We'll be going to Montreal for our interview (one of these days i hope lol) and I'm wondering if it's really necessary to get the detailed phone record for proof of ongoing relationship.

I don't have much else for proof except for Yahoo chat logs.

When I visited I drove or flew to an airport in the US and was either picked up by his parents or rented a car & drove the rest of the way. Boarding passes to an airport in the US doesn't prove much. I do have a hotel receipt from Canada from last summer and a couple receipts for things I bought there. But those don't necessarily prove I was with him either.

We have about 2 pics of us together. We aren't big on taking pics of ourselves when we're just visiting and we couldn't afford fun vacation stuff so it never really occured to us to take pics together.

I've read many Montreal reviews and all of them have said that the evidence they brought wasn't even looked at but I don't want to not bring anything & be the ONE couple they DO ask for evidence from.

Anyone?

Take'em. It wouldn't hurt to be overprepared, especially since you don't have many photos together. Better to have it and not need it.... good.gif

If ya have them, bring them!! They normally dont look for much of anything. Usually they ask to see pictures if anything. But I had lots of evidence, lol

Erg well the reason I asked this question is bc i'm having a hard time getting them. My cable company has the worst customer service (if you can even talk to a real person). I asked them for this many weeks ago and it hasn't arrived.

I spose I'll have to call them again yuck!!
thanks

I didnt take any phone records!! had plane receipts, pictures of us,letter from her mom, but no phone records. They didnt ask to look at any of it

Yeah, I agree when others say it's always better to bring more rather than less stuff, but at the same time, I wouldn't stress over it since this isn't a required thing. I mean, some proof is required yes, but phone records in particular are not. So if you can get them, great. But I wouldn't bend over backwards.
Do you have stamps in your passport from when you drove over? I know half the time the land people don't even ask to see your passport. I have no idea if this would be appropriate, but maybe next time you cross ask them specifically to take your passport and stamp it? Anyone know is that will work?

I would say bring whatever you have. Unless it is really very little, I wouldn't worry about getting the phone records. It is pretty unlikely they will ask to see it, though it is better to have more than you need than to have less than you need. Plus, I think if they see that you don't have any relationship evidence, that might pique their suspicion and get them to ask to see it.

You said you had chat logs, right? Are there a lot of them? What about emails? Cards or letters? I would also bring along the boarding passes. It is pretty common to fly to a nearby city and travel overland. What about your wedding? Have you bought a dress or any of that kind of crap...err, I mean stuff? Wedding bands?

We don't have many pictures either. In fact, the only photos we have of the two of us together are the three we submitted with our I-129F! We also can't prove that we talk on the phone at all, let alone every night, because he calls me using his VOIP plan that has unlimited calling within North America. I have a few pictures of him cuddling on the sofa with my dog and a few pictures from vacations that have one or the other of us in them (well, really isn't that what you normally have when you take a vacation?). I do have boarding passes showing us arriving at SeaTac and MSP together and others showing we've visited each other's cities. I'm bringing all that plus copies of a few of his emails and a printout of my email inbox showing that he emails me every day.

As long as you have something, I think you'll be fine.

Hmm, we talk every single night so that's why i kinda thought it would be our strongest evidence. I have Charter cable phone so it's no extra charge to Canada, but they don't give the detail of what phone#'s you called unless you specifically ask for them (and it's obviously asking too much lol).

I do have receipts from the engagement ring and our wedding rings which are partially paid for & on hold for us. I do have some emails and the chat logs are from just about every day too since we usually start out there and then talk later when nobody else needs the phone.

I was never asked for a passport when I crossed (just got mine this winter actually & there's nothing in it lol). They don't give us an I-94 either, they just chat & then we go on our merry way. Nice and quick, but not helpful for immigration purposes. We don't mail stuff to each other much if ever.

You've given me some good ideas and reassurance though. I'll just take what I have and ask Charter for the dang call detail one more time. If they send it great, if not, I'll try not to worry about it.
thanks!

just wondering what your phone carrier is coz i got telus mobility and all my phone calls history and airtime summary is in there since 2006..but had a hard time figuring out how to get it but i did..

U can't view your calls online and print them off?
Leafgal
I only had 2 phone call records so I printed off some of our emails and some of our chats. We chatted on Yahoo messanger which is what I printed off, we used the voice in Messanger which also doesn't show up. Also only had like 4 pictures and a ton of cards that we both sent each other and got approved no problem. I don't think they even looked at most of my proof. Since you are both going for the interview maybe you can find a picture booth or a photography place that will take a picture or two of you both together before the interview, but sounds like you can just print off some of your chat logs and I am sure you will be fine.

I wouldn't worry about phone logs. The CO's know that Canadians and Americans have easy access to each other. The phone logs are for the beneficiaries who have limited or no access to tourist visas and live halfway across the world. You'll be fine.
