ahh its scary Ive got my interview THIS week!! I went into town and found the American Embassy (just to be sure to be there in time for my EIGHT AM interview- its SOO early!!!) Its quite the formidable/intimidating building!
Im gonna fill up on coffee and be a jittery wreck that morning hehe smile.gif Even though our relationship is as real as my heart Ive still been revising my 'facts' lol, like when did we meet, where did he propose etc smile.gif Now Ive got to get my 'evidence' together, I have about one zillion emails, so I guess a screenshot of how MANY emails and a few print outs + photos + plane tickets should do?

Then its the medical on Monday...oh joy...the needles and invasion of privacy...the things we do for love!!!

When you say plane "tickets" Gaura, do you mean the emailed e-tickets? It's just that all they do is prove you purchased a flight, not that you actually took it. What you'll need for proof is the boarding passes and/or luggage tags. Did you keep them?
KimandRuss
Good morning April. I come bearing good news!

Russell called the Embassy yesterday and they told him they couldn't book k1's on the phone. Well, he emailed after he got off the phone and received an email back right away stating that they had received our petition from the NVC late afternoon the day before and had already sent out the appointment package to him and that his appointment was on the 17th...next Wednesday at 10am!!! That's 6pm Tuesday night for us in the U.S. wink.gif What a difference from being in the U.S. ...thank goodness for New Zealand!

NZ usually takes two days to process the visa but that's without any issues...sadly, we almost expect issues. laughing.gif He plans on flying home the following Wednesday...the 24th. Just hours away from the very day he was denied entry in Dublin last year! Ironic, no? wink.gif

So, in just two weeks, we will have everything we have fought so hard for and waited soooo, soooo many years for! We are riding on a cloud! Just thrilled!

Jon, i'd say the Embassy has just not yet processed your petition into their system. I'm sure it wont be much longer for you.

You're going to be just fine Gaura. London will be a breeze..try not to stress yourself out too much! They're probably not even going to ask you for more proof of relationship. wink.gif Keep us posted!

Hi All,

You guys are getting me nervous with your comments about the Affidavit of Support. I plan on having it notarized tomorrow. Quick question - on the affidavit of support, question 11 - do I check intend or do not intend specific contributions to support the person named in item 3?? Or N/A Fiance Visa

Ahh- good point- im taking my boarding passes with me to the interview - i have them cos I squirrel stuff like that away cos Im sentimental lol and always keep movie/theatre ticket stubs that are part of good memories smile.gif

Congrats on the interview Kim!!!!

Graham/Megan- I read your review on the London embassy- what was the mistake in your i-134?? Im a bit worried as my fiance has filled his out correctly on the 'do you intend to make specific contributions' question by writing 'K1 visa 'etc as the answer but my father in law has ticked the 'do not intend' box (he knows I have a lot of my own money so I guess he thought that was the right answer even though we instructed him otherwise) Do you think this may be an issue?? blink.gif

Thank goodness, I saw this today. Man, I could not imagine going to the embassy in Mexico, and seeing my SO coming out with a denied status because of this.

Thanks everybody for posting.

KimandRuss
good afternoon folks...

About the London I134. Graham's experience was the very first I have heard of this in all my time here so my guess is he got the oddball CO that really didn't know what he was talking about .....just like our luck really. tongue.gif Hopefully it wont effect anyone else. Perhaps if you are concerned you can get in touch with the Embassy to confirm.

We are still flying pretty high. Russell booked his flight last night and we got our get-a-way for Boston sorted as well. I will confirm with the JP tonight about officiating at both of our ceremonies. The first scheduled for October 18th. smile.gif I can't believe the time has finally come! Russell is like a little boy on Christmas morning all silly and giddy with excitment...it's adorable really. wub.gif

Entonces mija, nos vamos a ver el 2 de Octubre! jaja, ese dia es nuestra entrevista tambien. debemos planear algo pa salir despues smile.gif

Yes that's right guys, Oct 2 is my interview date. I'm pretty psyched. Going to Peru! Gotta buy some tickets.

Is it normal to be nervous??? lol blink.gif

Krystle + Tiago
Hey April Filers! Congrats to all of you who are moving right along. Just wondering if I could get some advice. We received our NOA1 on June 5, so hoping that the NOA2 arrives soon smile.gif (Trying to be as prepared as possible) I had a question about the I134-Afadavit of Support. I have two jobs, one of them is part time and the other is as needed (but I'm a nurse so I'm always needed...lol) This actually just changed from full-time in August. But I still meet the financial requirments. Just wondering if I should fill out two forms, listing each job on each. Or just fill out one form, and have both employers fill out separate paper work.
Also, for those of you who already have your interviews scheduled just wondering what all is necessary to have in order to get a date. Like is it possible to get a date before the medical exam and vaccinations are complete. I'm guessing the I134 and police records are the most important right?
Okay, sorry to bother...just bored and thought I would get some of these questions out of the way.
INCT
hahahaha.... I hope it is normal to be nervous, because I haven't been anything but nervous since I originally sent in my paperwork.. Good Luck, I'm sure you'll be fine. It sounds like most of us April filers will have our interviews done by the end of October, finally!!
KimandRuss
Suzy, congratulations on your interview! I guess it's normal to be a little nervous... you guys will be great!

Krystle, you fill out 1 I134 and include your total income. Every source of income just gets put on the same form. As far as the interview goes, it has everything to do with the Consulate..each one is very different in how they handle the next steps. So you're going to want to ask specifically to those who have gone or are going through Rio. Normally a package 3 (information packet) is sent out including all the forms you will need... you can find most of them online (normally better quality than you will get from the USEM anyway) and get t hem filled out ahead of time. They normally request that you wait until you have p3 to schedule your medical but all you really need is your A# that will be listed on your NOA2 (I797). Again, check with others who have gone through Rio to find out just how it's all handled there. Be sure when you go to your medical that you get a signed vaccination sheet to use at AOS. It will save you time when you are adjusting status later. wink.gif

Kristen, i'm sure it's going to be just fine. It's sad that we almost expect another bump.

My phone lines at home went completely dead last night which means no phone and, much worse, no internet! ohmy.gif Noooooooooooo! As you know, I do a lot of my work from home not to mention it's basically my only connection to Russell. Just one more thing. Hopefully they will sort it today and i'll be back up and running. I suppose I can wash the rugs and furniture instead of working... I have this nesting instinct going on like an expecting mom just knowing Russell is coming home soon. laughing.gif Still have to figure out how i'm going to fit his things back in our closet.... I just dont know about that! laughing.gif

Since I got no responses to my thread in the Europe forum, I'll try to get one here.... Do you think it's worth sending another email to the US Consulate in Naples, since the two weeks they mentioned in their Autoreply are already up? I have heard they are not always up to the task as far as Packet 3 is concerned, and I'd like not to wait much longer to get it. Unfortunately, there are not many Italians here on VJ, and those who have already been through the interview have stopped visiting. I'd be grateful for some input, even from people from other countries.

I do not see the harm in an email, so fire away. star_smile.gif

However, I would be surprised if you got a response. It just seems like email is the easiest form of communication to ignore. Of course, it is also the easiest to respond to.

I am sure there has to be a phone number posted on VJ, or at least a post about where to get the number. I would also call and make a live person give you a line of BS.

Stay positive,

Brian
HighwayStar
Thanks, Brian! Unfortunately, it seems email is by far the best way to get in touch with the Naples consulate... It is very hard to get them on the phone, and in any case they would need to send me Packet 3 by email. At the end of August I spoke with Giovanni, another Italian guy who has just moved to the US, and he told me to contact them by email. I'll send them another today, and flood them with emails until they send me those papers. It seems they are nice people anyway, except for this slowness, and that the interview is little more than a formality.
INCT
Hi There,

I would definitely E-Mail. It took him over two weeks to get the packet from the Embassy. I Emailed them and they finally Emailed me back and told me he could go and pick up the packet himself from the Embassy (which he did), it wasn't for about another week later that he received the actual packet in the mail (he lives in Santiago so I really don't understand the delay). Keep Emailing them - I am sure they will get back to you!
brian87

I guess our thread might pick up more steam once we start AOS procedures. Of course, I am saying that hoping that Kim goes first and that the procedure is pretty standard from local office to local office. star_smile.gif

It stinks having every national embassy being a little different, including needing different forms. Does anybody have a feeling for how much of a rubber stamp process the AOS will be?

A very quick message to you all. I decided to change my flight and I leave tomorrow at 1150am UK time to be with my future wife and our bump! Sorry I haven't answered questions but everyone has helped out, as you always have. America here we come smile.gif
KimandRuss
Ok, i'm not sure I like the dependency going on here. laughing.gif We plan on having everything ready to roll and send off the Monday after we're married...October 20th. It seems pretty basic actually and shouldn't be a problem...especially for us K1's. Just be careful where you get your information because the process is different depending on how you're adjusting. I'll be happy to share what I learn as I go. Should we stay here or move to the AOS forum?

Raff... email them until they give you an answer...better yet, have your fiance do it too. Afterall, he is the US citizen and it is him they are suppose to be serving.

Brian, I hear your gripe. The process can be so difficult because the Consulates are so different, there is so much misinformation from those who are suppose to know. The system needs a complete overhaul! I'll be scrutinizing immigration policies before this year's election that's for sure. I hope the rest of you (USC anyway) will too! wink.gif

Internets back!

Oooo p.s. Graham!.... have a safe trip buddy!!!

If we stay there will be trouble, if we go it will be double.............

Paraphrasing the Kinks........I think. star_smile.gif

Moving on would probably be best. That way maybe some AOS vets might be lurking. Amazing though how there is still like 20 or so K-1 VJ'ers waiting for NOA2's from April.

And of course, our friend Jerry is still waiting from March. I am starting to feel bad for him. Even glass half empty people deserve a speedy decision.

Raffaella,
you can download packet 3 from the consulate's website and then simply fax it back, since you know they have received your stuff. Here it is:

http://italy.usembassy.gov/visa/immigrant/application.asp

You might wanna ask Marco&Shannon as well (they went through the process not too long ago)
Apparently this has been working well for people.

Then , fax out what they ask you to. In 3 weeks just call the 800 number to fix an appointment.
Apparently they dont really send out packet 3 or it gets lost along the way............
let me know if you'd like me to send you packet 3.

just a quick update for ya'll as to my london embassy visit....

so basically Im approved pending my medical this coming Monday and posting them back the original of one of the affidavits on Tuesday (accidentally brought in the copies instead! blush.gif )(no congrats yet- save em for when I have the visa in hand biggrin.gif!)..
... but I ALSO encountered the SAME problem as Graham, and I had a female case officer who was an ex-attorney- she said that they NA/Fiance Visa thing was wrong - and didnt like that my co-sponsor had ticked the 'do not intend' box on the specific contributions question....(so yeah, I think their internal processing has changed recently or somethigng)...I talked my way out of it ...said it was what we had been told to do, and that my what my co-sponsor meant was that he wouldnt be paying me a monthly salary or providing me a room (thats my fiances job!) but if I fall on hard times is there to support me.....and she said shed let it go through....but my advise is for you to tick 'intend' and just be explicit about what you will provide 'a pony, my credit card and chocolate cake every day' lol wink.gif

Im so glad its over though- I had to get up at 5am to be in line for 7.30am for my 8am interview...which happened at 8 but then I had a long wait until 10 for round two during which everyone else seemd to go first...she actually apologised for the wait which was nice 'I know you were in first but...' she never finished the sentance (we dont really care?) lol.....

Hey Guys, I had a rough day.

Kim - I actually bought my plane tickets and then my boss informed me that even though I have two weeks of vacation that I couldn't take one week the 1st week of October because another supervisor was getting fired today. So anyway, I started crying and lost it and eventually they said it was OK.

I leave Sept 30th at night from JFK and get there at 4:15 in the morning on the 1st. Our interview is the 2nd so it gives us a day. Hopefully we're both leaving together Oct 8th. I bought his ticket but American Airlines told me that I could change it for a fee if I had to. This is just in case.

So anyway guys, I'm freaking out. Yes, I'm cleaning my house like a maniac, moving furniture around etc. I think I'm even going to paint this weekend. Luis says I'm crazy but I just want him to be happy and feel comfortable & at home here.

Luis hasn't gotten his packet yet from the embassy. If it doesn't get delivered to his house by Tuesday, he's going to make the trip to the embassy and pick one up. He wants to get the doctor's appointment done, he's got all of his other stuff done already.

I am waiting on the letter from my employer that has so far taken almost a month. Once I get that I'm going to get the affidavit of support notarized & everything and make copies of everything and then I'll be set.

Most of all, I'm so excited to see him again. I missed him like crazy these past 7 months. It's been really hard.

oh yeah, and me and Verito have the same interview date so I'm going to meet another VJer at last! haha
KimandRuss
Suzy, it's been 7.5 months since I saw Russell too... just 3 weeks in the past year. I'm so glad you got the time off. whew!

I have to go to Ikea this weekend and get another dresser, there's no way all of our stuff is gonna fit in the closet or 1 dresser that I have.

That's not too tragic because I LOVEEEE Ikea.

I have to buy him some stuff too, practical stuff like winter coats and stuff because it's going to be much colder than he's used to, lol.
HighwayStar
Count me in as another IKEA fan biggrin.gif ! Last year, when I was in the US for two months, we went there to look for furniture for the apartment Michael had to rent after his mom kicked him out (long story, and he wasn't at fault). We did get some very nice stuff, and we'll get more once I am there (hopefully soon!). I do love all the stuff they have for organising storage space, which should go perfectly with those wonderful walk-in closets (something I'd kill to have here in Italy!).

No news here yet... I'm still chasing the Naples people, and if I don't get an answer by Monday night, I'll start emailing them every day until they cave in. I hate putting pressure on people, but until proved otherwise it is their duty to send me those papers. I know that in my own office, if someone wants something badly enough, they start calling everyday until we do something about it.
KimandRuss
Congratulations Dale. smile.gif

Oooo I love IKEA for certain things too! I told Russ we'll need one of their portable closets because there is just no room! laughing.gif

Suz, he's going to freeze his butt off! Best get that boy some thermals and a beenie!

Raff, did you see crs's post above about downloading all the P3 forms and faxing them in to the Consulate?

Russ got his letter regarding the interview yesterday...one more thing to check off the list.
HighwayStar
Ohmygosh, I really missed Cristina's post above... My bad! I am way too stressed these days to think straight, and if it weren't for you wonderful VJ'rs, I'd really be up s**t creek without a paddle biggrin.gif ! Thank you so very much for your help! At any rate, I'm still waiting for my birth cert, so no harm done... And I am nowhere near having completed all the things I have to do either!

WELCOME HOME GRAHAM!!! Couldn't be happier for you guys! smile.gif So are you still planning on getting married on Oct. 18th or is it the 4th?

I guess I best get going on the AOS stuff since you all are depending on me, eh? laughing.gif It's really just a matter of more forms, marriage certificate and, of course, $$$ Hopefully you got a vaccination sheet at your medical to send along with the I693??? If not, you will most likely need a letter signed by a civil surgeon here in the US stating you've had them all. Although, some people seem to get through without that. Like every other part of this process... confusing and inconsistent!

10 days - 13 hours!

Hello again! The weather has turned nice and cool, since we've finally had rain... I am not a summer person, and this year, due to the visa-related stress and the lack of a vacation, I suffered even more than usual because of the heat. Well, now it's seems it's over, and I feel much better in every sense now! smile.gif Tomorrow I'm going to fill in my DS-230 pt. 1, and fax it to the Naples consulate. Hopefully it will be a matter of a few weeks before I get that interview! I can't believe it's almost over...

Thinking of you and Russ, Kim, and wishing you the best for your upcoming wedding.... You've been a real friend to me throughout that endless wait, and I will send positive thoughts your way (not a praying person, I'm afraid).
