Quick question - I just spoke to NVC and they said they sent my petition to Chile on August 1st, I am trying to track it via DHL - EXP 1 AUG 2008A as a reference but nothing is coming up, I changed the dates but still nothing is coming up. "No shipments found. Please revise criteria and resubmit"

I'm sure that there were other shipments and I am probably just doing something wrong. ??

I had a look and there is one to Santiago (do Track by number to look at it-- 9423680884) You can call the Dept of State and they can tell you if yours is at the Embassy.
This one I tracked by EXP 30 JUL 2008A and used the shipment pickup dates Jul 31 to July 31. You have to back it up a day from when they tell you. Normally for an Aug 1 departure, I would track EXP 31 JUL 2008A (always the day before) and I would do shipment pickup dates of Aug1 to Aug1, but since that didn't come up with Chile, I backed it up one more day. I bet that's yours and it's already in Chile.

Well at least you have a date, even though it's probably a disappointment to have to wait another 7 weeks. Wait, wait, wait!!!! We do a lot of that. I'm waiting on the SMS courier who was supposed to come yesterday with the passport and visa. Then they promised between 1:00 and 3:00 today. Then at 3:05 they called the driver and he said within the hour. I am so close to seeing my fiance's visa, yet so far. [sigh] I think SMS stands for Slow Mail Services or Secure Mail Sucks!

My journey has taken a small detour. As most of you know, I received my approval on July 3rd. Well, on July 22, I received another email saying that my file was under further review.

I simply thought this was like a review at the NVC before the file was sent to the embassy. Then on July 26th, I get a NOA that my approval was reversed and I received a RFE. Apparently, I did not check yes or no to question 2 in Section C. My bad. But in fairness, the Section leads of with answer the following if you were in the military. Still, I blew it and accept full responsibility.

So I check off the answer NO on the RFE form and FedEx'd it back. And of course, the RFE states that a determination will be made by August 26th.

Great. so I go from an initial approval on July 3rd, to getting an approval a week before September 3rd.

File in April, wanting to get married in September. Ah, such are the plans of men and mice.

Well hell!!! don't feel too badly Brian, that is the most common RFE i've seen in my time here at VJ. When people are wondering what their RFE is for, it's the first thing I advise them to check. I've checked my own form no less than 15 times since we filed just to be certain I checked it! You're right, it's worded and structured VERY poorly and something should be done about it. Good luck buddy, I hope it flys through for you!

Thanks for the support. I am so embarrassed that I missed something. Looking back, I can see why I missed it, which makes me feel a little better.

If I had received the RFE on July 3rd instead of an approval, no harm no foul. But it just stinks that almost a month later, the VSC overturns the approval.

At least I have received 3 "touches" since July 28th with the last one being Aug. 3rd. (Aug. 3rd was a Sunday, did not know you could receive a touch on Sunday unless it was devinely inspired.)

I am so jealous that you are going to Kharkov. I had originally planned on being there this week, but we decided that it would be better to take a few weeks off after she immigrates. Go eat at Stargorod. The waitresses dress like the St. Pauli girl. Great beer and food. That is where we celebrated New Years. It was a combination of Halloween, Mardi Gras, and New Years. I hope to have our interview in Kiev in October. The way things have slowed down it looks like Christmas is in a race with me. I hope to be in Kharkov in October to help Julia make the big journey here. Eat some borsch and shashlik.

What you were saying abrout Ukranian girls is so true. If one has not been there, you would not understand or believe it. Last September I was at an indoor waterpark in Kharkov. Me and Julia were on the 2nd floor drinking Stella and eating shashlik. I looked down at the 5 swimming pools below us. Out of the 150 or so girls in bikinis, I could only find 2 that should not be wearing a bikini. I told Julia in America I would be lucky to find 2 that should be wearing bikinis. It is just a fact of life, they still eat very healthy in Ukraine and get plenty of exercise. I have never been to Lviv, but I have spent months in Kiev and Kharkov. I am sure that it is similar in many aspects.

Hey April filers, get your NOA2's and let the rest of us have some fun. I will say please and that is also an order. Why do I have a feeling I will be back in Ukraine for another New Years? If this was like Ukraine I would slip someone some Hgrivna and it would be done tomorrow.

We were shooting for early September for the embassy interview, so realistically we are only about a month off if the re-approval happens this week or next. Though back in April, September seemed like such an easy goal.

Look at the bright side, at least you got the RFE now instead of a month after approval. I really don't mind RFE's prior to approval. IIRC, most RFE's are processed super quick because it closes out a file which helps with the adjudicator's number count. I believe that HuskerKiev mentioned that he always worked on RFE's first thing every morning to help with his file count.

At least you know your file was not forgotten and it will be on it's way to the embassy in just a couple of more weeks.

Thanks for asking. Hanging in there. Unfortunately, I make my living via real estate.

However, I am excited about being married this fall/winter.

My SO has been a true source of strength for me. I know this sounds gay for a guy to say, but she really helps me stay focused on the truly important things in life. I was just hoping to have a more lavish wedding/honeymoon. But you know the great thing is that my SO will consider our wedding day to be the most special day of her life, even if we just do a small wedding or even a courthouse ceremony.

I told my friends years ago that I was looking for "bus stop" love. You know how you drive by the bus stop and you see a loving couple waiting on the bus. I would always think, "wow", that is such a pure and honest relationship. Heck, the guy cannot even afford a car, yet she loves him like he placed the stars in the night sky. Okay, maybe that makes me sound jaded or crazy. But I am so thankful to have found a my own version of "bus stop" love.

Brian ~ I totally understand you. That's what our relationship is like. I was in a very, VERY bad relationship prior to this so I can tell you the comparison is incredible. I have 2 kids from a previous relationship that ended terribly and abruptly about 3 years ago. 2 years ago I met Luis and everything has been wonderful since. People think I'm crazy but I'd rather be in a wonderful long-distance relationship than in some crappy relationship where we're together all the time. We were dating for 2 years now, and just in April we decided to petition for the visa, because he proposed to me the last time I was in Peru & I think it's just time for us to start our lives together.

Just wondering about some processes - sorry to always have tons of questions..#1 - who am I going to find out the interview date from? The department of state or the American Embassy in Chile? But then should I be receiving a letter from ? stating my interview date? I plan on going to the interview with him so the sooner I find out the better. #2 - the Affidivat of Support forms - Will I be receiving a letter stating what I need to fill out? I know that there is forms everywhere I can go off of, but I would rather receive something official first stating what they want from me.

hello guys dont know what to do.... I'll have my interview for k1 visa in Warsaw,Poland. Just want to ask ur advice. our documents left NVC on July,21 but the embassy is still saying that they didnt get them(((((( more than 2 weeks left and I dont know what to do. NVC tells they sent them exactly on July 21. what do u think?

Just dropping in to say hi and offer congrats to the new approvals.... Michael left this morning, and who knows when I'll see him again. Still no news from VSC, though he told me he's going to call them and demand an explanation. In the meantime, I am going to implement a Plan B, which would allow me to leave Italy and get a temporary appointment to another country. It is not what I want, but perhaps after some time I would be able to stay, especially if he can find a job there. I really hoped we would be able to celebrate our NOA2 together, but it seems it was not to be.

Yeah, I realize that, I was being sarcastic as well... NZ is usually less than a month to interview.

It just seem so unfair this RFE. I guess I was 'lucky' in that I had to wait so long to file that I saw others getting rfe'd for this. I followed those example forms like they were scripture and was able to learn from others mistakes. Of course, there could be something else wrong on our forms. *sigh*

Kristen, you can call DOS to see if the Embassy has received your file and/or if they've scheduled an interiew. (202) 663-1225 Press 1, then Press 0 You will usually receive a packet 3 and will need to send it back to get your interiview date but every Embassy works differently so your best bet is to check with Chile. The benefit of filling out the forms and having your documents early is that you can send it all back in asap and get your interview date.

Sorry Anastasiya...maybe this is common at your Consulate? Perhaps they just haven't put you in the system yet.

Well I was very sick last night, not sure why, but it's still there. I also found out this morning that Russell has his phone (cell from the US that let us keep in touch all day/night) was stolen by some low life thief. So just one more thing gone wrong. My case status is currently "denied" while they review how well I checked off that stupid box.

I guess because I received an "approval", it was probably some procedural deal where it had to be overturned then they allow me to supply additional information. But it does stink having a blue piece of paper that says "denied."

I would rather be in your shoes, though I am sure that my feet would hurt.

That was always my opinion about RFE's. Though getting one almost a month after an approval really stinks.

By the way, I am impressed with your patience.

Of course, actually my July 3rd approval means little, and actually NVC will probabaly not get my file until Sept. which means Oct for the embassy packet and maybe November for our interview.

You know the absolute WORST part. I am back to checking that stupid USCIS web site on a daily sometimes hourly basis. Gosh, it felt good having an approval and not checking and wondering "what if."

I have a question for all of you guys - nothing to do with the K1 Process, but relevant nonetheless...
What do your families think about it? Do they think you're crazy?
My mom, sister, and whole mom's side of the fam is cool with it. They are normally OK with whatever I do because they know I make good decisions, and that me wanting to marry Luis is HUGE because I didn't even want to marry my ex (the father of my 2 kids) and actually never did (thank god).

My dad's side thinks that I'm a complete idiot. They think Luis only wants to date me for a Visa to the US (he's actually not all that excited about leaving Peru, in fact he'd probably rather me go there), and that I'm making a HORRIBLE decision. They've never actually told me this, it's a thru-the-grapevine (AKA my mom) type thing. However, I'm not completely surprised, being as they criticize every single move I make although out of everyone in that family I'm doing the best in life. I got into the State University of NY at Stony Brook with a full scholarship, work full time and take care of 2 kids. My grandma thought my major was 'useless' Go figure.

I want to know your opinion. I don't want to invite a bunch of two-faced people who will talk about me at my own wedding, I also don't want to piss off my Dad or hurt anyone's feelings. The #1 trash-talker is my Grandma, and that would really hurt my dad if I didn't invite her. I'm just sick of their crap. What's your opinion on this guys?
