Tomorrow I'm going to apply for the police certificate (hoping the office is not closed for vacation biggrin.gif), and a few days later I'll go apply for my birth certificate. I've already requested the Finnish police cert, and I hope to get it soon. Michael should get his Affidavit of Support done ASAP, hoping he won't fall back into his procrastinating habit headbonk.gif . As concerns evidence of ongoing relationship, I'll have his passport stamps and boarding passes proving his two visits to Italy this year, plus screen shots of my inbox and of my MSN chat logs. I don't think I'll need to print out any of the messages or conversations... What do you think?

rofl.gif Brian! Congratulations...errrr again! blink.gif You will soon get very used to sharing your bed with your love and probably not be able to remember your life before. smile.gif Having to get used to sleeping alone again was so sad to me... ahhhhh almost back to the way it should be. wink.gif How sweet you find so much joy in your lady's happiness. Very happy for you both.

Raff, I wouldn't think you'd need anymore proof than what you are already planing on sending. I hope you get the rest of what you need quick so you can be done with this part already! Keep us posted.

Still thinking of you Suzy!

My freaking out [which has been award winning this weekend, if I do say so my self] has had more to do with how to compile our proof of ongoing relationship - is it ok to 3 ring punch our phone records? How should I arrange cards/letters - super silly OCD driven crap. Will VFS take this or will he take it in with him...

I don't know what they do in India. I've read Filapinas say they take scrapbooks to the embassy, then it won't fit under the glass for the person to look at. I personally stuck a couple of things on computer paper...boarding passes for 2 trips since initial petition, some ticket stubs from Les Mis in London and two photos of us together, and maybe the train tickets to London, and another letter of intent to marry. Then I put those papers in one of those flexible clear report covers with the clippy edge to "bind" it. It wasn't much stuff, but just something. I was in England when he was getting his embassy stuff together, so I just dug through my purse and pulled out junk from that trip. It didn't take 10 minutes. Of course, London didn't ask to see that. I would suggest you read all the reviews from New Dehli and see what people say they took and if it was looked at so you know the general practice at that Embassy. You get good info from doing that. If you find things like, "they told me we didn't show enough evidence." That tells you to load up. But they might say, "I took 3 scrapbooks and they didn't look at them." You might consider the flexible binder if they have a small slot put the docs through.

Ok, it's so funny you say that because just yesterday I was looking at my first 'letter of intent' that I sent with the petition.....

..I, (applicant’s or beneficiary’s name) , do hereby state that I am legally able and willing to marry (petitioner’s or beneficiary’s name), and intend to do so within 90 days of my arrival into the US using the K-1 visa.

DOH!!!

I didn't get any touches today, I checked like a lunatic today for an approval, but nada...

Oh well, hoping to hear something soon. Luis is trying to get his birth certificate fixed in the meantime blink.gif , so I mean, no rush... LOL Everything is so backwards over there when it comes to stuff like that. I feel bad for him, he was running around in Lima all day, missed a whole day of work to file a couple of forms. Poor baby.

I hope for better luck tomorrow. Then I'll just start freaking out after my approval about my interview. LOL

Yes a lot of freaking has been done on my part. I'm pretty good now though. But I keep asking Gareth things, like did it come yet...you have this and that...you're sister has a scanner you can use. Blah blah...he goes...you're really worried about this aren't you? LoL...yuhh I just want my baby back! He's so calm about it and he's the one having to do all the stuff. I guess it's just cause I'm not there and can't be there hands on. It all works out in the end though! Hope you're approved soon Suzy! And anyone else who hasn't been approved!!

I am good. Never felt better, thanks for asking. star_smile.gif

I received my second approval last week. Not as exciting the second time around. unsure.gif

My SO bought a wedding dress last week. I guess that makes the whole thing really offical. star_smile.gif
She was so excited to tell me about the dress and the party that her family is planning. I really enjoy seeing her happy. Her enthusiaism really lifts my spirits, which helps me maintian my GHF status in life.

I have never had a 24/7 live in girlfriend in the past. The thing I find most weird is that I will no longer have my bed to myself. Of course, I realize there are benefits to that. blush.gif

But, it just seems funny to know that for the rest of my life, I need to be careful whenever I rollover. star_smile.gif

Really keeping fingers Xed for you, Suzy, my fellow linguist happy.gif... I hope to be able to celebrate with you soon!

This morning I applied for my Italian police certificate, which will be ready on Friday. Tomorrow I'll go apply for the 'long' birth certificate, and hope to get my Finnish police cert soon. Michael hasn't called NVC yet for our case number, but I hope he'll do so soon. September will be a very hectic month indeed, but this time it's all for a good cause! biggrin.gif

Kim, So obviously you didn't send in a copy/original of your NOA2 to Russ? I was debating sending both the NOA1 and NOA2 over - I thought they were needed.

Of course I'm having a police certificate crisis with the SO. I knew this would be the rough part of this. His legal permanent address forever has been his home address - but he did live elsewhere for school and work over the last five years [some for as little as 7 months or up to 2 years for school]. The fun comes with how the police certificate is going to be handled - This is what the packet 4 instructions say [from the embassy's website]:

(A) Indian citizens residing in India for six months or more since turning 16 years of age must present Indian police clearance certificates from both their district police station and the local area passport office. Applicants whose passports were issued within six months of the visa interview may present just the passport office certificate. These certificates are valid for one year from the date of issuance.

Taking it at face value that would mean only the current residence. But, it seems to me that a lot of what I've been reading here and elsewhere says police certificates from anywhere you've resided for more than 6 months in the last 7 years [sometimes I've found school time doesn't count, for whatever reason]. Our game plan right now is to just go forward with only the police cert from his home area and worst case [hopefully] would be getting a request for the others. Does this sound reasonable?

Suzy, I'm thinking about you too! I'm sure you're approval is right around the corner.
KimandRuss
No Lauren, I didn't send the originals and don't you either! You will need the NOA2 for Adjustment. I'd hate for anything to happen to it!

I did scan and send it over to him today tho. A copy is asked for at interview. wink.gif

I think your best bet in regards to the Embassy is to either email or call them, explain your/his situation and ask what exactly they'll need. wink.gif

Got a nasty surprise this morning when I went to my local public registry in order to request my 'long' birth certificate.... After I gave the woman there the filled-in form, she told me that the certificate would be ready in 60 DAYS!!!!! This is utterly preposterous... I'll have to go to their PR office to enquire as to the reason for this incredibly long wait (which wasn't advertised anywhere btw), and possibly tell them that I NEED to have that cert much sooner than that. Well, I have to say this will be one more reason for me NOT to miss Italy or regret my move. I didn't request it earlier because I knew it was only valid for 6 months, and for what I knew we could've waited much longer for that approval. Hopefully they'll be able to do something, or I'll be forced to take action in some way.

Hi all!

After being held for a few (depressing) weeks at the NVC, I called and found out that our case had finally been sent to Morocco and according to DHL, it made it on Monday! We are so excited.

So, now we are working on getting everything ready for the interview, and I just read above that I was not supposed to have sent the original NOA2 to Simo (I thought he had to have the original hard copy) so I had it sent by registered mail to Morocco, but it hasn't arrived yet (it's been 3 weeks) -- he is going to check on it now, but I know this is a problem. I am wondering if I can contact the USCIS and ask for a second version of the hard copy. Luckily, we had it scanned in before we sent it, so that Simo can just print it out and have it at the interview....

Do you think that would be possible to get a second copy sent to us? Also, Kim I read that you are doing something to expedite the process at the embassy in NZ, what are you doing and how do you do that? I don't think we will need to do that, since Simo can't come until Ramadan ends anyways, but I would like to know what the options are.

Thanks for any help on these questions! And good luck for all of you waiting out there!

Hi Milo,
After reading your comment I think I will have to get a Police clearance certificate too. As I am staying in Mumbai it would be from the Local Police office…. That means I will have to shell out extra money to give it to them so they could expedite the process LOL!!!!! That’s how it works here. The cops are way to corrupt…. My Packet left NVC on the 18th Aug & hopefully it should reach Mumbai Embassy in 2-3 days. Would they( Mumbai Embassy) be sending ME any letter or would they be calling me to say that my packet has arrived & these are the things I need to collect before my medicals or interview? I have no idea on this. Plzzzz help! Is there anything else that I will have to be ready with for the Medicals & Interview…

Hi Amrit,

Well I'm sure you will need the certificate from at least the police station. If you've had your passport renewed in the last 6 months you do not need the certificate from the passport office too. If your passport is older than 6 months, then you definately need the passport office clearance too.

I know that the police situation in India is, to put it delicately, different. We're hoping my SO can get his certificate in under 6 months. Yeah - seriously - 6 months. But he's from J&K and they have their own rules and issues.

Your packet should be there super quick. Ours shipped on 8-15 and was delivered 8-18. Plus the nice operator at NVC confirmed it was also sent electronically.

My understanding is that you will receive packet 3 which will have a checklist and a couple of forms to return to VFS. Once they get the packet 3 info, they'll turn around and send you packet 4 with more paperwork, your appointment letter, info about the medical exam, etc. So, I'd keep an eye out for packet 3!

Worse case have Rob start to bug the embassy about the specifics. I've been trying on my end with the New Delhi embassy and so far I've gotten a ton of auto-response emails and busy signals on the phone - but I'm going to keep on trying!!!

Suz... i'm so darn happy for you guys!!! hahaha I wanna come to your party!!! I'm already doing the Mojito dance for you.... woohooo What a great feeling, eh???? It doesn't go away either!!!!

Raff... your certified birth certificate is only valid 6 months??? I know police certs can have limits but I've never heard of that! I hope you get it sooner than they say. Do you already know when your interview will be?

Lizzie, i'm glad your case finally made it to Morocco! I'm not sure about the additional copy of the NOA2 (I-797).. I want to say I read somewhere you had to pay for it. I hope your original makes it to Morocco!

As far as the interview... The New Zealand Cosulate is just very accomodating and friendly...as are most NZ'ers i've met. wink.gif We knew this ages ago and knew of other couples who had expedited their interview so we're attempting the same. All he did was email them and ask. Russell received an email back from them yesterday saying they would send him P3 today (before they even have the approved petition) so it looks like we're on our way. smile.gif Good luck to you.

Abe-n-Verito... now it's your turn!!! wink.gif

As mentioned above, how different the process is when you're checking new things off every day. smile.gif Our package still has not left NVC (as of last night anyway) but Russell should still have his packet 3, medical results and all he needs from me by the beginning of the new week which means an interview any time after that. It's geting so close I can taste it!!!

hope the rest of you are doing well smile.gif

So we have and I-134 prepared and notarised for both Megan and her Step-Father. Last 3 years tax transcripts for both. I wish I had an easy answer. All I can tell you is that i'm my mother's daughter wink.gif ...and much like Brian, I tend to keep my glass half full as much as I can. Almost annoyingly so sometimes i'm told. laughing.gif

I know it's been a lot longer for us than most and with the lack of visits after all the time we actually lived together, I could easily have lost my mind. But life lessons have taught me an awful lot about where to focus my energy. It's just too short to waste even a day. I knew what was coming and, like I've mentioned here before, the thought of picking Russell up at the airport lifted me out of that depression haze on more than one occassion. Eyes on the prize!!! wink.gif

I know this has been said time and time again but goodness - people aren't kidding when they say after getting the NOA2 things start to roll super fast. You'll almost be wishing you had more time. Ok, not really - but holy crow does stuff move once that approval is in....

Congratulations to all the new approvals !

I received the NOA2 a month ago and that's it sad.gif ... Nico got the instructions to get his medical and in Uruguay there is a strike and havent been able to get that done. I havent sent him the package with all the forms fill out due that my lawyer's assistant was on vacation last week and this week , she still havent contacted me.
I had a deadline on mind when I apply for the K1 visa , that he will be here by August 31 and I know now that it would not be the case.

I'm down and upset!

How long you guys think it will usualy take to get your interview date once they received packet 3?

Thank you All!

laughing.gif Lauren, you're not complaining are you???? I still want it faster!!!

Sandra, how long it depends varies on Consulate. Check the Embassy reviews for Uruguay and they will tell you. You don't really need your lawyer to send what your fiance needs...especially if all they're doing is holding you up... but I understand if you want to wait.

Affidavit of support (example forms here)... tax transcripts of copies of returns (usually just one year), letter from employer (example here) and copies of paystubs... new letter of intent with original sig (also example form here).. copy of NoA2(I-797)...and anything more you have to add regarding ongoing relationship. That's about it. wink.gif

My man is off to his medical in just a couple of hours (it's Friday in NZ) ..he got his p3 from the NZ EM yesterday! Exactly one week after our approval...they even overnighted it to him. Our approved petition still hasn't left NVC. laughing.gif

Kim,

I did the whole process with the lawyer. I thought it will expedite things. I dont know what else to do? i wrote her an e-mail and all that and she wrote back saying as soon as she has all the paper work ready she will let me know. I feel like screaming and crying .
On the other hand, my fiance because he had some drinks with his best friend that came from another city to visit him on sunday. He didnt get his medical on monday and then on tuesday they are on a stike.
It just sucks! I 'm upset and not feeling very well.

Thanks for your support and understanding.
