will be able to see his check there usually very soon after it's processed!

Okay, stop reading my spam mail. I am starting to develop a complex. blush.gif

Seriously folks, try the veal - it's good and I will be here for the next 3 to 6 months.

Cool beans, I received my NOA1 yesterday. star_smile.gif

It was dated for April 3rd, mailed on April 7th, and received on April 10th.

As I promised, now that I am confident my petition has found a nice folder to call home, I will patiently wait for the outcome.

A quick check of Igor's list shows about 15 people on visajourney who have filed K-1 visa's for April in Vermont. Where is everybody? I would love to know how everyone else is doing.

Hey Guys.

Just dropping in to say hi and send everyone positive thoughts, hugs, patience etc...

Nico - Its good to hear that you have gotten another package off. Our first one should have gotten there on Feb 5th and it still hasn't surfaced. We never got the return receipt from USPS either - will be avoiding them like the plague when I finally make the move. People have interviews booked from the same time we should have started our journey which sucks but at least we are in the queue now.

Once you get your NOA1 you'll feel a lot better ... for a short while at least smile.gif

Best wishes everyone

You were a huge help Bex, you already being in the same position helped us to make the decision to resend it all, and yesterday my Fiance told me that they cashed our Cheque, so I have absolutely no regrets in re-sending everything smile.gif . So I thank you very much.

Brian, I feel we definetly wont be short on interesting topics in the next 3 - 6 months! laughing.gif laughing.gif

KimandRuss
That's good news Nico! good.gif I wonder what happens if/when they find the other.

Still debating which way to send ours.

We have a ridiculous amount of evidence (10 years) that I need to sort through today to send with the file. Most of it is put together but I still need to go through emails...chats...thousands of pics... fun, fun! We got together all of our credit card info yesterday and realized that we've spent more than $60,000 in travelling around the world the past two years! ohmy.gif Yeah, that hurt! I've still not heard back from the assesor's office regarding my divorce decree. He told me last month I could pick it up on Tuesday and to call back and confirm this but I called three times this week with no call back. I will NOT be a happy camper if this is put off even one more day! ranting33va.gif

I hope you're all having a wonderful Sunday!
Nicoxcx
I am guessing they would be looking for evidence for every year? or atleast it would help tell your story alot easier, as to how to bung it down, I have no idea, being very indecisive by nature I am hopeles at that kind of stuff! I am afraid to look at how much we have spent travelling to and from each other, I dont regret it, but when you are no millionaire it certainly gives you a bit of a shock!

I dont see any reason why they would put it off, the fact that the asessesor isnt even answering the phone is ridiculous, I guess its just a case of keep calling and go up on tuesday and hope its there, which I am sure it will be.

Good luck!, I know you have both been waiting a good while to get these papers sent off, and we will have a good reason to celebrate when that happens! hopefully on Tuesday!

I am sure they will have it for you this week. Keep the faith. Last week was spring break for most of the country so maybe they were short staffed.

Brian

brian87
So Kim, what's the story. Please tell us that everything is set. I am prepared for drama with my fiance petition once they start to process it, but I can't imagine going through drama just to submit a petition.

Keep the faith, plus on the bright side thankfully your Vermont and not CSC, otherwise this delay could cost you two or three months.

Hi folks.... well, we're official!

Well, as stated... we've finaly got the paperwork sent yesterday and we're stoked about that! It was no easy task though! Some of you know that i've already waited years for my ex to sign the divorce agreement. Russell being booted from the country...etc. Well if that wasn't enough... I had everything scanned in, forms filled out...etc all stored on my hard drive for months now. Just waiting to be printed up and organized into the packet. Well, after printing off all our pictures and a few other things on Sunday I went to reboot and windows wouldn't load. It was late and because I work with computers I thought 'no big deal' I will finish up tomorrow... yes well, turns out my hard drive failed and I couldn't get to any of it. After diagnosing the problem, I didn't have time to see if I could copy the drive over and had to get on another computer at home and scan and print everything again. I had to dig for emails that were still on my server and not downloaded to outlook. Lost all our chat sessions...etc. Needless to say, I was up pretty late getting that all done. On top of that, I had 4 calls into registrar of deeds office last week to make sure I could pick up my decree yesterday....with no call back. I decided I'd take the 1/2 hour drive into the city and drop in to see if I could get it anyway. When I got there I was sent to an entirely different building...where I was sent back to the same place I started!! At this point all I could do is shake my head. Anyway, I got it! From that moment on nothing else seemed to matter and I was all smiles! I spent about 40 minutes in line at the post office and sent the package overnight. As soon as I got into my office I had a call from the registrar's office.... my decree was ready to be picked up! I just had to laugh! The girl that called was the same one who had actually typed it up for me yesterday while I waited. Too funny.

So the package was very well organized and very throrough, with tabbed off sections and I went over everything twice but I still worry because of the loss of all my previous information and the mad rush in which I put it together again. It still feels really good to have it done and to be in the waiting game. I know for many this is the part they stress about most and maybe after a few weeks of waiting we'll get there too ...but we've waited SOOOO long just to get to this point and for now, we're just so happy to be on to the next chapter. I did take a few pics of the petition package on my cell to send to Russell and would be happy to share if anyone is interested.

As far as the CSC vs VSC disparity.... when we first started posting at VJ they were still in the backlog from the influx in July and it was taking 6-10 months for an approval at both offices. Even though i'm not with CSC, it still infuriates me that they have not taken lessons from VSC to speed up their process. It's very unfair! Of course, we're thrilled to be filing with Vermont..but after watching so many wait like that last year and after waiting so many years just to be together we're really happy to just be able to finally file!

Thanks for all the support! It really helps keeps things in perspective knowing we're not alone!

Vermont received my fiance petition today, April Fool's Day. Which is appropriate because I am a fool in love. yes.gif

I just hope that the speedy Vermont processing times continue for us Vermont filers. I have really enjoyed reading the Vermont filers threads for Jan., Feb., and March. I just love those recent timelines where the filers have already received NOA2's.

And I love the ongoing Juarez, Mexico thread. Especially the long post by Ronin last year with a great commentary and about a dozen photo's. I feel like I have already been there and done it.

Anyway, I look forward to sharing the Visa Journey with this great web forum. Now, I just need to research how to set up an official timeline. wink.gif

Brian

I sent in our I-129F on the 30th and it was returned due to his passport pic not being the 2x2. Luckily i knew this and was going to see my Fiance and was able to get a new pic just when the application was coming back. We have resent it on Monday so were wishing for the best also.
Good Luck to everyone
Maybe everything will go smooth and fast....

Hi peach..welcome to the april thread. smile.gif Sorry to hear your petition got returned! So many here seem to have sent somthing other than the 2x2 and it was ok. I wonder why they would send yours back? Any ideas? Did it not meet the other criteria?

Congratulations!!!! I know you've both been waiting a long time for this ... I'm so happy for both of you.

Side note - I know the frustration of the computer problems, ran into a similar situation, but months before we filed. I found some software called Knoppix (it's basically like Linux) and with a flash drive and the Knoppix DVD I burned, I was able to recover all our old emails, chat logs, etc. and everything else I wanted off the harddrive, then reformatted it. So if need be, do a search online for Knoppix, you might be able to recover everything you need/want (just an idea).

Congratulations again, I hope the process goes quickly for you both and all the other April filers!!!! good.gif
KimandRuss
Hi Amanda, thanks for that. I actually create and maintain websites, write scripts and fix computers for a living so I do know I can hopefully recover my info at some stage but this was all the night before we filed soooooo that's why so much stress. Thanks tho, I appreciate the info!

I figured you were computer savvy after having read your post!!! I just thought I'd share the info on Knoppix, because I had never heard of it. I do programming and have for 10+ years, and still had never heard of it, and I thought it was a pretty cool piece of software.

I can only imagine how that was for you, I mean I went into a panic and it was 2+ months before we were filing. I'm sorry you had to go through the stress, but very happy you were able to get it all back together!!! I'm sure you'll be fine with everything you did send.

So now you can de-stress a little with it sent off. I just am happy to see you got to the point of filing. You've been around offering encouragement and support for all of us filing before you. Thanks for that!!!

Here's to a speedy journey for the two of you!!! good.gif

Hello everyone. My name is Suzy and I'm an April filer as well (I actually just sent in the packet today) It was a big load off of my shoulders. My fiancé is from Perú, we met over 2 years ago on the internet (before that I was soooo against meeting people on the internet, funny how things turn out). I've been to Perú twice, the first time for almost a month and the second time for only 9 days. I miss my hunny. It's hard. Skype saves my life every day.

I'm so excited. I can't wait for this to be all approved so he can be here. To be honest, I wouldn't care where we were as long as we were together, but due to the fact that I have two kids from a previous relationship, I can't move away. My mom would kill me if grandma couldn't be with her muchkins, lol.

Off-Topic2.gif

So I just wanted to say congratulations to all for starting the process & wish us all luck!

HighwayStar
As some of you may remember, we originally were February filers, but lost almost two months due to my fiancé check being rejected because it had a different address (I wonder why it took them that long to realize it, but I also know we shouldn't be surprised about anything at this point). Our petition was sent for the second time on March 28, but as our NOA1 was sent on April 1, I suppose we can consider ourselves April filers as well!

I've been checking the USCIS website almost every day, and we haven't had any touches so far - though I know it's not really that important. Let's just hope VSC starts churning out approvals by early May, since it seems to have somewhat slowed down in the past few weeks.

A smooth, safe journey to everyone! smile.gif

lol yeah Kim, My Fiance spent a good couple others complaining to me about people not buying decent scanners & stampers biggrin.gif

Welcome Suzy! Atleast now you have started the process now all you have to do is wait for a NOA1 to make the entire thing Official, and then try not to let checking The USCIS website take over your life!, I have lost hope in it not taking over my life biggrin.gif .

Welcome Highway Star! nice to see you have your NOA1, Me and my Fiance also lost about a month because our paperwork got lost, somewhere (dont ask me where lol) so I know how it feels to finally get it there to get its own folder!
william_wallace
Let hope everyone filing in April goes well, and those before and after. I have just sent my fiance my documents today. She's hoping to get it at Vermont by the end of the month.
KimandRuss
Hi Suzy...congratulations on getting your packet sent! Doesn't it feel great?! It's good to have you with us!

Hi again HighwayStar... I do remember you and am so sorry you had to go through that! Did you post your experience in the RFE or any of the other sticky topics? Hmm not sure where you'd put it... It just seems that many people had a different address on their check and it didn't matter but others should know that there is at least one picky adjuticator that will send the package back if they don't match! sad.gif Anyway, you're on your way now! Hope you see a quick approval!

Hi Sal and Jay

Nico.. these people HAVE to know we are dependent on seeing their stamp. I'm with your fiance... not good that you can't read the numbers! We don't need that 'one more thing' to frustrated us! wink.gif

Hi WW (my maiden name was Wallace btw wink.gif ) glad you got ur docs off to the states. I hope you guys can get your package to VT soon so you can join us!

Well, the weather is just beautiful here in Massachusetts. I remember thinking back in September, when Russell was 'booted', that we just needed to get through the rough winter and once the nicer weather was here we'd be well on our way... now that our petition has been sent and the sun is warm, it really feels that much closer! I really do hope they get through these petitions as quickly as they were in January. One month sounds good to me! laughing.gif The NZ consulate is very quick as well so it looks like just about 4-6 weeks from approval to interview date. I'm quite sure my honey will be calling them to expedite too! wink.gif So, here within 2 months sound too unreasonable?? laughing.gif From others timelines we know it's possible... I hope we're all as lucky!

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome.

It feels really great to have sent it... I'm a very busy person and work and go to school almost all day, so fortunately I will not get too crazy with the checking USCIS... haha, at least maybe only once a day and twice on the weekends LOL

I have a question for all of you:

I make more than what is required to bring my fiancé here, but have only done so for the past few months (I got promoted at work). My past 3 yrs tax returns show what I earned previously when I was working part time. Will this be a problem you think? My employer will gladly write me a letter and my paystubs will definetely show my current income.

Just wanted some advice/insight from you guys and wanted to know if any of you were in the same situation as me.

susita, they care about your current income. You will be all set.

Hi Jill! Your journey sounds a lot like ours. My divorce was final last monday (after years of waiting!) and I picked up my decree on Tuesday and sent the package off! What a GREAT feeling that was! I used USPS overnight with confirmed delivery. It cost me about $24 but was worth every penny. I tracked it online... it was there in less than 24 hours and I had a email with a copy of Novak's signature. Now i'm just waiting for them to cash my check. Every little thing is so exciting! Good luck to you!!!

The timelines here (for processing anyway) are so skewed beause of the influx of petitions last year. That slowed things down considerably for a few months.

Historically VSC has always been pretty quick and consistent in the amount of time it takes them and it seems to be that way regardless of the time of year. I'm hoping that they are now back to their 'old self' and that we're in for a speedy ride! wink.gif

What was the fastest this year (not including cuban expedites)? I think it was 17 or 18 days... Maybe you'll beat it KIM, i'd be happiest if you do! kicking.gif

Good luck to all of you who have filed already and those who are still going to file this April. I wish you all an RFE free and really quick approval. And I hope and pray that none of your relationship will suffer because of this roller coaster process, instead may this strengthen the bond that you share with your SO.

I'm holding you all in my thoughts and prayers! rose.gif rose.gif rose.gif

p.s.: I hope someone could also start with "april csc filer's thread" or just "april filers thread". it is really nice to be in touch with people who may have filed in a different center but have filed in the same month. The january vsc filers thread will never be as wonderful as it is if not for the lively contributions of our january csc filer family (their part can never be discounted) and also all our friends who filed on different months who have showered us with support and encouragements. i hope all of you april filers will be able to experience the same bond we share with both the VSC & CSC january filers.

I am so happy for you and your fiance, the processing for January filers seems to be so fast, hope the april filers would be the same too. God may guide us all and bless us all throughout this process. Congrats again! Good luck!
KimandRuss
Thanks... same to you!!!
