It was easier than filling out the Four Hundred Fifty-Five dollar portion of my check.


For those who are about to file, we discussed the pro's and con's of overnight delivery earlier. I think we are up to three people who re-filed this month because their original petition's from Jan./Feb. were never recieved. I am a bigger fan of FedEx or UPS, rather than USPS which were the ones that lost the other packages, IIRC.

I filed today too!!!! I went down to the county courthouse and picked up the divorce decree!
I called my fiance to tell him. and he goes... "OK, so now how long" hahahahah
if ONLY I knew! (hopefully it will be fast for all of us!)

Thought I would add one of my favorite VJ links to this thread. It is known as Igor's list and it shows the rate of approvals among VJ members. I find it interesting to look at the last twenty K-1 approvals from Vermont. Most are from mid-Feb., but there is one NOA2 from a March filing.

I check the VJ timeline religiously every morning...even before I filed cuz i'm a freak! ... Huskerkiev - former adjuticator's thread is another good one as well as tracking your petition from NVC to USEM

I'll try to find the time to start our own database with April filers as we've seen in other threads.

I loved the part where he says that 129f's are referred to as "hunny bunnies." Also, he mentions that a petition could be approved in about 15 minutes. And that one of the biggest hang-ups was essentially clearing the names through the four or five required databases. That is if your name had a hit (ie, similar to a bad guy's name), then it would have to be researched further and sometimes sent out to someone else to clear it.

Very informative thread, I am glad that you brought it up Kim. Also thanks in advance for any April filer spreadsheet that you may have in mind. I believe the January Vermont thread had one and that was cool.

Never thought waiting for my petition to move is a lot harder to endure than that of waiting for my annulment to be over..OMG!!!

I think that's what it is... it's been such a long and bumpy road and we've already waited years to get to this point! I feel like once the check is cashed I can actually sit back and 'relax' a while. One more thing to check off....

Pretty, Your petition got there the day before mine did so I guess I will try to be a bit mroe patient until you let me know yours has cashed.

Quite odd huh...many people would do their best to keep their bank balance growing while we,I can say at this point in time are in a hurry to see it decline by $455..hehehhe..

We sent ours in on 4/14...and it arrived 4/15....and we just found out that the check was cashed today! Yay! But we are still waiting on the NOA1 in the mail...

I am curious if any of you April Vermont filers have gotten an NOA1 yet. Also, I have seen some people list check cashed on their timelines, but I don't know how to do that...

Congrats Moro , We havent recieved our NOA1 yet either, but its still within that ridiculous timeframe of 3 months . we are still pretty sour about not being able to read the NOA1 number from our Cheque .

More people here should be impatient, the more other people are, the less impatient I seem ! lol

You can usually get the number to track your petition from your cashed check (sorry Nicoxcx!! )

Actually, was able to figure something out with some paint/photo program, but the problem then became that the stamp was too light to be able to discern the numbers, ie. 3's from 8's, etc. And realistically, only two of about thirty March VJ Vermont filers have received NOA2's, so I am not in a huge hurry to register for tracking. That would only give me one more thing to obsess about.

Plus, I have the illusion of control when I can do something. So I figure when I need an emotional boost, I will register with the USCIS which will probably be about mid-May.

Hey guys...
I sent my K1 Packet in on the 18th (Friday), it got there on Monday the 28th (with delivery confirmation of course) and still no cashed check or NOA 1.

I'm hoping it comes today or tomorrow to calm my nerves. And I'm waiting for my bank account to decline by $455 too.

Hi Suzy, ours was sent overnight 4/15 and got there 4/16. My check still has not cleared. Others here who filed the day before us had their checks clear yesterday so i'm hoping today is the day but nothing yet.

Seems as tho VSC slowed down quite a bit since January/February. I do hope it speeds up again as I was getting pretty excited about a 4-6 week approval as most January filers got!

I wouldnt worry, if the check is cashed you know its there.

I´m new to this I´m still confused, so do we get a NO1 date before the check is cashed? How do I know mine?

I think you get the nao1 after the check is cleared. Hope that helps.

The EAC number you need to register on the USCIS website should be printed on the back of the cleared check. Most of us can get a copy right online. The USC will get a hardcopy via snail mail that will also have the number.

I don't know what to say about VSC. It's hard to really get an accurate idea because the databases here are just based on the VJ filers which make up a very small percentage of overall filers. I can tell you that, according to this website, things look like they've slowed a bit but that may not be the case. It's still a whole lot faster than CSC and MUCH better than it was last year after the price increase/influx of petitions!

I know it all seems overwhelming right now but there are lots of people here to help!

It suprisingly was a decent size , though the Banks scanner was absolute crap we couldnt tell our J's from 1's ,

We are calling the bank tomorrow in the offchance they have the apper copy of the Cheque, mainly out of worry for my SO's sanity!

Nico... Steven hasn't received the hard copy of the NOA1 yet? Seems it should be there by now. Well, if the check cashed then you know you're there and on your way... i'm sure it will work out.

YES! Our check cashed!! We were actually talking to each other yesterday when I just happened to check the account again for about the 4th time (as Russell's a tad anxious and keeps asking ) and I gasped as I saw my bank account had dropped! I'm still not on my computer (using one of the kids laptops ) and had a reader error so by the time I reinstalled adobe, Russell had already been into the bank account & registered with USCIS. He refreshed the page several times just during our conversation to see if the status has changed! He so cute!

It's even more of a relief now just knowing that the application is there, maybe just collecting dust for now but... it helps knowing they're not sending it back for something foolish (like I forgot to sign the check or something ) that would delay the process even more.

Still nothing for me

Maybe on Monday or something. (crossing fingers)

The programmer in me decided to see if there were any differences in those who's checks took a week compared to those who cashed within days.... doesn't seem to matter. It does feel good seeing the bank account drop, though! I hope yours does tomorrow!

Well, we sent our last Monday (4/21) and it arrived Tuesday (4/22)
so we are a week behind you guys-

So.. maybe it will be cashed by this coming Friday??? ( 5/2)??????

I just found this thread and was so excited to see that there are other april filers out there keepin up with eachother! i think this site is amazing for bringing a little piece of mind to a crazy situation...and for sure i could use a little piece of mind! we got our NOA1 on April 10 & were just hoping that this 2ish month trend at VSC will keep up! what do you all think?

Welcome Katie, congratulations on getting started. Historically, VSC has been very quick but it seems just when you think you've got this process down... it changes!

I posted the following as a seperate thread hoping for input from some of the experienced VJ'ers, since the question is a little ahead of us April filers.

But I realized that some people like Kim, have been researching for months. I would just hate to waste an opportunity to help my SO gather up the required documents while we are actually together. Here is what I posted:

"I am heading to Guadalajara this week to see my SO. I just filed my K-1 w/Vermont on April 1st. I was wondering since I am there, can I help her fill out the DS156 and DS156k ahead of time.

I know the DS156 is online and generates a bar code. Are these documents time sensitive? In other words, do I have to wait until my NOA2 is issued, or do the online documents have an expiration date?

And is there anything else I can square away while I am down there to make our journey more efficient."


So does anybody have any ideas?

Brian, I know for the USEM in Juarez you fill out the forms online and that there is a bar code generated but i'm not sure if it's time sensitive. I'm sure the folks who are going through that consulate will be able to help you. Maybe use your portal to find someone to PM who recently went through if you dont get an answer soon.

Sorry to hear your still waiting ladies. Ours took 9 days from when VSC received it so not to worry.
