Thanks A & V smile.gif

Suzy... touches are gooooooood!!! I wish I knew what to tell you. I can tell you that i've seen others come through with mis-spelled documents and they just had it taken care of at interview stage. Is his passport right??? I know I was worrying about every little thing in the final days... we kinda still are (sorry Brian) ...so I can't just tell you not to...wink.gif but oooooo I hope this is good news for you today!!! I think it will be! Peru is nice and quick for interviews too! I'm keeping everything crossed for you!

Well up late again...those darn olympics laughing.gif ... we're still riding so high!

Brian, anything??

Yeah, all of his other documents are correct. He spoke to a lawyer who said it could take another 1-2 months. He was recommended to this lawyer and seems like a really nice guy. I hope this works out in our favor. I really am quite disgusted with the way they handle things as simple as this in Lima. I thought our DMV was bad, but gee whiz.... LOL

Thank god Luis never was married, could you imagine how long it would take him to get a divorce? He said it could take up to 8 years.

Holy Cow blink.gif
KimandRuss
Oh my! I'm so glad I don't live in Peru... I thought 120 days was bad!... well added to the 2+ years I had to wait! sad.gif

My guess is that things like this happen more often in other Countries and that our Embassy's would be used to it but that's just an assumption. I'll see if I can't find some old posts that I remember this being discussed.

Yeah it took my bank about a week to get the letter for me. It was dated the 8th and I didn't get it in the mail until the 12th! I wanted to go a head and have EVERYTHING for Gareth before he left. That was the only thing I had to mail though. He should be getting packet three sometime next week.

Hope you get approved soon Suzy!!

Oh and I was wondering is there PDFs of the paperwork that comes in Packet three here by any chance? I wanna have what he has in front of me so we can "fill them out together" ya know? And so we can make sure he doesn't miss anything. Thanks!!

Do they require bank statements in London and Kiev even if you meet the 125% ?

Stephanie--I have the whole London Packet 3 scanned and it's the April 08 version. It includes medical info and form too. I have to "share" it with you using an email address...preferable a hotmail, msn or windows live mail account. Otherwise they may make you sign up or something. It's on MSN Sky drive. If you want it, PM me with an email. The 4 forms he will fill out are online.

London was not interested in my bank statements. The 2007 tax return and letter from employer was all they wanted from me.

Thanks for this info! I messaged you. I'm glad to see that's all they wanted because my mom is the co-sponser and she sent those two things and a copy of her property taxes. I hope that will be plenty. Mom is way over the 125% level...and I'm glad for that. Being a student...I'd never be able to get him over here!

Congrats Kim!

I'm currently waiting on NOA2 still, I had another touch yesterday but so far no approval. It may be a good thing, because of the birth certificate situation. Luis got a lawyer and everything should be done in 1 month. I think we'll be OK (fingers crossed).

I also start the new semester the first week of September. I'm kinda upset b/c I was hoping to have an interview in August (when I started the process, it was going much faster for other people). I may have to miss some classes (ugh), and that's not my style if you know what I mean. I am definetely going to the interview, many people in Peru have recommended it and plus I miss Luis & his family and I would like to be there with him for the interview & the flight HOME! to NYC hahaha. I wonder how he's going to react to NY

So here's a question to all of you guys (and gals, it's a NY thing to call everybody guys)

If your fiancee has never been to the states, how do you think they are going to like it here? I'm a lil nervous because I don't think he's going to like the lifestyle, it's much more relaxed in Peru than it is here. I mean, he deals with me so that's a plus (hahaha I'm not exactly the most CALM person).

No, but seriously, I'd like to hear your opinions on this and concerns. And to everybody whose fiancee HAS been here, how did they like it???

Let's talk people, to get my mind of of this waiting!!!!
KimandRuss
laughing.gif Mama Nich! I honestly didn't expect it to get there in less than two days!!! Only called because my honey is not quite as patient as I. wink.gif I could tell that the woman who answered the phone at the NVC was genuinely happy for us... so excited "we just got your number today!"... "good luck to you guys"... very sweet. smile.gif And what a difference from USCIS!!! Everything just feels so good now... a extra bounce in my step and a stupid grin on my face! laughing.gif I can't wait for the rest of you good people to join us at this level!!!!

Suzy, (we say 'guys' too laughing.gif )...n how you doin?? laughing.gif I think Luis is going to love it here... simply because you're here! It's a lot like that in NZ too.... just laid back and surrounded with lush tropical beauty. *sigh* I used to think 'wow..he's leaving all of this for me'...still do sometimes. But, because he was here for over a year I already know that he loves it here too... its much different but still lovely in other ways. I think it really has a lot to do with the people that I am surrounded by ..family and friends. smile.gif Our plans are to be in NZ as much as we can and perhaps some day even have a home there as well. No matter where you are, somehow, when you are in the arms of your true love... you are home. smile.gif It will be glorious for you both, i'm sure. smile.gif

I thought those touches were going to mean something yesterday! I'm sure you did too. It's got to be right there.... grrrrrrrrrrrr keeping everything crossed for you! Great news about Luis's bc. What drama!

Nich-Nick
Well Nick loves it here and says it's more laid back, friendly, and easy going than where he is in the UK. I guess you Yankees in Boston and NY are a different lifestyle. You know, we're all country bumpkins here in Texas. rofl.gif We talk slower too, often making a one syllable word into two syllables. hahaha. Example: Kim would be Kee-um. Ok, I exaggerate, that would be in Georgia and Mississippi--the Deep South.

Luis will catch up to speed. What a change....NY, Suzy, twins!!!! Hang on to your hat Luis. You are in for one wild ride.

We do the two syllable words here in Alabama too. smile.gif Gareth calls me his little Redneck! LoL! As for Alabama, he LOVES it here! He had to get used to our summer heat, but once he did he was fine. He was in the pool 99% of his time here. Of course the day he leaves it hasn't been above 90 since. Like I said though he loves it here. Things are kind of tough in England so he says that he can have a better life here and he'll be with me. smile.gif So he's excited!

Hello all! Sorry not to have been around, but unfortunately my aunt passed away on Thursday night (peacefully, in her sleep), and yesterday - the peak day of the vacation season - I had to travel down to Southern Italy for her funeral service. I came back some three hours ago, after a five-and-a-half-hour train journey... I was lucky to find a seat for most of it, since I had lost my reservation, and trains were PACKED to the gills. Suffice it to say that my aunt lived in a renowned seaside resort... To make matters worse, yesterday was one of the hottest days of the summer, with high humidity and temps well into the 100's.

Michael hasn't yet got in touch with NVC, though I suppose our file may already be in Naples (through which I passed yesterday and today). In any case, odd at it may seem, I am not in a hurry, because I need to have those certificates done, and he's not done his Affidavit of Support yet. I'd be happy to have the interview by early October, though, because I would love for us to be married on Oct 20, our second anniversary. We'll see!
smchadwick
Ok I've been looking over documents and I'm sorta freaking out.

It says he needs to have evidence of support for the interview AND he has to send in evidence of support as well...with the four forms he has to fill out. I only sent with him one copy of the evidence. I didn't know this until now. Will copies be ok to send in with the forms or should I send him another original? Thanks!!

And also the forms require evidence of engagement. Is that just the evidence of our ongoing relationship...or does he need like a receipt for a ring or something...cause we don't have that! My mom gave him her diamond reset in white gold to give to me (which I thought was soo sweet and a total surprise to me!) Thanks for your help guys! I just wanna do it all right the first time.

Stephanie, it depends what originals you're talking about. You need to send him the I-134 notorized so yes, that needs to be an original. NZ asked that Russell supply them with his CV/Resume and that was the first i've heard of that being requested. Not sure what other kinds of 'support' they would want to see from him except maybe bank account balances? It's not like he's keeping a job! Best to check with others who have dealt with that Consulate. wink.gif

I'm pretty sure the evidence of engagmement is your ongoing relationship proof. Not everyone wears an engagement ring.
HighwayStar
Oh Kim, thanks so much! wub.gif How did you do that? You really have some superpowers we don't know about biggrin.gif ! It means our file has been there for three days... Probably they were closed yesterday because it was a public holiday here, but I will be able to contact them next week to ask about Packet 3. I hope I'll manage to get all those certs done ASAP! Anyway, I think we need a new case number.... Are the NVC people going to give it to us?
KimandRuss
You're welcome. smile.gif

You can call DOS to get your new case number and they can even tell you if/when packet 3 was sent. (202) 663-1225 Press 1, then Press 0.

Stephanie--- Recent successful experience with London speaking here--->Mama Nich. No stressing needed. London is easy.

He DOES NOT have to provide any of his financial evidence if you are providing I-134 alone or with a co-sponsor. NO, NO, NO. Page nine list four types of evidence of your income and says pick two or any others that will prove your point.

NO proof of engagement to London. We have no ring or plans to ever get one. We passed. It's not in London's P3.

NO proof of an ongoing relationship is asked for at the interview.

You don't have to send more copies of your support evidence. It's a COPY. Can't he find a Xerox machine in the UK like at work, school, the library, Staples? He just makes a copy of what you sent. It's not two originals.

Mail in to Embassy:
  • The four DS forms as outlined on the first page of P3. Pay attention to what is says to send two of and what it says to not sign. It's on the page.
  • The IV15 checklist (it's four pages) if you have everything on it. The checklist is his way of saying, "I've got all this stuff and I'm ready to interview."
Mail the four DS forms immediately. You can mail the checklist later, but sending everything together is most efficient. Include a cover letter. I can send you mine to modify if you have Word. Change the names and good to go.

Take in hand to interview:
  • The appointment letter they mail him. It's the ticket in the door.
  • His passport
  • His original birth certificate. Must show parent's names. (and a copy so they can keep the copy and give his original back)
  • Originals of any divorce decree if he is divorced (and a copy so they can give original back)
  • ACPO police certificate (and a copy)
  • Court or military records if he has any (and a copy)
  • I-134 from you which is notarized plus at least two forms of evidence of your income. (and a copy) We provided 2007 tax return and letter of employment.
  • 2 US sized passport photos. The third they mention is really for the medical. Only two for the embassy appointment.
Click my timeline over on the left and way at the bottom if you want to read our interview experience play by play. Very detailed and probably too long. Don't stress. It's not as hard as it seems.

quick question, do we have to call NVC for the case #.
and i got the noa 2 last monday,is it possible it is at the embassy in bangkok now?
i got the hard copy also,
my SO is getting me confused, she says they will send me a packet.
i know i have to do the I 134. help, lol

Great to see a few more approvals!

I'm so confused by the next steps - I'd gotten used to just waiting and not being on top of things!

I call NVC and got our case number...other than getting the support paperwork and proof of ongoing relationship stuff together is there anything I should be doing?

How would I know if my case has been sent to the embassy? I know they don't hang out long at NVC but is there a way to find out it's on its way?

I feel as ignorant as I did at the beginning of this whole process!!!
milo75
Jer08 - We are on the same page it seems!!! I did call NVC for the case number. Just call the main number then 1, 5 and speak with an operator. And, yeah, we need to get the paperwork together. Plus, the beneficary at some point gets packet 3. But the ins and outs??? No idea.

That's a form that's for every country in the world. Each Embassy sorta has their own way of organizing things. London gives their instructions in P3, which you have, and it tells what to mail and what to bring to the interview. You just go down the checklist and check it off. We also marked N/A and crossed out things we didn't need, like military service, court records on that checklist just to let them know we read it and it didn't apply. Some countries have you bring all the DS forms to the interview. They all vary a little. So you have to zero in on your country when you get to this point. But dont forget the appointment letter.

Oh, I'm so glad you're not freaking out anymore. It's going to be so anti-climatic that you're going to come back and post after the interview, "Is that all there is?" Cover letter sent to hotmail.

Milo and Jer. Did you look up above in the blue menu bar under the people pictures? It says Embassy Info. Find your country's Embassy and read the info. Most countries have a good write up about the particulars of their requirements.

For Thailand there is an active group posting in a thread SAWASDEE 2, The New VJ Thailand K-1 Thread in the K-1Fiance Visa Process & Procedures General Discussion. (The parent thread of this one). You might could get some good tips there. There is also a lovely lady posting under 'Thai Family' who could answer questions too. She's a mom, who took on the job of helping her son and Thai daughter-in-law sort through the requirments because her son was busy enrolled in school or overseas maybe. She's kind of a Mama Nich for Thailand and has learned alot about the Thai process. Find her posts or PM her.

Now everybody get their homework done, so you can graduate with honors. good.gif

Highway Star--So sorry to hear about your aunt and the difficult travel you just went through. It's another good-bye to the past, isn't it? But you can look forward to a new beginning very soon. Hope you have a lovely week coming up.

Good morning folks!

Jer.. your case number is not what they use to track your dhl. wink.gif You were approved on 8/11... it's hard to know exactly when your package left NVC without calling but there is a package with 1 piece that left DHL on 8/14 and arrived in Bankok this morning (tracking number 9423683555). Judging by others times I would say that is most likely your package. There is another that left 8/13 and arrived in Bankok yesterday (tracking number 9438604910).

milo, approved 8/13... there's a package that left Friday night (tracking #9438607640) that is on it's way to New Dehli. It was in NY ready to go as of last night. This may or may not be yours. We were approved the same day and ours is not yet sent from NVC. Judging by others timelines, ours will be sent out on Monday and arrive in New Zealand on Thursday. wink.gif Of course, yours was approved earlier in the day so it's likely it was sent out Friday afternoon.

You will both need to call DOS. They can give your new case number, tell you if and when it left NVC and arrived at the Embassy. If you get that date then you can truly track it. wink.gif ..they can also tell you if a package 3 was sent out and even if there's an interview scheduled. (202) 663-1225 Press 1, then Press 0.

For those of you curious go to http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRef Select 'track by reference' and enter EXP 12 AUG 2008A (or a day or two after you were approved) then underneath put the date range for either the day you know it left NVC or a couple days on either side. You will then see a list come up listing all packages that left NVC. Look for your Country and click on the reference number to get details.

jer and milo, you can also track by the numbers I gave you above. wink.gif

As far as what's needed from here! Bad boys and girl! You need to do your homework! laughing.gif I personally contacted the Auckland Embassy ages ago to find out just what would be required of me mostly because I am self-employed, own rental property...etc. The forms are pretty basic for most Embassy's and you can find those examples in the links above but, as mama Nick suggested, each Consulate is also very different so you really do need to do your own research to find out what will be required of you. For instance, some Consualtes still want 3 years tax returns from the petitioner, some only want one. At some Consulates they do not allow co-sponsors and others they do...etc. At some of the higher fraud posts you're going to want to send as much on-going/proof of bona fide as you can. Thai Mom and the folks that post in the Thailand thread will be able to lead you to your answers, Jer. I'm not sure of anyone in particular to help you Milo but i'm sure if you visit your portals link and read the Embassy reviews you'll find some answers. wink.gif

Russell will be calling to schedule his medical when he wakes up today about 5pm est (9am Nz time) and then he's going to call the Consulate to see if he can send in p3 before they receive the hardcopy of the approved petition (they get an electronic version as well). laughing.gif I think he's in a rush!
HighwayStar
It seems we're all in the same boat with not doing our homework biggrin.gif ! Well, to be perfectly honest, I did do some, though not as accurately as for the first stage of the petition. At any rate, Michael is going to do his part this week, and I'm going to get those certs done ASAP. I wouldn't be able to leave too soon anyway, because I have things to take care of (though they won't take long). As for the medical, in Italy you have to have it the day before the interview, so I won't need to worry about scheduling it myself. Hope to manage to get that titer test in early September, when everyone comes back from their vacation.

The funny thing is that I have been hounding people using the same consulate and have the guidelines just about memorized - I just feel like I'm missing something. Sort of like when I sent in the I129 to begin with....

I have all the paperwork in motion for the afivdativ of support, I have pieced together a lot of the proof of relationship, I have lists like alligators have teeth. I'm just so scared I'm missing something....

Actually, I'll be emailing the embassy today to see if they can give me a run down of packet 3 via email because my SO is going to be temporarily relocating to Delhi for a couple of months to wait this out. He lives in an area that is currently under a lot of weirdness - protests, curfews, strikes, etc. Even if they were to mail the packet 3 thru the regular mail, there is an awfully good chance he would not receive it or receive it promptly...

HighwayStar - to add - please accept my condolences, losing famly is always difficult.
KimandRuss
milo, I think that to feel you are missing something is normal human response! Most of the work is now up to your fiance...he can use the example forms to help him fill out the docs. They may even be available for download on the New Dehli Embassy site. As long as you send the copy of the initial packet (if you have it), all originals, affidavit and supporting evidence for that and proof of on-going relationship I think you're covered. I don't know, ask me tomorrow when I send mine out! laughing.gif
HighwayStar
I just wanted to thank all of you for your kind words about my aunt's passing. As Nich said, it is another piece of my old life disappearing... The good thing is that this sad event helped me and my brother patch up things. My aunt lived alone, as I do, and I think he realised that a person who lives on her own can be very vulnerable - even if I am still relatively young and in very good health (touching wood!). So, all is well again in my own little world, even if I know I'll miss my aunt... She often called me on Sunday evenings like this, and I told her all about my everyday life. She was so happy about my upcoming marriage... I hope she can see me from somewhere.

Do they require bank statements in London and Kiev even if you meet the 125% ?

Hi Kim

London dont ask for anything like that or didnt from us, just the advidavit and my docs didnt even want to see his w2s. All I would suggest though is to take copies of your documents they will then keep those and give you the originals back.

Sometimes I give my patients who experience a loss this poem by Pablo Neruda. I hope you like it.

If I die, survive me with such sheer force
that you waken the furies of the pallid and the cold,
from south to south lift your indelible eyes,
from sun to sun dream through your singing mouth.
I don't want your laughter or your steps to waver,
I don't want my heritage of joy to die.
Don't call up my person. I am absent.
Live in my absence as if in a house.
Absence is a house so vast
that inside you will pass through its walls
and hang pictures on the air
Absence is a house so transparent
that I, lifeless, will see you, living,
and if you suffer, my love, I will die again.

Thanks Sal, thats what I thought. NZ doesn't require it either. Just making sure my April friends weren't caused more stress and worry than they need to. wink.gif

Great advice regarding the orginal documents. wink.gif

Joe, that was just beautiful, it's a bit like what I said at my father's service. He died very suddenly at 51. I like to think I live quite fiercly much in part to his memory. Thank you for sharing it.
HighwayStar
Very beautiful indeed, Joe... You are a very sensitive, caring person, and your fiancée is a very lucky woman to have found you! smile.gif I do love Neruda's poetry, and I think I may have read this particular poem in the past, possibly in the Spanish original.

Howdy April,

I did some quick homework for Milo. This should have some helpful information..it's straight from the New Delhi Embassy website.
http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/ivdocforms.html

It has links to police certificate, medical, the forms, and what they call k1 Packet 4 which has instructions. Something different I noticed for New Delhi (from the Packet 4 instruction page) is that 10-15 days prior to the interview, the forms should be submitted to the nearest VFS office and the courier fee paid. Then it lists all the documents and the order they should be organized. I don't know what a VFS office is, but I assume somebody living in India will understand that. There is a link to VFS offices, but that link takes you to lots of information of how to pay the fees and make appointments. Mumbai rules seem to be slightly different and are noted. From there you can find the link to the actual VFS office locations.

Good luck. It's a big homework assignment.

Hey!!!

What a weekend. We had our interview appointement on August the 26th. BUT all of a sudden Ricky wanna move back to Germany ( we already used to live together in Germany for 4 years). So i couldnt say no i mean i dont care where we are as long as we together and to be honest everything is kinda better in Germany from my ponínt of view. Yes i would love to stay in the US for a while far as language experience but he is so unhappy over there that i just couldnt say no. Last time he been here he already brought all his best clothes and was looking át me all sad and ask can i stay with you in Germany? But i had to send him i never saw him crying so many tears. So now instead of me going to the US on Novemeber 1st he will come on November 15nd. I will fly on Novemebr 1st and pick him up. kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif
KimandRuss
Oh my goodness! So ummm no more K1 for you then? How very interesting. What matters in the end is that you are both happy and, as you said, together. smile.gif Please do keep us posted.

Well this morning I am off early to send my package to Russell. That should be a pretty penny to get to him quick! He got his medical scheduled for Friday (our Thursday) so we're pretty excited about that. The Embassy didn't want him to schedule it until after he had his packet 3 but he's such an impatient boy. laughing.gif Good thing he's so darn cute! wink.gif He's also already contacted the Embassy and asked about an expedited interview...something tells me they might be happy enough to push him through quickly! whistling.gif Will let you know how we make out with that.

I do hope this Monday brings with it great news for our friends Suzy and Brian and all others waiting!

Have a great day!

Nich!

Thanks so much - actually that's one of the lists I've been working on. Needless to say, yes we do have our work cut out for us. My biggest concern has been the darn police certificate.

VFS is an outsourced agency that handles the paperwork side of things for the US Consulates. We've dealt with them before so we aren't too worried. They are sticklers to the 10-15 day rule from what I've heard.

My freaking out [which has been award winning this weekend, if I do say so my self] has had more to do with how to compile our proof of ongoing relationship - is it ok to 3 ring punch our phone records? How should I arrange cards/letters - super silly OCD driven crap. Will VFS take this or will he take it in with him...

Plus, on top of all that, he's in the part of the country that's had riots/killings/etc over the past month or so. I just really really really want to get him out of there. I think that stress is helping with my moderate meltdown.

Brian, how you doing??? Any news?

I am good. Never felt better, thanks for asking. star_smile.gif

I received my second approval last week. Not as exciting the second time around. unsure.gif

My SO bought a wedding dress last week. I guess that makes the whole thing really offical. star_smile.gif
She was so excited to tell me about the dress and the party that her family is planning. I really enjoy seeing her happy. Her enthusiaism really lifts my spirits, which helps me maintian my GHF status in life.

I have never had a 24/7 live in girlfriend in the past. The thing I find most weird is that I will no longer have my bed to myself. Of course, I realize there are benefits to that. blush.gif

But, it just seems funny to know that for the rest of my life, I need to be careful whenever I rollover. star_smile.gif

Brian
KimandRuss
Lauren, you can put your proof together any way you like. I think we had plenty of proof with the initial petition so I only sent screen shots of my inbox and a couple receipts along with the affidavit. I sent one folder with a copy of the initial petition and a folder full of the affidavit and all supporting evidence all indexed accordingly and well organized and highlighted so there is no fuss about finding what they need. I realize India is a whole different 'ballgame' so i'd say just send it as thoroughly and orderly as you can. smile.gif Perhaps you can include a letter requisting an expedite for the interview based on his circumstances. wink.gif You will need to 'prove' he is directly in harms way and effected by what's going on.

I can't believe my part in all of this is finally finished with for now! Boy that feels good... now I just hope I didn't mess anything up! blink.gif

Still waiting to hear from the rest of you!
