Want to ask about barcode cover sheet for the 230: First question was asked before by another poster but only got a few answers that did not allay my concerns. The "authentic" NVC coversheet has both a blue logo and also the letterhead and the word "Immigration" are also blue. On the James version, only the logo is blue...thus a tipoff it's not the real coversheet.

Does this pose a problem? I assume other shortcut users had no problems using the coversheet but thought I'd check in again. I even wondered if the NVC recently changed the color cosmetics of the cover letter?

Second issue is when I put my name and address in all caps it pushes the text to a second page but only one line. I messed around with spacing and formatting and got everything back on one page. Anyway, this must happen sometimes and wonder if it's an issue if the cover sheet goes to two pages?

Thanks.
coolgt
the color there haven't been issue with.
you can change the color in JS to blue color and it doesn't make a different.
from what i notice of the original and short cut cover sheet. the name it self.
some time u have to enter the middle name.
as long as you get the date and stuffs on you will all set.
it should be working fine

My experience was that the actual content of the cover sheet was not relevant.
The papers are (I guess) processed when they arrive by scanning the bar code, and then entering the paper to the file. I think they would only read or look at the page if it did not scan properly.

I didn't know they were blue when I made up the coversheet -- someone had just sent me a graphic of the logo.

Obviously, it's not a problem because they've been accepted, but if you want to change the letterhead and the word "IMMIGRATION" to blue, just highlight them in Word, click on Font under the Format menu, click on the "Font color:" drop down box and, at the bottom of that box, click on "More Colors..." In the box that pops up, click on the Custom tab, then enter 60 for Red, 120 for Green, and 255 for Blue. Then click on OK and OK again.

That should more or less go with the logo. The actual darkest color in the logo is 127, 182, and 222, but that seems a little light for text, at least on the screen. It might look all right or even better printed out, though, but you'd have to test it out for yourself.

Hey, great to get advice from the creator of the shortcuts, himself. Thanks for the advice, I'll give it a shot. And thanks for the great timing saving shortcuts!

Here is new copy of DS-320. The picture is clearer. Text color is blue and I open the table's cell in the name section for the people with long names so when they write their names it won't push title to the right anymore. I hope it will be helpful. I have to say I used James document and it worked fine

That's cool. I use your blue picture and header. I know it doesn't matter much but I've a question for the name convention:

Do I need to use LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME MIDDLENAME or FIRSTNAME MIDDLENAME LASTNAME (ALL CAPS)?

Awesome work. Should preserve this form or at least naming convention in Wilki guide.

There's some weird wording going on in that Test2 doc. I would proof read and re-create it before saving it in Wiki.

is this the only cover sheet needed for the DS-230? I am ready to send now but a little gun shy...2 weeks have passed since they said they sent it to me and nothing in the mail from NVC, but I did get the last document from my husband and it is all ready with duplicates of documents.

Question for all you JS experts..

Has anyone ever created a barcoded coversheet for the I-864 coversheet and been successful? My friend got a RFE message for the I-864 that her hubby forgot to sign and request for his 2007 tax return. Has all info ready and waiting to send. Would it be advisable to create the barcoded sheet and send it in?

I know about I am really sorry sad.gif((
I used the DS-230 and it worked fine... so I just changed the image and the text just to make people feel safe. Don’t worry if the color is different or the bar code is bigger. I was so scared when I saw the bar code was smaller on nvc letter too.

i noticed the barcode size on the I-864 was the same as this one and I was very careful to match the sizes (used a lot of ink) and I also positioned the logo just like the original I-864. still a little nervous but my husband and I are talking now about it. we will give it 2 more days then go with the shortcut. thank you for your work on this.

I matched the bar code on my 230 with the one I receive it was nothing like it. Text color, image and bar codes were different but they accept it. If you want you can wait few more days (((((

Don’t do it then because you will feel really scared until the time they enter in the system. I know this feeling and it is not good

Hi VJ's

What has been the usual time frame between generation of DS 230 and actual receipt via mail. The only shortcut i have used so far is to email the DS 3032, since then the turn around times have been pretty good and i have not used any other shortcuts. However the NVC generated the DS-230 on March 24 and mailed it later that week according to the NVC. I have all my doc ready to send and this is the only part of my case pending.

I have used the shortcut to prepare my own DS - 230 coversheet, it looks ok, but i am nervous of using it. I am wondering do i just wait out this week and see if i get the actual one in the mail since it appears that the usual time between mailing and receipt from the NVC is two weeks.

Sorry to be so paranoid, but i was in AP for almost 3 months at the beginning of the NVC process and do want a problem at this stage.

Regards

i am right there with you...everything was smooth for me till i tried an untried shortcut for the IV bill and now i am a bit paranoid...do i wait or do i go for it. i did all other shortcuts and they all were smooth. my husband and i have decided to go for it. it is off to the post office tomorrow for an overnight with receipt signiture. i at least know that these have been tried shortcuts (many times over) and very successful.

from my experience with the DS230 shortcut it.
it will work fine as you need the barcode and the cover letter.
the only thing you guys to to know it take around 1-2 weeks when your letter get to the mailroom before they input it and change the message.
and it take another week before the case is complete.

if you really so the shortcut. just really patience during that two weeks.

and another thing just send it regular mail. i did my overnight and it doesn't input into the computer 2 weeks later. so better off just send it regular from US mail (overnight if from abroad)

Your timeline shows only 7 days from DS-230 recieved to case complete...if it took 2 weeks to input your receipt how did you know that it was complete? a phone call to NVC
I just mailed mine overnight with a signiture request because these are original documents and thursday (they will receive it on friday and hopefully look at the documents the coming monday)

i send my paperwork in feb 27(overnight) they received feb 28. i call them see every day see if message change. finally march 13 i call talk to live operator case complete.
the message didn't change until march 6, so 1 week after they received before actually input and change message. and another week for review.
