I need help! My green card expired 2/26/08. I have not filed an I-751. I know I have to submit an explanation providing a good reason why I"m filing late. Has anyone had any experience with this. My daughter was in the hospital for sometime late last year and has been in and out since then. I hope they will have some sympathy for me. How would I go about getting sworn affadavits?? Any help would be great!

Try not to freak out too much. I've seen a few VJers here who had filed late. They all submitted a letter explaining the reason for the late submission. So far all I've seen one approved and the others are waiting on their approvals. Have not yet seen anyone rejected because of late submission.

I would include copies of the discharge paperwork for at least some of the hospital stays with your letter. That way, they'll know you're not making up a story.

I wouldn't sweat about it too much. Just get the thing on its way as soon as you can.
