Full Version: cannot track the case by the receipt number

i received a receipt for n400 processing. however, i have been unable to track the case. i got the error "Case Status Retrieval Failed." Is that normal or something may be wrong? Has anyone had that before?

Perfectly normal for the online tracking system. You very well like many of us never even be put in the system to track. I had the same thing, and called them up and was told many aren't entered or updated if they are entered. Basically it's pretty useless. I got my citizenship and never once saw my information being tracked on that online system...

Our petition is the same, cannot be found on the on-line system. Do you know what else this affects? The misinformation (800#) line will ask you for your service center number when you are trying to connect with a human. Since it cannot validate the service center number (it must use the same database), it will promptly hand up on you after a few attemps. So for the most money I have ever spent on a application, I get the worst service yet.

Does your case number have an * in it? We had to type that in as part of it. Just a thought, otherwise I don't know. Sorry!

yes, i did type the asterisk as it is one of the 13 characters they ask for. i guess it is what warlord thinks it is

I can still login to check my status but there's no update at all.

I'm experiencing the same problem, and it's been a few months already since I filled my N400 (late December '07). I had the biometrics done already, so I know some progress is being made, however the website is just useless, I agree with warlord and hotairguy. And yes I think all naturalization application numbers have the * asterisk in it.

So don't worry about it.. it's the system's fault, not yours.

They are very behind with updating the system...many people have your problem and in my case...there have been no updates whatsoever online since september.

I had the same problem but after I was done with fingerprints system was updated in the same date, and I had * in receipt number also, So you should be all right it is just how it is working now
